  • Ah, Balamb Garden...

Where the staple food is hot dogs, where the students are taught how to properly kill, where the headmaster looks like Robin Williams, where the school is funded by a fat, magical bastard, and where they keep T-Rexaurs in their own backyard.

    Ah, memories.

  • It also brings back memories of playing 10+ hours straight of a damn card card game so I could win enough Elnoyle cards to make the Lionheart at a slightly earlier stage of the game. It was totally worth it, that sword kicked everything's ass.

  • 1)Listen to this. 2) Enjoy nostalgic memories about PS1 era JRPG's. 3) Play Final Fantasy XIII. 4) Cry.

  • Used to play FF8 with my older sister when I was much younger on our PS1, it was one of the ways we bonded. I could cry listening to this, the memories it brings back :')

  • This peacefull music is disturbed by a T-Rexaur encounter.

  • WHY THEY DON'T MAKE GAMES LIKE THIS ANYMORE?? :'(

  • definitely the best final fantasy by far :)

  • Best game ever, the musical composition is just fantastic, The Black Mages and Nobua rock.

Get such a feeling of happiness inside whenever you hear the music of Final Fantasy.

  • KTAK KTAK KTAK KTAK KTAK *transition....*KTAK KTAK KTAK KTAK pweet pweet pweet pweet.

  • Is it bad if i have memories of high school with this song playing in the background

  • When my ears first heard this, my first thought was how much of an upgrade the music was from Final Fantasy VII. Even though I love both soundtracks<3

  • I spent hundreds of hours playing FF8 with friends. And we played a German version having very little knowledge of the language hahaha Listening to FF music now is like a travel back in time :)

  • If this music played at my school, and girls had Seed's uniforms, I would have been the happiest student ever.

  • *Tears in eyes* it's so beautiful,DAMN IT i want to be a Seed and have Quistis as my teacher :P

  • This music is awesome ^_^, should hear it in school?

  • When I think of this, I think of how lucky we are to have such an awesome game to guide us through life. This game lead me through school and it does until now. This music gets me ready for exams. I walk around school with this music. This music is beautiful. I want to go to Balamb Garden, but I can't, so I'll bring Balamb Garden to me. :)

  • Wow this brings back memories. It's almost depressing.

  • "You know the rules, Mr. Dincht: no T-Boards on school grounds."

    YES. A T-BOARD IS BAN-WORTHY THAN A FRIGGIN T-REXAUR.

  • Geez, i remember when i first played FF VIII... my first FF. I was like 7, maybe 8. I swear i ran through my whole school looking for a damn T-REX !!! One day i was sent to the infirmary and i didn't want to. The teacher asked me why and i replied, shouting "BECAUSE THERE'S NO QUISTIS WAITING FOR ME, YOU DAMN GALBADIAN !"

  • The most bad-ass mercenaries in the world are teenagers that listen to soothing music all day. Pretty much indisputable bcuse they keep t-rexes in their back yard. GOtta love ff8.

  • I used to visit Balamb Garden all the time just to hear this x)

Even when there were more important things to do in the game.

    Such a nostalgic song.

  • I would love to have gone to school at Balamb Garden. I mean hell it look's so chill there!

  • Mannn, this brings me back to when I was 12. Good times & simpler times. I'm a recent university grad and I gotta say that this music definitely reminds me of chilling with friends for hours shooting the shit in our student centre. Might visit again soon lol. Time flies, so stay young!

  • @RavenousScribe agreed

  • When I first heard this back when I was a kid and played ita gain through highschool...I always pictured this song playing as I walked through the hallways. Either during lunch or class to class. It just made everything so much better :).....WHY CANT BALAMB GARDEN BE REAL? *Cries and sobs* T^T

  • Nobuo Uematsu = Musical Genius.

