Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for posting this production. I was about eight years old when he defected and I remember seeing this on the news and being ever after aware of this remarkable person.
Death is something no one may ever understand unless they loose the ones they love and even then, we may never know until that moment comes to those of us left, the living. "Dancing Through Darkness" is so sad and it makes me cry.
@MickeyLove01 If you took that comment seriously you are the naive and unsophisticated one...the comment was made months ago in protest to someone who slammed the Americans speaking about Nureyev and the "arts" in this documentary, who lived in England. Look at the first comment at the bottom from a year ago. It was just a little retaliation, dear.
@Isawthemwhen Maybe so but it made you sound like a petulant child. Do you think everyone in Russia walks around the streets drunk on vodka too? Actually many do, but I know that from seeing it in real life and not by an opinion on tv.
@MickeyLove01 Sounds to me like you are utterly childish. Maybe it is from living in that little country in western europe that gives you such an комплекс неполноценности (inferiority complex) and humorless, dogged mentality.
@Isawthemwhen "Humourless dogged mentality" LOL!! I take it you have never been to England or anywhere else in the UK. You are probably of Russian or Ukrainian decent living in the usa.
@Isawthemwhen I knew you were an immigrant without even looking at any profile. Those who must "list" their travels as achievements invite suggestion of self doubt. I love stereotypes. they are what the world is all about.
@MickeyLove01 Travel must be more important and self defining for you than me. Some people can "list" it like food tried and experienced and I hardly think of it as an "achievement" more circumstantial. Besides you don't really know a place until you live there for a while anyway.
Nureyev was a true gypsy. He traveled more relentlessly than any celebrity I have ever read about, even when he had full blown aids
Thank you for posting this. I was fortunate enough to have seen Nureyev perform in 1990 (already ill and weak) with his touring company. I'll never forget meeting him backstage. He was so kind and generous and asked me about my ballet studies. I could hardly speak, he was larger than life. A genius of dance.
Wauw, what a great experience that most have been! I'm too young myself to have seen him in real life, but he's such an inspiration when doing my ballet exercises... so now I'm trying to find as much information about him as possible.

Why is when I hear the Brits talk "performing arts," I think of bad teeth, over-cast days, Arabs and tired furs...mistake to let the wankers talk...

@Isawthemwhen probably because you are naive and untravelled.
