What people need to understand is.... graffiti and street art are very different..
Graffiti or writing is i would say one of the purest forms of art, you ask for nothing but get give everyting while risking your own freedom to do it..
whereas street artest normally have dollar signs in there eyes and are trying to bogart off of the rawness of graffiti and sell it... in my opionion there are a bunch of sellouts.... I hold names that i have seen up on the my train line for the last ten years higher then people like banksy...
People don't look at the essence of the tag... Many have amazing style. Essentially calligraphy. Oh ya crews are not gangs ye goof... Crews are just groups of friends who paint.
I personally LOVE street art/graffiti. However, the graffiti must be tasteful. For example, when my school was tagged, it was just crappy spray paint that said a gang name. I do realize that not everyone feels this way, and I can deal with that. I just like art, and I count graffiti made by a street artist as art. I don't advocate gangs who tag or tagging groups, just street artists (as in that's the only illegal thing they do-make graffiti/street art).

Graffiti is a form of art, but like a gun it depends on how you use it. You have people who use graffiti irresponsibly and you have the ones that use graffiti legally. I have seen some great graffiti art in my life, but I have also seen bad graffiti messages like, "Fuck you." written on street walls. It's unfair to say graffiti is bad because not everyone abuses it.

I love the beauty and artful perspective of graffiti. Whether its elaborate and creative or simple and gritty, street art is by far my favorite type of art ever. The fact that the artists have the canvas of the world and the brush of a spray can is just wonderful to me. Some people see graffiti and are disgusted, whereas I always stop and admire its wonder, and the balls the person had who did it.
I had to go from New Jersey to the Art Institute of San Francisco in 1969 on MY OWN DIME. When I graduated from High School. No One PAID MY WAY. Do not tell me about 'having things easy. Try to stick to the subject on the F - - -k ---g, site or show your real balls. I have worked to where I have gotten. I learned about people like you from 'NAPA".

In June 2010 I was arrested for possession of stolen moter vehicle accessories. In March 2011 I was arrested for possession of illegal weapons. When I was charged the 2nd time the police wondered why I had 2 cans of empty spraypaint so they investigated and later charged me with damage to property. When I met with my probation officer she changed my perspective on grafitti from "where could I paint downtown" to "I should open an art shop that allows graffiti artists to express. RESPECT.

I love the beauty and artful perspective of graffiti. Whether its elaborate and creative or simple and gritty, street art is by far my favorite type of art ever. The fact that the artists have the canvas of the world and the brush of a spray can is just wonderful to me. Some people see graffiti and are disgusted, whereas I always stop and admire its wonder, and the balls the person had who did it.

In June 2010 I was arrested for possession of stolen moter vehicle accessories. In March 2011 I was arrested for possession of illegal weapons. When I was charged the 2nd time the police wondered why I had 2 cans of empty spraypaint so they investigated and later charged me with damage to property. When I met with my probation officer she changed my perspective on grafitti from "where could I paint downtown" to "I should open an art shop that allows graffiti artists to express. RESPECT.