  • final fantasy wiki- In the game's English translation, Zell loves eating hot dogs, but in the ending FMV he is seen to be eating Japanese flavored bread. This is because in the original Japanese Zell's favorite food was flavored bread, not hot dogs

  • When I was in high school , this song played in my mind everyday . I wanted to play this on the intercom but I'm not in the student council ...... Truth be told , my college was quite shitty but added with this song ... A whole new environment appeared . Maybe one of these days I should go back and screw around >:)

  • Felt like hearing this today, wow what a nostalgia, great talent shines far......wish time could freeze for video gamers and so on........

  • I love it so muccchhhhh

  • I wish I studied in a place like Balamb Garden,such a peaceful place.

  • This song/game always made me feel like marshmellows. Dont know why

  • @ImAngusCunt I thought I was the only one getting the sub messages lol do you ever feel like hotdogs?

  • suddenly high school memories rushing in my head..happiness sadness bitterness and all kind of fellings..

  • Walking down in the hallway between trees line at university, seeing guys play circus tricks and groups of girl walk by with their giggle softly here and there, you put your hands at the back of your head slowly walk by the sound "clop...clop...clop" of your foot while this playing. ~Aaaah~ Somehow peace is fully filled in me and I can see a place that I wish to stay for my entire life as a student and instructor.

  • Wow can't believe how long ago this was made now.... lovely piece of music, i loved balamb garden

  • NOSTALGIA EVERYWHERE!!!

  • The sound of a video game headache.

  • Okay. Back then, I loved Final Fantasy VII. That was my first FF game. But this released and DAMN! THIS became my favorite! Oh~ god! The songs will woo you over and over.

FFVII had its spinoffs like Crisis Core. Why not FFVIII?

I'm so glad they released this on the PS Store since my original game CD can't play on my PS3.

Also I need a new Music CD since my Ebay copy have skips on the most beautiful tracks of this game.

    Which is better guys?

The floating Balamb Garden or the Ragnarok?

  • Damn....to be a teenager and actually have the time play this game again....that'd be heaven........stay young, kids

  • Shit...hearing this makes me want to pop FF VIII into my PS2 again, like, RIGHT NOW...

  • Our world needs a nuetral organization like Garden and SeeD to help right about now...

  • @julex234 I second that, hell Id be signing up if I was still a kid to go to a Garden! imagine a mobile school where kids grow up to be strong, independent, Intellegent, and grateful for what they have

  • If one day BGU comes real ! I'll quit my engineer school to become a seed !

  • It astounds me that such great music exists.

  • This should be played quietly over intercom in all schools all the time.

  • @julex234 yeah, but you see.... the problem with that is.... it would make school fun, exciting, and an enjoyable place to be... and we all know... NOBODY would WANT that -_- xD

  • @julex234 Yeah, I play it in my head a lot during school.

  • @julex234 Agreed!

  • No. They shouldn't. You know how annoying that would become.

I see where your coming from though. Nostalgia is a powerful thing.

  • @julex234 Ding... Will all SeeD graduates please report to the headmaster's office...

  • Thumbs up if you immidietly thought Headmaster Cid looked like Robin Williams :)

  • @shadowdazzy I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE!

  • @shadowdazzy and by immediately i mean IMMEDIATELY!!! :D

  • @shadowdazzy omg yes haha

  • @shadowdazzy Looks like Jack Nicholson...

  • @shadowdazzy I was maybe 10-11, and immediately imagined his soothing voice speak every single word Cid spoke. This music went so well with it, it was like listening to the grandfather I never had teach life lessons lol

  • @shadowdazzy LOL that was the very first thing I thought when I got the game when I was a kid :P

  • this world would be so much better if all high schools and colleges were like balamb garden

  • @Mohawk697 that what me and my brother were saying so many times if only

  • @Mohawk697 University for killing machines? Sure would!

  • @Mohawk697 Yeah that would be awesome..where all students are working together as a team to defend the school...not like in real life school where kids beat one another...

  • This song takes me back to when i was sitting in my room, the bright sun easing through my blue striped curtains. My blue sheets are glistening, and a feeling of peace. Sitting 7 inches away from my tv screen, not having a care in the world. This song takes to when i was a child, this song is the theme for a peacerfull Summerday.

  • @Mohawk697 I feel that way too. I feel really sad when I think bout those days, cus everything was way better back then.

