@travitofajitas Back squats are not bad for your back. Do them. Squats cure cancer. The front squat moves the centre of gravity forwards and places more emphasis on your quads to do the moving rather than your posterior chain as in a regular back squat. Alternate them, do them one after the other. Just squat :-)
It looks like front squats also build strength in your hands more than regular squats. is this true?
