  • its begun

  • nothing can be said of this video< its speaks for itself

  • i grew up with soundgarden< chris is a genuis song writer and the band itself is iconic.....great great musicians . burden in my hand is one of his best as is say hello to heaven written for his friend and fellow musician who died early. mad season is another great accomplishment

  • I love Chris Cornell..... His voice is just so unique, and he is gorgeous! I don't really like the new stuff he's been doing lately but i guess it's good that he's experimenting in other genres.....

  • i think people give to much atention to the musicians...what's important is the music...what it makes you feel without caring what the song really meant...feel the tune and let it fill you

    i really like this song

  • AWESOME SONG!!!

  • I fricken worship cornell but we allgive TOO much credit what about kim thayil he practices 10 hours a day and ben shepered is another insane song writer as well as matt ... I mean look 95% of this video is just chris'es face, and thats fine but I don't want to forget the rest of them... anyone know what I meen

  • Fuck off you asshole I never said anything to you im a lil fuckin twelve year old and I got $2900 worth of guitar gear and I dont need some pot smoker to swear at me

  • Gotta love that Soundgarden! Thanks for posting this! Great to see and hear it again! Pops

  • Actually, I'm not sure if that's what this song's about, that's just how I interpreted the lyrics.

  • What I love about this song is that if Pearl Jam or Alice In Chains had done it (love both bands, btw), it probably would have been really dark and moody. But Soundgarden played it fairly light and upbeat considering it's a song about murdering your significant other.

  • knob head

  • To me it highlights how positive humans seek to be, despite being rather dark, inside.

  • ummm no it's about Chris giving up his addiction to alchohol..... hate people who don't try to find out what the song is about.

  • I heard the same...I mean the first line of the song says it all...

  • wonderful video

  • r.i.p. joesph victor mcleod this one's for u

  • soundgarden forever

  • Absolutely amazing--like always!

  • soundgarden is the way to go!

  • ...and if you live you can fall to pieces and suffer with my bones...

  • its actually suffer with my ghost

  • haha, hmmm, well that's even cooler. Maybe I'll make the next "most misunderstood lyrics" book.

  • dang, i always thought it was "and if you love..."

    hmmph!

  • I love the whole first verse. Who else but Chris Cornell could think of lyrics like that? Its about murder and guilt.

  • "the moon is glued to a picture of heaven, and all the little pigs have god...." not the first verse, but again, INCREDIBLE lyrics

  • "crack a smile and cut your mouth and drown in alcohol." Its all AMAZING lyrics...

  • totally agree, v-dude, do you like any of audioslaves stuff?

  • of course i do! Chris Cornell is awesome! I love show me how to live and like a stone.

  • yea next to Mick Jagger,Chris' lyrics are my favorite....always fit the music, awesome.......all you young people PLEASE don't say anything about Mick Jagger unless its nice,LOL.

  • lol. you know someones gonna say somthing about him.

  • yeah, and it's gonna be me. I am so sorry, onechord, but to compare a bunch of yobbos like the rolling stones to soundgarden is almost criminal. Musicianship+lyrics+integrity-wise, soundgarden rules.

    In my opinion.

  • kill your health, kill yourself, and kill everything you love

  • Yea I agree with you jonypill42069, for some odd reason Soundgarden doesn't get as much respect and notoriety as those bands you mentioned but they are just as amazing as those. I think the problem was there was just so many amazing bands coming out at the same time and there wasnt enough attention to go around.

  • I agree completely that Soundgarden never got the same level of respect as some of the other grunge bands. That being said however, Chris personally alway seemed to get top props for his vocals at the same time (most likely because he is simply amazing, go figure). It is strange that the band didn't get the same recognition. No worries though, they all get it in my book. Also yeah, this is a great song from a great band.

  • Soundgarden rules in every sense of the word. The other big grunge bands (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains) get a lot of recognition and respect, but I don't feel Soundgarden gets as much as it deserves. Not discounting the other three as they're all awesome in their own respects, but Soundgarden had everything a band could ever need. All the instrumentalists are great and Chris' singing and songwriting ability is not easily matched. Soundgarden owns and I wish more people would realize it.

