Many religions and cultures have a story of it. Now, this is were legend and history collide. (as far as I know) Huge flying lizards that breathed fire have no fossil evidence, yet empires like in Asia and Indians in North America have the EXACT same legends of flying lizards that breathed fire.

Right! And this is true for ALL European civilizations who have the exact same legend. Flying scaled lizards breathing fire! They called them drakks or drakko or... DRAGON! The Chinese called them LONG and the Aztecs and Toltecs in Central America and Mexico called them Quetzalcoatl. Some of the North-American tribes (Navajos, Apache, Hopis) called it the Thunderbird - a scaled flying animal with a head like that of an alligator.
