  • There isn't a plage of coldplay this is fantascientific :(

  • They don't sound the same at all..Coldplay is better then the other band anyway. Coldyplay is to good to need to steel other peoples shitty songs.

  • Michael Gregory vs Creaky Boards + Viva La Vida?

  • yea they do sound same...also listen to joe Satrini if icould fly...sounds exactly same..and he got lyrics from a poem book/werever...just like coldplay song 'talk' copied kraftwerk computer love.....also many of there other songs but most bands do the same

  • @TheBigezee77 Kraftwerk gave Coldplay the rights to use "Computer Love", dumbass.

  • @145015ZTP shut up 'tit wank'

  • really??? creaky boards crap vs coldplay???

  • I can't see any similarity.

The difference is that Creaky Board's song sounded like total shit, and Coldplay's song is iconic and amazing.

  • god's sake*

  • for god sake's, there aren't an unlimited number of notes, OF COURSE some melodies will be similar. in this case creaky boards' song is far from being copied by coldplay. and anyway, it's like picasso once said: bad artists copy, good artists steal.

  • nada a ver... affffffffff

  • For the record it has since come to light that Coldplay recorded Viva La Vida before the night Chris Martin was accused of hearing it played, and the lead singer of The Creaky Boards came out and admitted that he just made it up because he thought they sounded similar and wanted to get his band some attention, to help get noticed. There has been no comments about Satrini's song.

  • Creaky boards takes God's name in vain, so I believe they couldn't ever be better. Just because our 15 year-old girls like to do the same thing Stateside, doesn't mean we have to pretend this is in some way legit, indie, or worth our time.

  • goldplay is better

  • Viva La Vida is WAY better. I love the orchestra in the background of it. And the lyrics are much deeper, imho.

  • Viva la Vida is so much better!!!

  • Creaky boards :) > Coldplay

  • Way to be original, ColdPlay. 100% they stole the melody of the singing from this song, then stole Satriani's guitar, and Cat Steven's rhythm. Hahaha. Scumbags. Somebody needs to sue Coldplay.

  • @Ninid7 umm coldplay recorded viva before these guys and they sound a tad bit alike but not enough to sue. you just got beef with coldplay.

  • @RoyalwCheese2517 Well think about this.. the album joe satriani released if i could fly on came out in 2000 and the album coldplays viva la vida came out on came out in 2008. 8 years is a dramatic difference.

  • @Ninid7 How about Radiohead? Coldplay has plagerized their entire sound.

  • @Ninid7 Dude, there are like a million songs. Of course some things are gonna sound like other songs. There are a few chords that are used so many times, I heard someone play the same chords over and over again but every few seconds he changed to lyrics from another song.

    He played for ten minutes.

  • Oh really? You were plagiarized Creaky Boards? How about the guy from the Auto-tune the News channel here on youtube? Cause this song sounds an awful lot like Michael's.

  • @Azraeille That was a spoof of andrew, from creaky boards video about how coldplay stealing his song , he was kidding, lol :P

  • @Azraeille That was a spoof of andrew, from creaky boards video about how coldplay stealing his song , he was kidding, lol :P

  • @123smilezzz stole*

  • @Azraeille That was a spoof of andrew, from creaky boards video about how coldplay stealing his song , he was kidding, lol :P

  • what song was first?

  • The guy on the left has a arm growing out of his chest!!!

  • It does sound a lot similar, but not plagiarized. I like GaGa's cover of Viva La Vida more than Coldplay's version, it's so cute. ^_^

  • Coldplay actually demoed Viva La vida before the Creaky Boards squirted this turd... The only person truly plagiarized was Joe Satriani, and Coldplay ended up paying him about a million dollars for him to drop his suit against them.

  • it's funny coz i felt like i've heard the same melody and the singing tempo from a japanese song i can't remember...(im talking about the song from creaky board). so does that mean they copied from some asian musician?

  • lol this is pathetic. just because it has the same tempo at one point in the song doesn't mean its copied. the melody and notes were completely different from Cold Plays song.

