in regards to all the idiots rivaling between the Army and Marine Corps: I work with veterans who've served in the four major branches; most of them either Army and Marines and they all get along, goof off together and talk about life in the service. how are Marines first to fight, last to leave when countless Marines have told me they go in first (not always true) get the job done and leave, while the Army occupies... doesn't that make the Army the one dealing with all the shit and the last to leave? ive bin too a ranger briefing before if youre able to go too airborne its 3 weeks of then then you go to pre ranger school which i believe is about 5 weeks then ranger school which is 9 weeks. rangers go through way more then marines and rangers can go way further then marines with schools like halo ad haho.

First of all if you are not in the military don't talk like you know. Secondly, anybody that has been in the military knows that there are good units and not so good units...within every branch. Finally, after you actually get to work with the other branches you realize that you are all not really that different after all... and if you stay in long enough for it to really matter you won't care anymore.

Stop comparing Army Rangers to Marines. I've been in the Army long enough to out grow all the stupid branch rivalry shit. I respect Marines, they are great guys and are soooo reliable in a fight. But Rangers are some mean baby-killing motherfuckers. Be proud of who you serve with but don't forget your place ;-) In the end, I respect all service men that deployed to fight OEF and OIF. I used to hate Marines until I was in the shit with them in Iraq with them eating the same shit.

Ranger school is up there with navy SEALs. people literally DIE in navy seal basic. @Latin5king100 LOL, you're not even in the military though. I on the other hand have intentions of doing it and have been enrolled in an AJROTC program with some friends in an MCJROTC program. And funny because I don't know any marine that says hoorah. I've only heard marines and the commandant himself say "oorah." and yea army basic isnt that hard compared to marines basic. But Army RANGERS would probably be a challenge for marines. Unless you don't know what army rangers are.
Lets do the math. First of all, you say Marine, but for the benefit of a doubt, I'll make it a Grunt, just to make it make sense. A Marine goes through 13 weeks of Boot camp..Alright, cute, takes em a few weeks longer due to slow learning. The Grunt then goes to about 7 weeks of Infantry School. An Army Ranger goes to 9 weeks of Basic training, then another 7 or so weeks of Infantry training (although its all done at once, so its more like 16 weeks of Infantry training)
After which the Ranger goes to about a month of Jump School. After that, the Ranger goes to 8 weeks of RASP (Some of the toughest training in the military) And thats ENTRY TRAINING for the Regiment. Not sure where the fuck you got 5 weeks from, but its about time you got educated motherfucker. Marines are nothing but glorified grunts, no more elite than any Army Grunt. Better pull your head out of your ass if you want to compare a MARINE to a fucking commando....
I went to Drill Sergeant School with DS Walker,, he is a really good guy, always kept us motivated in class, taught us "soft skilled MOS" things to prepare us for the Drill Sergeant Duty. I could go on and on. Congrats Battle, good to see you doing good things still. THIS WE'LL DEFEND BATTLE!!!

If you're not fast enough, you fail. Simple as that. Back then for me, it was Hell trying to compromise speed and efficiency together, when time was scarce and MTI yelling was in ample supply.

A Marine grunt will serve usually 5-6 months in combat zones. His Army counterpart will serve usually 12-15 months. I love all the branches, and have several Marine friends. But theres an old saying that I learned from an old paratrooper.

Now, that just goes to say that, no one is better, but the Army in every war, has done most of the heavy lifting.

Its something like 500K+ Soldiers vs 211K Marines. Also @FrankDeSonia11B the US Marine Corps floats Bn plus sized Marine Corps units with US Navy ships for the sole mission fo being a resposne force for anywhere in the world and the first ones to enter Baghdad doesnt mean anything who cares honestly the Marines put boot to ass ALWAYS anywhere.

@bell4belly: Correction both your BN Recon and Force element can be deployed with 18hrs or less, that is the reason you have a operational navy element continously out. So far as Fallujah is concerned, Army got first kudos as show on CNN, FOX, CBS and BBC. We moved through Baghdad into Al Anbar Province were more of the heavier fighting took place over a longer period of time.

