in the original japanese version, the red and green rangers are brothers and the yellow ranger is a guy and the white ranger was NOT suppose to be in this season. @sliverbullet1 Jason DID win. Did you not see how Tommy was defeated after Jason threw the power sword? He flipped over, was weak and was struggling to get to the sword as he had to crawl. If Jason wanted to destroy Tommy it would have been right then and there but he chose to destroy the sword to free Tommy instead. Jason clearly won that fight despite Tommy's many advantages in it. Jason's a boss.

@xOmniCloudx Tommy wasn't weak or depicted as crawling. Yes, he was on the ground and reaching for the sword. But the second Jason pulled out his gun he knew he couldn't best Tommy in melee combat. The dragon shield can only act as a deflector if the flute is being played,it doesn't reflect on it's own. As for the sword,it's true Tommy carried the sword of darkness but then again Jason also carried the sword of power. It was an even fight,until Jason pulled out the gun and took the cowards way.

@WarlockRabbit The Dragon shield gives extra strength, heals the wearer and deflects blasts in addition to has extra protection. Plus Tommy had the sword of darkness which is more powerful than any ranger weapon as well as his dragon dagger. Despite all those advantages Jason STILL won.

@sweeper27 You do realize that this IS mostly a dub right? Power Rangers is derived from its Super Sentai counterpart. They buy footage, edit and redub it and then shoot original American footage here and there. If you watched closely, you'd see goofs and changes between footage constantly in every season. Especially if you watched the original version and then later the PR version.

In zyuranger, Green and Red were brothers. Their father was a knight who disrespected his king and so the king forced him to give him red to raise as his son as punishment. Their father tried to take red back by force but failed and was executed. Green blamed Red for their father's death and that was why he at first sided with Queen Bandora (Rita Repulsa in the american version).

It's not really "watered down" though. They didn't edit anything out violence-wise. It's more like they had a different take on it. Like I said, I'm not firmly siding with either one. I go back and forth over which one I think is better. I watch the American version for several times in a row, get tired and then switch to the Japanese version for several times in a row, only to get tired of THAT and then switch back to the American version...repeat ad nauseum. I really can't decide.

I will say this, though, I do think the characters are better in the Japanese version. On the other hand, I think the American version has the better sound effects (shouldn't be a big deal, I know, but some of the Japanese sound effects, like the "spring" whenever they jump, are overwhelmingly corny). Both sets of actors were really passionate and into the scene. The music I go back and forth on. It really is a constant internal debate.

In the japanese versio, the green ranger was clearly whoopin the red ranger. In the Jap version the red ranger attacked the green ranger after he threw his sword at him and made the green ranger drop his weapons. They censored that in America because they thought that it would be dishonorable for jason to attack tommy while tommy was unarmed and they thought that was too violent.
