This song reminds me of the mistake I almost mad. At the last minute I realized my orchid was the one I loved & want to spent the rest of my life with. THANK YOU CEryl for sticking with me. U***L***I
Not to denigrate Carl Smith and his music which I enjoy. The thing that distinguished Hank from all others........all those great songs he wrote. They're still being recorded today. Such poetry to come from a relatively uneducated guy from Alabama. His star was snuffed out much too soon.
Carl Smith was one of the greatest country singers of all time and he and Hank Williams were running neck and neck in the early fifties in popularity. he used to really pack them in at old Ryman as i remember seeing him there in 1951. "I Overlooked An Orchid" was one of his great classics. Country was really Great Country back then.
there is a lot of truth in this song..i made this mistake and can't correct it..

One of my favorite songs, and sung by several artists. Carl was among the best. I'm 63 now and remember watching him on my grandparents TV.