  • Fantastic

  • I first heard him sing Big Dumb Sex, in the early 90's. Chris is a master! This song here, is sweet!

  • love this video cornell rocks!!!

  • omg omg omg omg omg.... you're coo coo.

  • Chris is NOTHING short of a master. I'm 45 years old and have loved everyone from Skynyrd to Pearl Jam . Sound Garden is and ALLWAYS will be the shit!!!

  • chris cornell = awesome!

  • I'd bang chris cornell out, not even kidding!

  • chris cornell is probably the greatest singer everrr

  • He is

  • This song is fucking amazing!

  • i can't believe chris cornell's in his mid 40's... he still looks so much younger

  • Chris says so many things in this song to me...lots of messages. Heartfelt, honest...I don't think SG could have gotten any better.

  • "close your eyes and bow your head i need a little sympathy." "Follow me into the desert as thirsty as you are...crack a smile and cut your mouth and drown in alochol" this dude is notorious for awesome lyrics. Another good one is the day i tried to live

  • Hah! I knew I wasn't the only one who thought this guy had kickass lyrics!

  • Definitely my all time favorite Soundgarden song.

  • I agree, it is quite epic.

  • chris haz such a great voice!!...goodlookin 2 may i add!! oh yeah!!

  • great music!

    lorenzo from adelaide

  • i miss this music.....reminds me of being a teenager listening to nothing but good, solid rock music.

  • ;( brings back such simple memories of sitting in my house, but for some unknown reason i long to be back then

  • I miss great, hardcore music like this.

just to chill out to, drink to, whatever.

  • lol glynnth and megathelthy lol but ya soundgarden rox this song is addictive and its awesome and its a real original vocals

  • soundgardern= awsomeness made more awsome by a whole lot of mad awsomeness. (i used the word awsome alot but thats because soundgarden rocks me sublimanally, and it would probaly take years to sort out how -dare i say it?-.....awsome, i think this band is.)

    ..this shit rocks!

  • What an awesome, awesome song. Cornell can be a genius when he wants to be.

  • not to mention his incredible voice, easily one of the best of the '90s.

  • All time even.

  • Soundgarden is probably one of my top 5 favorite bands from the '90's. Great vocals, guitar, drums, lyrics... My favorite "grunge" band, even though I just think they're a hard rock band from Seatle so they got grouped with grunge. Chris Cornell kicks ass, but he should reunite with Soundgarden... I don't like his weak solo stuff.

  • His audioslave stuff wasn't too bad, but Soundgarden is definitely better. I think they made a bad decision to put to different styles together. I think the guys from ratm play to much of a rhythmic style and should stick to what they do cuz it's incredibly great without adding chris cornell to it. It becomes jaded and Chris Cornell should definitely stick to Soundgarden, a band he has more control over.

  • Its a pain to tune to open c but I love playing this song on my acoustic. The cheery melody of the guitar sort of masks the sad tale this song represents which I believe really makes one listen closley to the lyrics. Chris did an awesome job on the vocals on this song by the way. This is my absolute favorite song from these guys I just wish they had continued to write together.

  • Personally, I think Chris sold out with Audioslave. Audioslave seems to be an every other band, changing with the times. Even with that said, this song is the best of them. I guess I like it because it has some grunge overtones, and Chris gets out of a whisper finally.

  • love it

  • i love this band aqnd i just wanmt to make out with them

  • this is a rariety. a soundgarden song that brightens up my day with a good acoustic guitr beat.

  • this is true cornell

  • an alcoholism theme. bravo.

  • Actually it's about beating his girlfriend ("shot my love today"," left her in the sand", lost my head again would you lie for me"). I thought it was about alcohol at first also.

  • Kind of along the same lines as "Hey Joe", by Jimi Hendrix...

Apparently something "primitive" in it, which many of us relate to.