  • Takes me back to the good old days....

  • When I was a child I thought that Garden was like every HS on Earth. Oh well, I was totally wrong...

  • @Cognoscentiable You're not alone. That I can assure you.

  • Japan is going to be the first country in the world to build an actual Garden. Just you wait. You'll see that I'm right.

  • it would be awesome if my high school plays this song on the P.A. system during mornings before class starts. It would fit perfectly while the students are chatting, or in my case dozing off

  • This song made the game feel so damn weird to play.

  • this is one my fave song in all games ive played.

daydreaming at schl while listening, can almost imagine classmates to have bubble chat over their heads. haha

im not that good at piano but i am really thankful to have learned how to play this.

    XD

thank u very much sir Nobuo Uematsu!

  • I listened to this as a 6th grader, as a highschool student, as a college student, and currently as a med student, and I've realized this is a song for students like it was for the kids at balamb.

  • beautiful, brings back memories of my first playthrough

  • ♥ Wouldn't It Be A Dream If Schools Played This In The Early Morning? It Would Probably Make Academic Life More Stress-Free. As They Say, "Music Soothes The Savage Beast." =) ♥

  • @jennbei

I'll be listening to this the next time I'm on campus :)

  • @smoothbanana ♥ Good For You! =) ♥

  • Sounds like a beautiful dream to me

  • @Cognoscentiable

Absolutely! It seems my whole life is.

  • @Cognoscentiable VERY lol my childhood is video game music and old school vietnamese songs lol

  • I sincerely hope Uematsu can watch some of these videos and read these comments.

The man has created a masterpiece collection and along with that an infinitely grateful fanbase. This may sound a little tacky but I feel these games have honestly shaped my very existence.

    Nostalgia? I think so.

  • @Heyya1012 Hell no, not tacky at all. I totally agree with you. Some people have a passion for books, some for travel, some for boats, some for cars. In our case it happens to be RPG's. The kind of fantasies that we would only be able to live out in these very games.

The wonderful thing about Uematsu, is the music he creates is SO freaking fantastic, that it makes you feel like you're RIGHT in the game. It amazed me how something like music could have such a large impact, but he did it!

  • @Heyya1012 I totally agree with everything you just said.

  • @Heyya1012 I can most certainly say that FF has shaped my "very existence", as you call it. Very poetic btw! :) I value my friends above all and I fight for "justice" in my own everyday and "justice" for the people who need it in my own little world. I used to be a bully at times, when I was younger, but it all changed with the things I did, fx playing Final Fantasy and playing in a band. I think FF made me change a lot more than I really want to admit... :)

  • @Heyya1012 a lot :_(

  • @Heyya1012 Could not agree with you more dude :)

  • @Heyya1012 I'm pretty much Squall. I've become what I am because of this game. It's shaped me in ways not many other things have.

  • @Cognoscentiable All of ff7, ff8, ff10 sum up my whole child-hood I can't stop feeling this sad nostalgia whenever I listen to them ):

  • @Cognoscentiable It is too fucking normal.

  • I wish balamb garden was real, all clean so large and awesome, instead we got crappy schools and colleges in real life

  • @hellothereboyo so true dude. I wish that too!

  • @Cognoscentiable Yeah, considering it's exactly the same with me! When I listen to these songs... I remember memories I've even forgotten completely. It's great. Finding your childhood again with music.

  • My first playstation game and first song i hear ♥

  • @nico77millo hahaha that was my fist game too...cool

  • i prononce this BALL- UHM. what do you pronounce it like?

  • @indieglee261 you like boobs?

  • @pipou234 wth idiot i meant thats the way i pronounce balamb

  • @indieglee261 I stutter the name everytime, lol jk

  • @indieglee261

I always pronounced it like Bale -um

  • I get this stuck in my head all the time. I have vivid memories of endlessly walking about the college because it took forever to get anywhere, and you always had to go back and forth talking to everyone.

  • @Cognoscentiable

Nope, I'm the same way XD

  • @Cognoscentiable totally normal!ive grown up with many games xD
