  • oh Scotland what a wonderful place!!!! I was in edimburg only for 2 days and a half and fell in love of the city!!! my souvenir of course a book of robert burns poems....

  • I love this version of the song. I have always found it more "authentic" and less commercial

  • Woww...wonderful.....

  • Thanks for sharing this with us! Wonderful! God bless you!

  • A new guy has a load of songs from St Andrews in an atick...

    !!! standrewstv/music listen to this!!

  • Tonight is Burns Night. I have had my haggis, my neaps and my tatties (and doesn't a drop of scotch poured on improve the flavour of haggis?) and my supplementary beverage.

Yesterday, at the funeral of my Scottish friend Bill Mitchell, I heard this tune for the first time. It was one of the best services I've been to (and attending funerals is everyone's retirement hobby until one becomes the main attraction) but this track, having vocals, would have made it even better.

  • @davidvharry Thank you.

  • Happy Hogamany and happy Ne' 'Er!

  • Luvly song to see the NY in for the early hours gone midnight...

  • Thanks for uploading this version, which reflects the construction from Burns' era. The substitution of the tune from "Can ye labour lea" by George Thomson is of a later date.

  • This is performed by Ronnie Browne (Of The Corries). Very beautiful!

  • Ronnie Browne (Of The Corries) is a superb singer! This is a very beautiful version of Auld Lang Syne :-) Presently one of my favourites :-)

  • Let us all drink from the cup of kiindness in the New Year and let the winds of diveresty be at our backs! Take care ADonovan43

  • How do I find this on iTunes? (Who sings it? What's the name of the album? etc.)

  • Dude, this is the corries!!! EPIC!! So glad I found this!

  • This is the only version on Youtube I can find with 'brought' pronounced properly. Very nice!

  • ... It is just so beautiful... The warm husky color of a man's voice and the clean crisp sound of the guitar... :) ... Thank you for sharing!

  • Scottish History, Legends and Songs. Past and Present, In a word or two- Kick Ass.

  • Thanks for the detailed explanation regarding the origin, composition, lyrics and the background of the song.

I wonder how many non-English ( Scottish ) speaking countries sing this New Year Eve immortal song translated in their national languages..

  • i love the scottish accent!!

  • This is so beautiful.

  • we( our group of friends) usually sing this song.........

    i love it

  • Question: what's the name of the person singing?

This track is from Linn Records "The Complete songs of Robert Burns"

  • its good, my friend!

    Btw, happy new year everybody!

    from Vietnam

  • An excellent poem full of the vitality of friendship. Worth keeping up the tradition. Thank you for your explanations. Happy 2010 and may your pint-stowp always be brimming over.

  • Ah Tis a Bonnie song I dinna ken how this ballad could be any more Bonnie

  • this is from me to all those no longer with us whom we have loved.Always in my heart Teresa and for me Roberto Clemente ..Dad and all the others.I still miss you.

  • simply breathtaking.

  • It wasn't written by Burns, he wrote it down, but the lyrics aren't his.

  • it was a traditional song that Burns altered some of the lines -making it more modern and possibly giving it more understanding - and his fame brought new new light to its meaning.

  • Yes, after looking into the song before using part of the chorus in my own new single release - that Burns was not the original creator of Auld Lang Syne - but without him I doubt we'd have this wonderful old song...

  • @nederland4045 He may have borrowed some of the lyrics from James Watson and part of the tune from Albert Laighton others, but the song as it is was compossed by him.

  • Happy new year!

    xox

  • Loved that. Thank you - and a happy 2010 to you and yours :)

  • Thanks! Same to you and keep warm!

  • best version on Youtube! Thankyou!

  • Thnks for sharing flybreath. The Bard stirs something up in us Scots - Truly Beautiful.

  • A Very Happy New Year 2010 to All !

  • it is a really good song and i like the scotish language and pipe music.

  • beautiful

  • Very moving. Thanks.

  • This is a good original song sung by Ronnie Brown and he is a real Scotsman.

  • English accent is too obvious. A Scots song has to be sung by a Scot.

  • Unless of course it has been adopted by the whole English speaking world as its hymn of New Year, rememberance and farewell.

  • nice song

  • what a beautiful song in a beautiful language.

  • makes me wanna go get some whiskey

  • @xxJakeXJekelxx You'll be Irish then?
