  • what hihats are those???

  • whats the best tuning for trash-metal you know like metallica

  • SONOR ARTIST SNARE FTW!!

  • great sound , how do you tune your bottom head?

  • It is good!!!

I want to be a drummer like you too^^

What are you doing the drums how long?

  • Prob sound better with Remo Amb coated?

  • What would be the real difference between this snare and the pork pie big black brass? Does it really sound that much different? Can't tell just from videos.

  • @ptc5010 It blows the pork pie out of the water. It's got body no matter the tuning and it cuts through anything. The pork pie just sounds like a cheap imitation.

  • what is your smaller crash?

  • Remo heads would be a better call. Coated Am. Evans Heads suck!

  • Just ordered mine, Only i got the imperial style lugs.

  • hi all...i am selling a complete spiral red green white ludwig.if u search rare spiral ludwig u will see it on google.thk u all

  • 0:23 sounds so tight man, so does the snare drum. Great video!

  • is that head coated?

  • @yadrummer11 yes. If they are white, they are coated.

  • Review... ugh... testing would be more appropriate in your title!!!

  • What head are you using on the snare, And could you do a review on the Pearl Ultracast snare please? Great playing by the way, I like it. =]

  • sorry I'm retarded the head that was used is in the description...

  • beautiful!

  • Don't compare porkpie to a Ludwig B.B. PLEASE! No comparison!

  • i need help tunig my snare. how do u tune mudium, high, and low. what are diffeneces in the snare side and the batter side in each tunig. can anybody help me out??

  • it sounds great at any tuning!

btw how tight is the reso head compared to the batter?

  • I like it at the lower tuning. Wish i could have heard it without the moongel though.

  • I've just bought a Black Beauty 14 x 6 1/2 100th Anniversary snare and its the most amazing drum I've ever played. I trialled it against a Brady costing way more and yes, while the Brady was a great drum I just felt the Ludwig to be more dynamic

  • theres this guy who says the black beauty isnt that great- is he right?

  • There are always going to be nay-sayers for anything in life. I've found that 99% of people who have a Black Beauty love it, but the only one who can really decide for you is you.

  • sounded very good, good job dude

  • nice drumming! cool sequences.

I have to say I am not knocked out by the tone of the snare...what is it mic'ed with?

Anyone know what Adler used on Appetite For Destruction? I guess they could have EQ'ed the shit out of it but to me that is one of THE best snare sounds.

  • adler uses a mapex black panther im pretty sure, and yes live sound is much different from studio, i guess its all how the muscians likes to hear is drum when live or post production, eq changes drum sounds alot

  • It is rumoured he used a Pearl 14x6.5 or 14x8 Steel Free Floating drum. Of course it was muffled like crazy, but to my ears, not a ton of processing was done.

  • lower tuning great for rock of '70, '80...medium tuning great for everything...very versatile

...higher tuning really perfect for funky

i really love the higher tuning for this snare

  • Medium tuning sounds ridiculously insane! A nice fat, warm presence. I LOVE IT!

  • I have the 100th Aniversary Hammered Black Beauty snare drum. IT IS BEAUTIFUL. It sounds great in my rock band, in the school jazz band, playing Blues with the parents, EVERYTHING. DEFINATELY worth the extra money.

  • Hi, nice video and terrific snare!!

I'd like to know if you tuned both heads or only the resonant one. I've read that the bottom head makes the pitch and that the batter head makes the stick response.

Please reply because I'm in trouble with mine, I have a SONOR DELITE Brass Snare 14x5.

I've watched Bob Gatzen's video where her explains how to tune a snare but he's so fast that I don't undersand anything.

Could you make one to explain how to do it ?

    Thank you very much :-)

  • Fantastic vid, I love this Snare :)

  • By the way, nice video and info. To the point, quality of sound is great. Good work mate.

  • Just bought one on line and waiting for it in the mail. 100 year aniversary model! I hope it is all that!!

  • it sounded like ass tuned hgher

  • @spikeman23 Give all the thumbs down comments you want. It didn't sound that great.

  • @spikeman23 ummmm why are u responding to urself?

  • No clue. lol

  • @spikeman23 lol utube added the "@someone" thing now so ppl wouldnt get confused...wish they'd tell us first before we look stupid, huh?

  • Indeed. It happens though. No worries.

  • Nice video! Thanks for showing us a good variety of tuning options. 5 stars.

  • best snare = porkpie brass patina

  • @drakejoseph25 fuck that snare go for the pearl firecracker!

  • @drakejoseph25 Wrong

  • @drakejoseph25 i like the patina a lot, just wish it wasn't so damn ugly

  • I need to check one out, But just going by this vid and a few others it really doesn't sound much different that what i've already got.

  • yes, if you have the money buy it!!!!!!!!!!! sounds amazing

  • Doesn't sound that much different from my pork pie BB. Not really worth the money.

  • it actually is the tuning range is amazing

  • I don't know. I would have to play one for myself. Thew reviews i have seen on here with good audio , It sounds like it is slightly warmer than my pork pie BB.

  • what kind of set is that.

  • what kind of strainer are you using?