  • it started to sound the same at the beginning and then not at all...creaky boards are douche bags haha

  • I don't think it's plagiarized.. there are some similarities but I don't think that it's COPIED you know. Maybe influenced but not copied.

I love coldplay ♥

  • From what I read this got settled because Coldplay had a demo of viva la vida recorded before Creaky Boards released their song

  • what zelda song was it?

  • Well i think viva la vida was a rubbish song even though i love coldplay, this creaky boards song is quite good whether chris martin copied or not it doesnt matter cos everyone likes it, end of

  • OMG..oh come on.....these two songs have got nothing in common!!!!

  • How were they influenced by legend of zelda? im a huge fan of that series i dont see anything in there really.

  • Seriously now......Coldplay's song lol started so much crap its just silly.

  • Ok. Here it is. Creaky Boards song is really good. It just sounds like it is on an indy label and recorded like a demo. Coldplay song is really good. It sounds like a major label and professionally recorded.

  • I like Creaky boards song cause it is different.

  • Coldplay hands down

  • Coldplay pwns CP

  • they don't actually sound that much alike! and viva la vida is waaaay better then the creaky boards song.

  • @meepolopzong really? the bass in the beginning doesnt remind you of the orchestra in the beginning of viva la vida.

this isnt the first time coldplay sounded way too much like another song

plus the creaky boards song has more better lyrics, more meaningful

  • @meepolopzong It doesn't matter which is better, Coldplay still stole the song.

  • Similarity? How? The first one sucks and Copldplay's rulz.

  • umm apparently you are somebody from coldplay or just a big fan because vivalavida is in your freaking name... anyway i think both songs are great!

  • And I freaking think the same....

  • But I still like Viva La Vida!

  • if creaky boards wants to make money, they actually have to make a hit song, not sue the real artists.

  • Hey the Creaky Boards are OK. How can they have a hit if they dont fit into the industry model? Having a hit and being ripped off are different issues. If CP ripped off the song then they are twice criminals. Once for stealing and one for being impostors.

  • Creaky Boards...

... solo unas pocas palablas para ustedes

    COMPRENSE UNA VIDAAA!!!...

    ... POR FAVOR

  • coldplay is coldplay!!!!! no quieran parecerse chicos!!!

  • it was definentely not copied

  • I may understand that CD fans are too blind to see there're many similitudes between these two songs, and that maybe CD has drawn his inspiration from this song.

It's a bit like like calling his beliefs into question.

  • I am a big CP fan. I believe that there are dozens of Viva La Vidas out there. There r few sounds that fit 2gether that can make a big hit so i think that every1 shudnt start suing eachother.

  • do you know what CP means?

  • Look Mr. Horny Dont run around asking kids like me what CP means.

  • O thanks 4 the 4 stars!!

  • coldplay rocks... chris martins voice is unique

  • It's similar, but it's no Ray Parker Jr. vs. Huey Lewis.

  • What? It so obviously didn't copy them, plus the Creaky Boards song was shit and Viva La Vida is amazing.

  • me neither... let's download for free!!!

  • coldplay rocks and i dont realy care if one copied the other but cold plays song is way way better and Creaky Boards song might give u hints about wanting to copy his song but who am i to judge

  • EMI even said CP demoed the song months before the gig

  • i fuck to this song all the time bitches love sucking my dick while both these songs are playing they love that crazy cum shot

  • Comment removed

  • ...No...Beatles will always be leagues better then Cold Play.

  • So, who the hell copied whose song? Ha, from them all Coldplay's string arrange is still the best.

  • idc if coldplay did steal it they made it a hit and if coldplay didnt make a good song nobody would care. so people pick at coldplay just cause there song sounds kinda similar and is 100000 times better

  • look up creaky boards vs coldplay vs michael. pretty sad. but ALL good, as we see why now

  • Different chord progressions, slightly similar melody lines, not that uncommon to have happen accidentally. Not to mention totally different lyrics. Keep in mind guys, there are only 11 different notes to choose from.

