yeah, i noticed a lot of those business and spam type vids too. i never sub to them. i see enough infomercials and get enough spam in my inbox, don't need more. i imagine youtube is like anything else. it's about profit. you know google bought them a year ago or so.

Youtube has changed on a corporate level, to make it more profitable -- but users still have the power to do what they do, and it's the reason that youtube is succeeding, so any changes are irrelevant.

Always good to see you Robin...they grow up fast. My stepkids are now 21 and 22...blows my mind. Great to hear that life is really going well. Still singing here too and enjoying life. Anyway, I hope you are able to find community and make videos again...you have always been in the top tops of people I liked to watch. I made a similar video to the one you just made a while back. I had quit vlogging close to two years ago myself and have been missing it and hoping to find commnity again. Hopefully seeing this will help me go beyond my testing the waters video and make some more.

Robin, good to see you back. I have never understood the fuss about professional content and the partnership stuff. I wouldn't even know about it if people didn't talk about it. It hasn't seemed to change what people can do. But perhaps a brand new person coming on here looking for community would have a harder time finding people. Many of my favorites blog less so I have had to search out new people.But most of the ones who quit or cut way back just seem to be busy or tired of vlogging.

Welcome back. It is good to hear from you again. Things are a little different on YouTube. It seems like the regular folks are making less videos, but they are still around. YouTube hasn't pushed anyone out. The 'professional videos" are more prevalent and you can watch old TV shows on here now (though I don't) but vloggers are still doing their thing on here. I'm glad you are coming back.

Hey Robin, it is sooo good to see you! Girl, you have no idea but your voice is so soothing to listen to! Yes, Youtube has changed and changed in a very big way. Right now it is all about professional content. The little guys like us have seen less viewers and comments. I can't even remember the last time any of my vids made honors. I was never big anyway but occasionally I would get a vid on the most discussed. Ooh & BTW Partnership isn't anything big..I wish it was! LOL!! ;)

I heard the same things you did about the "new" YouTube. What I've seen that has changed so far is the user channel formats, the ability to make HD and 3D videos, and there are now free movies that are available for viewing.

First off, welcome back! I've always thoroughly enjoyed your videos.

Secondly, congrats on having not one, but TWO kids in college! That's amazing! Especially these days.

As far as "is youtube still youtube", the answer is yes and no. There are still a lot of little people in youtube but they do have a voice, a lot of the "partners" actually go out of their way to put the little people back in the spotlight, but there are a lot more "big guys" than before.

welcome back. i've been on a break for awhile too, I don't think youtube is really different for people who get less than 1,000 views per video. if you became a partner and have higher views there might be other issues along with that. post what you want and take it from there. Keep sharing and caring!

I've reasent started Youtube ,i dont know what it used to be like ,but it is know a cmplete fix ,they seem to be playing all kinds of little tricks to prevent me reaching people - in paticular the hit counts are fixed ,once you get abve 300 or so ,they do somthing that slows your hit counter down or even just locks it compleatly. Also the number of pros -pretending to be amitures is unbelievable and they are clearly promoted over genuin users.

Its all a coperate sham now

YouTube has changed a lot since you left. Yes, there is still user created content, but a lot of the content has turned into content driven by the "bigger guys".

I still think that you have a place here, as well as everyone else, but like I said, YouTube has changed.

Sadly, its now become corporate-tube.

User-content is still here, but it no longer solely drives the content popularity. The biggest private businesses have invested in their place in Youtube to the extent that they have relegated user-content to the sidelines.