  • wow you r 1 of those over observative freaks.....some us just like the beat....

  • Is "observative" a real word??

  • sure it is...sexy

  • How did I go from "observative" to "sexy"???

  • cuz I want you

  • You're crackin me up! WHO ARE YOU, anyway??

  • a very bored youtuber is all.......

  • I know the feelin...

  • soundgarden is beast

    soundgarden ftw!!

  • The whole video looks like a (video) motivational poster, only without white text underneath it.

  • why does it matter?

    I really like this song!!

  • i read some comments that said chris cornell is gay is this true i did not know this and i've followed soundgarden, audioslave, and his solo career and had know idea!

  • No, he's married and has children.

  • wat happen to chris nowa days man.... he dont do nuttin like this his new shit sounds like fucking horrible pop musicc lik over produced n shit its fucking senceless

  • This song makes me happy!

The moon is glued to a picture of heaven, and all the little pigs have God.

    Good stuff!

  • yea shoot her

  • In the Soundgarden he was awesome, when he was with the three remaining rage members known as audioslave they were awesome but his new mainstream stuff..his new CD scream? Compare it to this...its just..completely eww..seriously he went..weird..

  • CHRIS CORNELL IS GOD!!!!!!!

  • an absolute classic...C.C. is amongst the greats as a vocalist.

  • what a song! what a band!

  • One of the best bands of the last 20 years..

They left the scene at the top of their game, and gave us some incredible music.

    A life long fan..rock on!!

  • this song is sex in my hand

  • One of my absolute favourites and it will stay that untill the day that I die.

  • Classic.........

  • ill

  • Soundgarden are so fucking awesome. This makes me smile...

  • fuckin long overdue for a reunion tour

  • FANTASTICA..................

  • they deserve more recognition

  • much more

  • man, u get way exited about beer lol, i dont shout or even capitalize tht shit, i just say shit like when on msn ill be like, "brb guna grab a beer"

its beer dude, not holy water, we all been drunk before, ur not a 12 ear old havin ur first beer lmao

  • LOL

  • that being said, you're so mature that you don't have to use capitals. You;re like a surrogate Jerry Garcia for a generation that never was.

  • Don't insult Garcia because some fucking moron doesn't use capitals

  • And Yet I sit listenin' to this tune, knockin' back another COLD BEER!!!

  • 2.10 looks like territory wars

  • oookaayy...?? cool...

  • knock-out!!!!!

  • You need to study, man, don't let us down. ;)

  • hey,can u send me an mp3 of this song please,luv it

  • google. that's all there is to say.

  • YEAH GRUNGE FOREVER!!!

  • Fantastic song of a fantastic band.

    Grunge forever !

  • epic tune

  • why does everyone compare every grunge band with nirvana?

  • nirvana cant match soundgarden for pure sound nirvana are brilliant if u play there songs backwards it an actual song

  • hell yea chris is the man

  • aye!

  • anyone else think chris is still the man?

  • I love the tuning, CGCGGE (low to high)

It's got a lovely ring to it

  • do u know how to tune to CGCGGE i was trying to figure it out but i couldn't :)

  • what do you mean...? you just tune to it - you will probably need heavier guage strings but apart from that you just do it..

  • I'm using the same strings on my guitar as I got day one, but it's still heavy. But I'm using two amps, and not the mediocre pack in ones, just two Peavey's. I also use a vibrating tuner that attaches on the head. At times, I use a jack to connect my guitar to the line-in on my PC and use some software to tune.

  • wow i guess your going to be at a total fucking loss when one of your strings break.

  • make it easy on yourself. buy a mandolin.

  • sorry arvinkebob, i meant to post that under kirkhammet.

  • detune the low E string 2 whole steps down to c; detune the a string down 1 whole step to G, detune the D string one whole step to C,leave the D string as is, uptune the b string to C, and last you leave the high E as is.