  • well, not entirely correct. 11 notes per octave and if you switch octave in the melody its 11 notes plus whatever octave your using so there is an infinite amount of notes...

  • There's 12 notes.

  • I've never heard either of these songs before right now (Except that I watched the Gregory Brothers parody just now). Bottom line: Coldplay song is a LOT better. So if they copied it, then they took something good and made it a lot better. In which case, imitation is the highest form of flattery :)

  • i disagree with you. i don't consider it flattery i consider it stealing. when people do covers, i think that's a little different, they have permission. BUT coldplay is getting a whole bunch of crap for plagiarism for more than these two songs... don't you think that's a little wrong???? whether a song sounds better or not, don't you think the original should get the most credit??? plus, it's just wrong.

  • Interesting perspective, but I'm still not sure I agree :)

  • you sure would think its wrong if you wrote

  • ok, it sounds a little bit similar, but not really even that close. and viva la vida is much better anyway.

  • to me, it sounds like coldplay took elements from all three songs.

    fail. D:

  • too bad creaky boards stole it from the Gregory Brothers

  • idk i dont think they copied

  • It dosent sound like Viva la Vida....Nothing to do with it...its the only way for people to listen to their song,to see if its like Coldplay...:S

  • this song of creaky boards sucks.. instead coldplay viva la vida is a wonderfull song.. it's ovbious that they said this beacuse they wanted some popularity

  • I think you are an idiot, Not only do the vocal's sound similar in the way they sing each song, but the melody is somewhat similar. you take Creaky Boards singer and satch's song, you have viva la vida.

    shocker... NOT

  • Nope...

this song sucks, Coldplay song is awesome!!!

You wish you were as good...

  • No Creaky Boards no, Coldplay did not rip off your song

  • Dude, at least get the spelling of plagiarised correct!

  • similiar, but not THAT similiar.

  • of course if u dont even play an instrument ur not gonna see the similarities at all. creaky boards rips off joa satriani vaguely, then coldplay rips of joe satriani down to 95%

  • I find it kind of strange that this thing is happening in that Coldplay's Chris Martin and Richard Ashcroft are friends. If any of you know the Verve and "Bittersweet Symphony" you'll know what I mean. If you don't, look up "Bittersweet Syphony" on Youtube and Wikipedia and Also Richard Ashcroft

I Really like Coldplay and the Verve and I still think law suits like these shouldn't even exist. It's a honor to share melodies etc, and in my opinion, should be done more often (for the good songs).

  • Whatever, Viva la Vida is a better song anyways so what's the big deal.

  • coldplay is just that desperate.

  • thats a pretty close call. eather way ur bending the line to side one way or the other. i can see the similarities but i dunno if i would go as far to say they stole it

  • hardly even close

  • omg this song is NOTHING like viva la vida. . ..

  • the debat is between koe satarinie and coldplay

  • I don't know, as has been said here allot, bright minds think alike. I personally like this better then the coldplay one

  • Eh... I kinda hear it, but not really.

Viva La Vida is 38904289842039580x better than this song because Coldplay is just beast like that.

I think those people were retarded for accusing Coldplay of copying this crap.

I can see how Joe Satriani would see the similarities with Viva La Vida and If I Could Fly, but with this song, no way.

  • i see the similarities but idk

  • well, viva la vida demo was recorded before they entered the studio

plenty of songs sound similar. Beatles old songs confuse me cuz they do, if someone thinks of a good idea, chances are, they ae not the only ones

that said, i dont think coldplay plagarized. Creaky Boards says that they both may have been inspired by music from Zelda, so even they admit that coldplay didnt plagarize now. soo...HA

  • The songs are different, both are good. I'm beginning to wonder if Creaky Boards actually did it because they thought it was a genuine case.. It's been a massive publicity stunt for them, they were virtually unheard of before and through this they got radio play and about 100'000 views/listens on YouTube. Even if that wasn't their intention it was a good move. Obviously they aren't go to take off or anything but now people know about them.

