  • i wish that guy was my grandfather. we would have major bonding time.

  • u don hav to apply much force..Judo is always about making the opp off balanced and use their force against them..but tis might nt work as effectively on rough surface though...probably ><

  • cool video. I do mostly groundwork so it is nice to see more takedowns, which is a huge hole in my game

  • thats minor inside not major major is o uchi gari

  • without sound the video looks gay

  • "On behalf of expertvillage, this is John Anderson. We're going to demonstrate a judo move called Kouchi Gari; major inside reap...now you may have noticed by my dull look, that I haven't had my oatmeal, so bear with me." lol...j/k :)

  • isn't judo like wrestleing?

  • @cloud28740 it's a better version of wrestling

  • Expert Village sucks! maybe they should pay more attention 2 the mass majority of comments on their videos. maybe they would realize they should get better people 4 their "tutorials"..

  • @evo9racer I bet you this guy could beat you 80 times in a fight.

  • Too many advertisements youtube !!!!!!

  • Sensei Anderson you are the ultimate judoka and teacher of "the gentle way". We all are very grateful to you for your many years of dedication to making us all better judo player and better human beings. By the way the Katame No Kata Clinic you conducted last month in conjunction w/ Sensei Edwin at the U.S. Naval Academy was sensational.

  • they're using thicker judo mats here...

  • the old fart got the translation of this technique wrong

  • Tsis in shool is cool

  • That's some super-sneaky skill right there. Yo, have a seat son! BAM! Now what?

  • Ko = minor

  • red .. wow nice

  • Ko uchi barei, not gari i think.

  • Man your age doesn't matter, if you want to start training you can even be a champ.. some of the guys i train with are more than 30 even more than 40 or 50.. so just do it man...

  • I'm 33 years old.

Can I start practice judo on this age?

  • @cassavaeater Your ability to participate is dependent on your physical health, not age. If you do not feel you are in good enough health, consult a doctor.

You will also need to find an instructor that takes adults.

  • @cassavaeater probably..

  • A couple of my judo instructors started when they were in their 30's. Some classmates started even later.

  • @cassavaeater Of course!!! However, your style will definitely not be as explosive or agile as the others, you definitely can develop great technique, just be a bit more mindful of proper falling techniques and conditioning on the side to avoid injuries.

  • @cassavaeater

    Yes!

  • @cassavaeater I'm 33 too. Started Judo last week. It's great, lots of hard work. IMHO, anyone can do it if they feel their body is up to it.

  • woow ahora un ruco abierto de patas xD

"and older person showing his oyote" =O

  • this move would be very difficult to do on a guy with a good wrestling stance.

  • @LOWKZ340 Absolutely correct. Judo is something you want to incorporate into wrestling, as opposed as a substitution for it. After all, in real life, you have to know what to do once your opponent is on the ground...

  • this is a bad ass move looks like he broke the guys hip

  • ha childs play..

  • @indieangie lol. Indeed...

  • uh, question. would that work on someone good?

  • Many Olympic champions have won their medals with this move.

  • So maybe its because im new at judo and i might be wrong but is Ko-uchi-gari a minor inner reap? in the vid he says its a major inner reap.....or are they one and the same?

  • @blackeclipse521

your observation is right. he said major inner reap, which is wrong.

Ko uchi gari: Small Inner Reap

O uchi gari: Large Inner Reap

  • Yeah you're right.

  • Wow those mats look friggin soft lol. the ones up here in Lennox \island judo club are like rock hard, you eventually get used to it but those matts look pretty cool, except it looks like it would mess up foot sweeps.

  • @kentdahman lol.

Our mats are soft like this, and leg sweeps are still easy lol.

  • In self defense I would combine this sweep with a low kick to the inner leg/knee. Nothing gentle like that ^^

    Good explanation anyway.

  • I hate expert village but this guy seems like an old school judoka. He's adorable too. I like how he ends everyvideo with "thank you"

  • rei ni sensei

  • @RightWingCon81 he looks like the sorta guy that would put you to the floor then hug you when you get back up even if you have a knife... :L

  • damn those mats are soft...i think they should use thinner mats as an incentive to try harder and not be thrown. lol or maybe im just sulking coz my mats are paper thin

  • theyre old thats why then need more safety :P

    just a joke

  • lol i got the joke ;p

  • people like you get beaten up very badly on the street on a daily basis by martial artists and mma fighters....SILENCE BOY!

  • technique is nice, but isnt kouchi gari SMALL outer reap?

  • whoops, SMALL inner reap

  • yeah, i think he just didnt say forgot to say the small or minor part... o soto gari is major outer reap, ko uchi gari is minor or small inner reap

  • Ko means small

    Uchi means inside

    gari is reap

    Just as Molataz wrote

  • umm ok then

  • cool nice tech.