  • 1:16 beat is nice

  • dude how do u tune ur toms?

  • gotta get me one...... bad as snare.....ahhhh but pricey

  • pearl is better.

  • HA!

  • i love the last tuning

  • accent cs custom drum set?

  • I'm more interested in your hats.

they sound awesome even with a shit mic haha

  • :35 that's the same sound on U2's Sunday Bloody Sunday song.

  • how much 4 it?

  • bout £600 lol!!

  • is there a diff in sound on the 100th aniversary and the regular or what

  • High tuning !! best sound :)

  • mastodons drummer has this snare

  • yah I heard that, man!

  • a metal drummer? this snare? i would have thought deeper?

  • he bought it from atlanta pro precussion, the guy that works there was telling me about it, haha.

  • brann dailor does have this snare, but he tunes it pretty damn low... listen to "oblivion"

  • oh God yes...

  • i want one bad it sounds amazing..... where did u get it?

  • that first riff made me cream in my pants

  • Sounds very similar to my LM 402 on the first vid (drool)

  • yeah my dad had a 30 year old one and it was in the garage 4 16 years rusted and everything when its fixed ill post a vid but the rims are being painted a matted black u know just to be different

  • i wish i had that kit...mine sucks...

  • great sounding snare but i don't hear any crack in the the third example, it sounded more like the snares weren't even on it, like a bounce kind of... but great sounding snare overall.

  • Is that an 8 or 10 lug snare?

  • obviously 8...

  • Actually, I looked it up and it's a 10 lug!

  • ...and with a 42-strand snare?

  • I'm not sure. I didn't look that up. It could be, or he could have put his own snare on.

  • Nice review! I personally like the tighter tuning with my snare. I have a Tama Starclassic 14x5.5 birch snare. It's hands down the best sounding snare I have ever used! This Ludwig sounds amazing as well. Nice drumming to!

  • I was considering getting a starclassic too...how much did you pay for yours?

  • I payed $250 off Ebay for mine. It was used but in mint condition! Don't pay more that $350 for one. Try and find a used one in good condition. The music shop in my town wanted $580 for a new one.

  • i've got the pork pie bb . there is little to no difference in sound.

  • sounds awesome man! and BTW you are talented. :)

  • how do you get the toms to sound like that?

  • Its called Tuning :D

  • keep those pinkies on those sticks next time

  • how much do those go for? sounds excellent

  • $500 - $600 US for the supra-phonic snares. The super-sensitive snares add around $150 (not worth it). For a similar but affordable sound, pick up a vintage Ludwig Acrolite snare. You can find them in excellent condition from the 60's or 70's for only $100 - $200. Swap out the old snares for some Puresounds and you are good to go.

  • I like the Ludwig 402 IMo and definatly for the $!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the rhythms are improvised by you? or they all are songs......if they are, please tell to me which are they

    great!!!!.....by the way

  • Thanks, I'm just making stuff up as I play along.

  • i have that same snare

  • well arent you just special?!?!

  • sweet- nice camera angle

  • That's a funky snare.

  • i liked the pearlomar hakim one wayyyyyy better

  • i like snare when you tune them nice and tight/ high and get that beautifull cracking sound

i was wondering tho do you get that craking kinda sound with a pearl steel shell sensitone snare drum ???

  • I like the sound!!!

    Impressive snare.

  • I love that higher tuning

  • I just bought a 6.5 with Imperial lugs and the drum was tuned (high ) perfectly from the factory . Superb !

  • what drumhead is it ?

is the snare drum all metal or wood and metal?

  • 0:32 awesome

  • yea

  • Supraphonic LM402 all the way.

  • I like the beats you have. pretty sweet. 5*****

  • that sounds so great, I tried to tune my snare up real nice and tight and my tuning key broke (:

  • holy crap ur snare sound at the begining is tuned to the EXact Pitch i have my snare at lol

  • def- unmuffled!

  • Hi, really good test, it sounds crazy!

Is it an old black beauty, or a new serie.

Could you give me the reference please, Thank you !!! In Ludwig we trust !

  • rofl accidently pressed 3 stars, soz man i ment to press 5

  • hey man, love that bass (and snare!)

what heads are you using on bass, and how have you tuned it?

  • Superkick I on batter just above wrinkle & Taye ported reso 1/2 turn higher.

  • Nice drum, bad micing.

  • BEASTLY!

What kind of hi-hats are those?

  • Bosphorus Stanton Moore 14" Fat Hats. I did a review of them, look at my other videos. Thanks.

  • great snare!!! how much did you pay, how old?

  • damn that drum just makes you want to play!!!helps the drummer has cool feel but man i need to get myself behind my kit!got a yamaha oak custom but internal snare is screwed-nice drum otherwise!

  • this is quite nice.. this ones quite famous no?

  • even from this video you can tell how much better than any other snare this is. I think I'm going to order one. Is this the brass version? Cos that's what I'm after, and how much did you pay for yours?

I currently have a chad smith and it just gets on my nerves really. No beef.

  • thank you for this revue i think it was helpful.

  • The head is an Evans 1 ply coated Reverse Dot.
