I complained to Douglas about the killing of Smithback; I LIKED SMITHBACK! Any journalist worthy of the name would return from the grave to accept an award.
while I like their first few books, I think sometimes they stray too much into the unknown and do not provide enough scientific explanation to what they propose. An example would be Wheel of Darkness.
They're both amazing writers. Together they create an amazing world, but alone they're equally great. "Terminal Freeze" gave me goosebumps and "Jennie" almost made me cry.
OMG..OMG..OMG..I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THESE TWO GUYS...THEIR BOOKS ARE AMAZINGLY AWESOME....I love the character Pendergast and D'Agosta....I can read one of their books in about 3 days and I am bummed out cause there's nothing now for me to look forward when I come home from work..I've just finished reading FEVER DREAM...that is a page turner in itself..now they are going to create another new character for a book..Hope they don't kill off Pendergast...PLEASE DON'T DO THAT...
@MapOfYourHead135 LOL..I'm still waiting for my answer..I guess they are still busy writing their new character and new book due out in winter 2011...sounds great..can't wait for it.
@JAdoreSephora Damn it xD I' m still waiting to read "Fever Dream" (that come out in Spain this September) so please don't tell me spoilers but, they leave definetely to write about Pendergast or just for the moment?
@MapOfYourHead135 aaahhh don't worry u won't read any spoilers here from me..but trust me Fever Dream is excellent..I don't understand your last statement to me...they r writing a new book, with a new character named Gideon Crew..Preston and Douglas don't go anymore into details of this new character...Trust me there are other books with Pender and D'Agosta the older ones I haven't read yet...When u read Fever Dream it explains it all at the end of the book/chapter..
@jdreyer65 CONSTANCE GREEN ...should be played by someone who has a major dark, mysterious look to them...those two I couldn't see playing Constance...but the rest you mentioned sounds fantastic...
utopia is just screaming to be done as a movie, and I can only one company to do it. Disney !!! can you imagine the tie ins to the park. come on disney buy this property and do this movie much like atlantis, the only way I see it being pulled off is as an animeted film, but the possibilities are end less. another one I'd love to see made into a movie is riptide. disney has already shown that pirate movies sell. one mired in truth can only do better
I love these guys and their books, the Pendergast series is beyond good but u gotta check out their solo books as well. Keep up the good work, and I can't wait for the Pendergast movie.
I have read all the books they have written together and I am currently reading "Cemetery Dance" and I can honestly say that there wasn't one I didn't like. I think after "Cemetery Dance" I'll read one of their solo works, and if those are as good, I will have great reading material for a while! Thank You!
I just finished Cemetary Dance. Not one of their best. I don't know what it was, it just wasn't that suspenseful to me. But these guys are still one of my favorite authors of all time. Looking forward to their next joint effort!
When I read Aloysius Pendergast, I picture Aaron Eckhart made very pale, slightly slimer with a New Orl'ns accent. I thought he'd be great. Smithback, I picture Ivan Sergei; and Constance Green would be Alicia Leigh Willis from General Hospital.
Interesting choices... Its funny how each of us probably has a different visual in our heads. I kind of picture Pendergast as a "not quite so evil yet still intense" looking Paul Bettany from Davinci Code, Aaron Eckhart as more of a Smithback type, and Dakota Fanning as Constance Green. I have no idea who'd be Vinnie D'Agosta... maybe Anthony LaPaglia.

i think val kilmer with bleached blonde hair and his accent from Tombstone would work for Pendergast

I’m counting the days to can buy ‘Fever Dream’. I love the books written by Preston and Child; Pendergast is my favourite character.
In my account there’s a video with my cast for a movie:
Aloysius - Paul Bettany (I can’t imagine no one else playing him)
Diogenes - Damian Lewis.
D’Agosta - David Cubitt or Michael Madsen.
Smithback - Jude Law (that's him xD) or Cillian Murphy.
Margo Green - Gemma Arterton or Natalie Portman.
Nora Kelly - Marion Cotillard.
And the other characters xD

@audgeyp because the plot is so unrealistic, and you expect an better excuse of the murder by the zombie
also there is to less... well technical explenation in the beginning of the book
i mean, like those litle clues woud lead to the end