  • C G C G G E

  • It doesnt even matter what chris is saying it just sounds good. Soundgarden Rocks

  • Out of the big 4 original grunge bands from Seattle(Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden,Pearl Jam)

    Soundgarden is the BEST!!!!!

  • Fo sho bro.

  • I couldn't agree with you more

  • I guess saying it's about finding truth could be a viable interpretation, but the fact is Chris admitted this song was about his long struggle with alcoholism. The desert...is dry...dry as in abstaining from drinking. "follow me into the desert as thirsty as you are..." "i left her in the sand, just a burden in my hand"

  • about how 2 find truth

  • ever notice how when you coant quite tell the words to a song u love it but its not cool when u no the words like he himself

  • What's worse is when I can't tell the words of a forum wall post.

  • Serious Joe Cocker influences here.

  • Question: what is this song really about?

A theory: This song is about alcoholism ("burden in my hand"--a bottle maybe?) and the psychotic fantasies alcoholics sometimes struggle with.

The fantasy, in this case, being: "I shot my love today--will you cry for me?"

    Just a theory.

  • I think its more likely to be about murder...

  • You wouldn't believe how many beers I've knocked back listenin' to this song.

    I Lost My Head Again...

    Would You Lie For Me?

  • woah. i just happened to be reading this comment as he said that.

  • I think Chris´s vocals are awesome!! Soundgardens one of my all time favorite bands!! Rock On Young Man! Rock On!

  • nice voice for a guy

  • every guy in this band was good at what they did. tight playing. great band.

  • Beautiful desert.

  • fratello,hope you find her :) gio-v

  • The best thing about Soundgarden was their lyrics. They actually wrote about something worthwhile and used their videos to sketch personal struggles with mankind and life.

The breakup of Soundgarden was a huuuggeee mistake, after they left there was no point in watching MTV.

  • MTV only plays music videos once a week now and they are usually all gay ass rap.

  • hell yea man fuck gay ass mtv and gay ass rap too

  • damn it doesnt let me click the thunbs up more than once lol

  • Matt is cool in this vid - sitting there in that pile of bones. One of the greatest (if not the greatest) drummers still rockin' today!

  • one of my favorite songs

  • kickass song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If I were stuck in the 90"

    2 I would be happier.

  • This song is so "Led Zeppelinesque". Great song.

  • last great soundgarden song.

  • :big smile:

  • Best Soundgarden Song

  • i dont feel cris doesn't get the credit he deserves when it comes to singers, espesialy since audioslave

  • he definitely changed his style a little with audioslave but Cornell will always be a rock god in my eyes.. Soundgarden came out in 1988 i believe, with the album "Ultramega OK" and ever since then i was hooked.. i remember figuring out Kim Thayil guitar riffs note for note as a youngster and damn near crapping my pants!$#@^

  • LOve LOve this song. I am stuck in the 90's too !!!!!!

  • amen.

  • THIS SONG IS AWESOME. I LISTEN TO IT ONCE EVERY DAY.

I hate how Cornell throws his guitar though lol gives me chills.

  • Holy mother of GOD this song kicks ass. This man is a fucking genius.

  • it's a band. not just a man

  • I agree with that ,but chris writes alot of the stuff people like (most popular) stuff and him singing that ...Wow.his voice should go down in history like robert plant and stuff ......Although besides chris I think you need a good drummer ,drummers with offbeats and just drum good like dave grohl make a good band a great band.....all in all its a band ,but chris contributes alot...

  • very true, but i would never take credit away from Kim Thayil! One of my favorite guitarists ever.. as an audio engineer, guitarist, drummer and vocalist, i can honestly say this band taught me alot and is timeless!

  • come to think of it Matt's brother lived next door to me.

great band miss them. Great to get your aggressiveness and anger out.

  • good drummer?

    are you bashing matt?

  • Matt went to the same high school as me. I watched his performance in band I think it was. Great Drummer!

  • This video kicks ass. I agree with the Bush comments below, they're really not that good. I like Candlebox but most of their songs are 60% "Yeah yeah-eeee-yeaah!" Still a good band though.