  • I don't think so, this song isn't the same as viva la vida

  • You can really see how unoriginal Coldplay, Creaky Boards and Joe Satriani are with all this malarky. May the battle of the middle-of-the-road artists continue! Second round could be Bon Jovi vs Brian Adams, or John Petrucci vs Snow Patrol with The Cribs somehow intertwined. Excellent.

  • coldplay aren't unorignal. . .

  • YEA EXACTLY!!

  • WTF they can't be serious! Every idiot hears 'Viva la vida' has totally NOT the same melody! They are just jealous..

  • So even if the coldplay version is better, do they really deserve a GRAMMY and Best song of the year awrd for someting that is not 100% theirs. Influence is just a different way of saying that they copied, and that is not something that deserves fame.

  • Very few similarities. It's possible that Coldplay's song was heavily influenced. But Coldplay's song has soo much more meaning behind it that it's impossible to be stolen.

  • Viva la vida is so not a copy of this. It has a few similarities. i think the Joe Satriani claim is more realistic. But still, even if Coldplay did copy off of this, they did it A LOT better, and deserve the fame for it.

  • Even if they copied it they still deserve fame for it? Sure, you can claim they did a better job, but they should at least put the word (cover) in the title of the song. You don't just copy other people's work and say that you did a better job so you get to steal their creative property. That's not how it works.

  • But I'm also saying it's clearly not a copy.

  • The melody is similar but not very original in either song, yet more original in Colplay's version. Also the progression, rhythms and arrangements are completely different.

  • IF coldplay copied, their work is better than the original. I MEAN the first song sucks ass

  • i can see why people think they sound alike,

but the lyrics are completely different and i get a different feel from each song

  • actually coldplay recorded a demo before this song was thought of

  • More than similar...

More than "inspired by" (Satriani's and creaky boards)

Im sad coldplay migrated to the pop side of music, with all the consequences it implies...

  • I can't believe that Coldplay plagerized!!!

Just because people think Coldplay is better, does not mean tey are!!!! They changed the way it sounds like so people won't think they plagerized but when you here both the songs together, they sound very similar!!!!! I'm mad at Coldplay!!!! >:(

  • It's not possible that Coldplay ripped off Creaky Boards. Coldplay wrote their song first. The question is currently whether Coldplay ripped off Satriani.

  • this song wasn't copied because coldplay had a demo of viva la vida before creaky boards's song i think coldplay sounds better.

  • i think Joe satriani's claim is more lagit than this one, but still... viva la vida sounds like a combination of this song and joe satriani's "If I could Fly"

  • it really doesnt matter b/c coldplays was so much better

  • i agree 100 %

  • I can almost see where it would seem like Coldplay copied this song, but not really because just when it starts to sound anything like "Viva La Vida" it changes.

It's not as obvious of a ripoff as say Vaillna Ice's "Ice Ice Baby" from David Bowie and Freddie Mercury's "Under Pressure"

Oh well. That's my two cents worth.

  • this isn't complete without adding "If I Could Fly" and "Frances Limon"

hell, you could even add Sinatra's version of "Everything Happens to Me" if you really felt like it

  • lol

  • I doubt anyone copied anyone. this stupid song only became famous after they said coldplay plagiarized it which they didn't

  • pico!!!

se parece la empesada nada mas.. y ademas es re complicado hacer musica sin ke aparesca otra version k se le asimile.. son años de creacion, es real k depronto aparesca algo similar :)

  • funny that the song is called "The Songs I Didn't Write"

  • too true

  • is a similar sound but I really think that anyone copied ... you know "creaky boards"? I never heard this band ... if they want money go to work and forget Coldplay ... and even then it was copied, is what saved this garbage ...

  • joe copied a shit load of beaners then if this goes thru check it out

  • I quite like this!

  • There are only so many songs you can write. There comes a time when things will sound the same. The only similarity is a few notes at the beginning. If you listen to classical music, you will hear MANY songs that sound like something contemporary. What about Sly and the Family Stone - Thank you for letting me be myself and Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation...same base track.

