Wwonderful memories flood back of my childhood in Sydney when I first heard this incredible song. My dad loved it, played it and sang along with great pleasure...he's gone.
I lived 30 years of my life with this song as my anthem. The last ten I became fn rich.....I preferred it the other way. Thanks for the memories Mike-.Old-muso Bill
Interesting how this one song seems to represent an entire generation of Australian Men (in particular), you hear that opening Harmonica riff and you get instant rapport. Congratulations on writing a near-perfect Blues/Pop song, no easy feat. I just love this song.
keep playing it...it's f****** great. I love the latest laid-back version also. The harp made the track. Loved it when it was first released, and still love it.
Harp, vox and lyrics are great...one sweet tune...when I think of Spectrum, it's this track that always comes to mind. It's now 2010, and this song still sounds great.
This is one of the greatest tunes you will find. It will resonate in your mind for quite a while, and then, like me, you will have to search for it. That is the best music, the ones you have to have. Where are you now Spectrum, because you need to ...

Who's the meathead who pressed the dislike button? This song kicks anything sung nowadays.

I remember listening to this on 3AK, where no wrinklies fly. A classic Aussie band and song. Great harmonica work too.

This was the first complex Blues Harp piece I worked out-it is a real honey of a riff.
Great song, says a lot in few words.

This is the original version of the song recorded by Ernie Rose at Armstrongs studios. It was the original hit record. '
I re-recorded it later with the more predominant slap back echo in the opening hand claps which became the dominant version of the song.
