Nice video-let's not forget the Fox Theatre that showed all the first-run movies in the 60's. Redlands mall...what a waste of space not to mention the historic buildings that were torn down. Anyone remember the building next to the Flamingo bar that used to have a giant slot car track that you could rent time? Would have been mid-60's. North vs. South...always has been, always will be. I lived on the "newer" Coronado Drive in the 60's and 70's...Crafton, Moore, RHS '73...visit a lot.
Pretty cool video. We grew up in Redlands about the same time. I was class of 86. We used to live up Lagunia and a left on University st..One thing is for sure Redlands has changed a lot.
I went to Crafton Elementary back when they had the old school house since torn down. That old building was a real piece of history, I was sad to hear it was torn down in the 70's. I can't find any pictures of it anywhere, but I'm sure those who spent their kindergarten years remember.
Also the old Griswalds near Ford Park, was always a special place to eat, now an LA Fitness Center.
Nice video and narration of childhood memories in Redlands, where I also grew up in the 60's and 70's. Although you didn't mention the University or Redlands or the Redlands Bowl which are two of my favorite places in town, and the best Fireworks display in california on 4th of july.
Nice story and I like the way you did the video. It kept my interest till the end. The house I lived in was near Prospect Park in the mid sixties when Redlands was really nice. Redlands has changed so much that is hard to recognized a lot of it.
I remember the gas station and an old Mexican man who used to work there we called him loco. He was a nice guy and would get me something from the vending machine when my parents would get gas. Oh n taco Tia is good lol
I am a 7th generation Redlander and will be moving to oregon this summer if all goes well. A lot has changed even since this google map was made but I wonder if I will be as nostalgic when I go. This is a nice historical walk and I think I should do one too. We should all do one. It is like a time capsule. And one day when there are zero orange groves left at least there will be something to look back at.
I know this sounds kind of stupid, but I am moving to redlands in about 2 months I am not going to have any friends and if someone would maybe want to hang out with me or go for a coffee hit me up plzzzz I love redlands it seems so cool, I will be living right off university right next to the college. THANKSS
Preferably chicks, but if guys we can play basket ball or something.
We grew up with in 5 years of each other. I left Redlands when I was young ... 3rd grade, but probably because of that, Redlands has a mystic in my mind that no other place has. I do miss the oranges, even as I live in Orange County. Thanks for stirring the memories.
You made a mistake at the library. It's not the Quaker Brothers, it's the Smiley Brothers. Hence the name SMILEY PUBLIC LIBRARY. Good video though. I live in Redlands and have never quite seen it like this before.
Was just thinking of Redlands, and came accross this video! I lived @ Barton & Bellevue for several years. You didn't show it :(, but was still nice to see places friends and I once frequented. Thanks martyn50.
i love your video im too from redlands late 70' 80' timeframLive Oak Canyon behind hospital grew up with my grandparents. however my parents moved all over remember little rascales liquer store by stater brothers. My granpmother worker for the Da office. I miss Redlands strayberry mansion. Military moves me so much i wish i never left Redlands the Beveraly hills of the east.
@IXIRobertIXI In Teddy's time, I'm sure it was that way. Today he would say: What happened to the good people that used to run the place? Why is it soo corrupt?
hey what up man.. i still live in redlands but the house i grew up in was on 1534 clay st.. one block up from ur house on ohio.. my backyard wall was the wall of the orange village apartments
How long has it been since u have been in redlands? The theater u mentioned is closed and boarded up and a nice fine theater was made about 11 years ago, and u also forgot to mention citrus plaza, its the biggest shopping and money making area within the area of redlands, highland and yucipa. Alot has changed.
What a great video. I know ur parents & ur sister Joanne. Im the guy who didnt know how 2 get a possum out of ur garage 4 ur mother. But I did know who to intervene and give chase to the two burglars that were inside that same garage. We moved from Ohio St two years ago as well. I appreciated my tour through Redlands via your video.
I will post a video response to your video. IYou will recognize some historic spots in that video. Know where the jail cell is?
If I ever get the chance,I am moving back to Redlands..