  • i realy thing nobody copied nothing, coldplay , Creaky Boards and Satriani's songs are like the same only in the beginings and when those parts are repeated on the songs

i realy thing that was just a coinsidence

or maybe somebody(any of them) heardred other's song and unintetionaly copy some parts

  • Nah thts shit

  • They are a mite similar, but you can't really blame them for that. Shit happens.

  • Sure maybe they sound a little similar. Here is the big difference Coldplay's Viva la Vida is a HIT and rocked the charts for a long time. It still is actually. This song sucks and would even be in any discussions if it wasn't for this Plagerism crap! This would just be another crappy song that no one listens to if it wasnt for Viva la Vida sounding similar.

  • COPY!!!

  • at some moments they sound a tiny bit alike but not a lot

  • Comment removed

  • they sound nothing alike. Coldplay didn't copy them but they definitely copied Joe Satriani

  • Not all that similar. But equally sucky. Actually The Creaky Hipster Malnourished Boards suck even harder than Coldplay.

  • it is obviously a copy

  • they don't even sound similar

  • music is too similar. i love Coldplay, but they should have give credit where credit is due before they released this. that would have solved many problems.

  • it's no the same, seems like viva la vida but not the same

  • they do sound alike but coldplay wins

  • i think this song was not plagerised because its not the same comparable to viva la vida. but if i could fly is the same to viva la vida. its seriosly undoubtable.

  • Coldplay had a demo version recorded prior to this song being public. The fact they sound similar is purely coincidence. And they dont sound all that similar to begin with.

  • I agree. Coldplay has a better version, and I think the Creaky Boards guy wanted publicity. I think he admitted he thought it was a coincidence, but he got famous for it.

  • umm no

there is actually footage of coldplays lead singer at a vreaky boards concert rocking out to this song

  • Yes. And above that, they can write great songs themselves, so why going through all this shit? Big coincident. Like the Creaky Boards version the best though. And I feel bad for Joe Satriani.

  • the only thing that seems alike for both is the melody. I can't decide if it is or not plagerised

  • I don´t know if they copied... And I'll never really know... Nowadays u can't belive in all the things you hear... But when I bought the Viva La Vida album, I thought tha this was a magnific album, and Viva La Vida was the kind of song that would be remembered for decades, a song that would make me think about 2008...

But now I don´t listen to this song as I used to listen... That is sad...

  • now it will be remembered for more things now. Great song and a chance of plagerisim.

  • i don't think they copied

  • I agree. Things like this DO happen... personally, i think its a coincidence.

  • the oold play guy was at the concert were the creaky bords playd the song.

  • i think Satriani has a better case considering his song was released in 2005, which was before both bands admitted as to when their song was written, recorded & released.

  • i just think they just happen to sound similar

as chris martin is said to be recording Viva La Vida before he supposedly went into the concert

besides on the youtube video he said he saw someone that he thought was Chris Martin

he didn't say that he really saw Chris Martin

could have been just a look-a-like

  • Chances are, they both happened to write similar songs. It happens. To say Creaky Boards did it for attention is BS. If wrote this song, then heard the coldplay one, you don't even think about speaking up, because it's a million to 3 thousand... You say "it's our song", than millions of Coldplay fans say "fuck you faggots, you suck, chris martin is god." How would you feel about him if he DID steal it? I doubt he did, but they must feel strongly about it, cause they'll have more hate fans now.

  • its not plagirism, coldplay is brilliant with writing viva la vida, joe satriani also claims this, well hes wrong, coldplay keep up the good work and i love ur song, lost!

  • ok, btw Coldplay would never try stealing anything from this band. Coldplay is so more popular than this band, i am sure Chris Martin wipes his ass with this bands album cover. if you think that coldplay would steal anything from such a sucky band, you can kiss my ass. Coldplay rules!

  • You equate popularity with quality. Everyone knows Coldplay is a just a hacky Radiohead imitator anyway.
