  • Islam is the first abolitionist movement in human history. It put in place several mechanisms to free slaves and gradually dismantle the institution of slavery. For example, Islam encouraged its followers to atone for sins through freeing slaves. It forbade their sexual exploitation, while permitting freeing slaves through marriages. Slaves who bore children were freed. And most important, Islam forbade the kidnaping and enslaving of new people...etc

  • @Bashir38 dont come with a bunch of lies it was the European colonial powers, which abolished slavery in the Muslim world.

The Islamic prophet Muhammad and many of his companions bought, sold, freed, and captured slaves.

Only children of slaves or non-Muslim prisoners of war could become slaves, never a freeborn Muslim.

  • @pkalle120, pre 19 century Europeans enflamed slavery and turned it into economies of scale. Hence, the triangular trading system. European economies benefitted immensely from the slave trade. And most important, the majority of the slaves traded by Europeans were kidnapped free africans.

In contrast, Muslim slaves were defeated combatants in invading armies that were assimilated into society through slavery and then allowed to gain their freedom through the mechanisms I described above.

  • @Bashir38 According to Sharia, slaves are considered human beings and possessed of some rights on the basis of their humanity. In addition, a Muslim slave is equal to a Muslim freeman in religious issues and superior to the free non-Muslim.

  • @Bashir38 For a variety of reasons, internal growth of the slave population was not enough to fulfill the demand in Muslim society. This resulted in massive importation, which involved enormous suffering and loss of life from the capture and transportation of slaves from non-Muslim lands.

  • @Bashir38 The Arab slave trade was most active in West Asia, North Africa and East Africa. By the end of the 19th century, such activity had reached a low ebb. In the early 20th century (post World War I) slavery was gradually outlawed and suppressed in Muslim lands, largely due to pressure exerted by Western nations such as Britain and France.

The Qur'an recognizes the basic inequality between master and slave and the rights of the former over the latter.

  • @pkalle120, Discuss slavery as a state adopted strategy, not from the actions of a few misguided individuals. Research could only find very few Yemeni Arab traders who were implicated into the slave trade. The Muslim empire, from the 4 righteous kalifs to the ottomans, dealt with the existing reality as abolitionists. The religion of Islam forbade 1400 years ago the unjust kidnappings into slavery.

  • @pkalle120, You are misinformed, the holy Quran deals with an existing reality and gradually readies the population to rid itself from the evils of slavery. The Quran talks for the first time, in human history, of people as being born equal and as being equal in the eye of God. False distinctions based on race, gender or color are effectively eliminated by declaring "The best among you is the most righteous."

Christianity however perpetuated the suffering of slaves.

  • @Bashir38 your are wrong, why did muhammed bought, sold, freed, and captured slaves?

"And most important, Islam forbade the kidnaping and enslaving of new people...etc " the new people ?? who are they, do you mean muslims??

Muslims used slaves longer than Europeans.

Sudan stil uses slaves, these slaves are christians.

You belive in a big lie and i hope for you that you begin to questioning thing about your religion.

  • @pkalle120, Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) had no slaves. He was gifted a servant boy which he freed, and a female slave, whom he married as a lawful wife with full rights. Slavery was an existing reality, so the prophet and his companions bought and set free countless slaves. Pagan Arabs fought in fervor against Islam, because it threatened to bring change and social equality. Slaves and the poor were the first converts to Islam.

    Sudan????

  • @Bashir38 you live in a world in denial of the truth. Even muslim themself say that it right for muslims to have slaves and it exists so many sources to write about that Muhammad had slaves. Stop belive in a big lie.

Anyone who is familiar with this subject, know that I am writing the truth. This is also writen in your religious writings the quran, the hadith etc..

  • @pkalle120 It is called taqiya the muslim tradition of lies and deniel to the unbelievers, mo tought this to his followers in Mecca! I wonder what slave girl Mo married the the 9 year old Aisha? The biggest lie told to uneducated black people is return to the god of your fathers allah, hell the muslims were 1st to make African slaves for 100's of years before they even saw a white European!Check on the history of the black muslim tribes that sold out the weaker tribes to the muslims in KENYA

  • @MrNickbento Kenya African blk muslims that BHO is so proud of his African blood line were the ones selling out the blacks as he is doing today. Sadly 99% of American blks voted him into office. So with his health care bill is typical muslim to kill the black babys he's funding abortion most of, not all are done in the ghettos by blacks Study the reason and history of abortion. It was to cut down the population of the blk people! This is fact! BHO doesn't care for blks look starving family KENYA

  • @Bashir38 Mary the Coptic Christian was given to Muhamad and she NEVER married him! Pagans fought Muhammad because he was insulting and a royal pain. Jews and Christians fought him because he was a false prophet promoting his false ideology.

Also, don't forget that Muhammad got 20% (1/5th) of all booty from the wars Muslims were involved in for him and "Allah". Women and children were part of that booty. I wonder what Allah did with his spoils of war?

  • @Bashir38 You have right in some points but also wrong.
