European Pine Sawfly - University of Kentucky Entomology

I had some of these but with a red head, and black spots feeding on the top of my deodora cedar tree. i had just plant the tree in May of 11 and in Sept 11 they started on my tree with in a few days. How long does it take for them to hatch from larva and where did they come from? There are no other tree around that are effected by this from what I can tell and my tree stands by itself