Been there and done that! I would love to be there to see then get off the bus! I have been in the Army twice! My first Basic Training in 1972 I thought I was in a world of SHIT! I completed Basic then stayed in the Army for 3 years! Then In 1982 I went back in the Army and Basic Training for a second time! The second time was much easier due to what I knew and expect in Basic Training!

coming from an army infantry background and having 5 marine recon friends the difference between OSUT and marine bootcamp is very little. there both 14 weeks and equally as tough. we all discussed what we went through and i've done things they havn't and they have done things i havn't to the marines

Some of you Marine loving people are so uneducated. Their basic training doesn't make them better than us. And the truth is, the Army is first to fight. The only reason why that phrase "First ones in" was used by the Marines is because of humanitarian missions. The Marines are also not the last ones out either, the Army is last.

Also it dosnt take a act of congress for the Marines to go into any situation. Unlike the Army it takes a act from congress before army picks up and move. OIF 1 marines was there before anyone else, i know this because i was one of the motherfuckers there.

Stop comparing Army Rangers to Marines. I've been in the Army long enough to out grow all the stupid branch rivalry shit. I respect Marines, they are great guys and are soooo reliable in a fight. But Rangers are some mean baby-killing motherfuckers. Be proud of who you serve with but don't forget your place ;-) In the end, I respect all service men that deployed to fight OEF and OIF. I used to hate Marines until I was in the shit with them in Iraq with them eating the same shit.

And funny because I don't know any marine that says hoorah. I've only heard marines and the commandant himself say "oorah." and yea army basic isnt that hard compared to marines basic. But Army RANGERS would probably be a challenge for marines. Unless you don't know what army rangers are.

Lets do the math. First of all, you say Marine, but for the benefit of a doubt, I'll make it a Grunt, just to make it make sense. A Marine goes through 13 weeks of Boot camp..Alright, cute, takes em a few weeks longer due to slow learning. The Grunt then goes to about 7 weeks of Infantry School. An Army Ranger goes to 9 weeks of Basic training, then another 7 or so weeks of Infantry training (although its all done at once, so its more like 16 weeks of Infantry training)

After which the Ranger goes to about a month of Jump School. After that, the Ranger goes to 8 weeks of RASP (Some of the toughest training in the military) And thats ENTRY TRAINING for the Regiment. I went to Drill Sergeant School with DS Walker,, he is a really good guy, always kept us motivated in class, taught us "soft skilled MOS" things to prepare us for the Drill Sergeant Duty. I could go on and on. Congrats Battle, good to see you doing good things still. THIS WE'LL DEFEND BATTLE!!!

If you're not fast enough, you fail. Simple as that. Back then for me, it was Hell trying to compromise speed and efficiency together, when time was scarce and MTI yelling was in ample supply.

A Marine grunt will serve usually 5-6 months in combat zones. His Army counterpart will serve usually 12-15 months. I love all the branches, and have several Marine friends. But theres an old saying that I learned from an old paratrooper.
"The Air Force gets the pay checks, the Navy gets food galore, the Marines get all the pictures, while the Army fights the war."
Now, that just goes to say that, no one is better, but the Army in every war, has done most of the heavy lifting.

Its something like 500K+ Soldiers vs 211K Marines. @bell4belly: Correction both your BN Recon and Force element can be deployed with 18hrs or less, that is the reason you have a operational navy element continously out. So far as Fallujah is concerned, Army got first kudos as show on CNN, FOX, CBS and BBC. We moved through Baghdad into Al Anbar Province were more of the heavier fighting took place over a longer period of time.

Been there and done that! I would love to be there to see then get off the bus! I have been in the Army twice! My first Basic Training in 1972 I thought I was in a world of SHIT! I completed Basic then stayed in the Army for 3 years! Then In 1982 I went back in the Army and Basic Training for a second time! The second time was much easier due to what I knew and expect in Basic Training!

The only reason why that phrase "First ones in" was used by the Marines is because of humanitarian missions. The Marines are also not the last ones out either, the Army is last.

Also it dosnt take a act of congress for the Marines to go into any situation. Unlike the Army it takes a act from congress before army picks up and move. OIF 1 marines was there before anyone else, i know this because i was one of the motherfuckers there.

Oh and by the way US Army 3rd Infantry Division was the first into Baghdad. Battle for Fallujah...US Army 1st Infantry Division TF 2-2 was first into the breach followed by the Marine Corps but of course only Marines got credit. SOLDIERS died too and weren't even recognized for it. D-Day...all US Army and allied forces. Marines were in the Pacific.
