TigerRocket , patti smith is a joke when it comes to politics. can she express her opinion if she wants ? of course. point being, as a country we made our choice already and it wasn't patti smith.
I'm not sure what patti said that makes you think she would prefer bigotry, racism, and a non-democratic political process. Here in America, unlike many 3rd world countries, we don't exile people for expressing rhetoric. No matter how distasteful.
This is a very powerful speech by an amazing singer and speaker

Debratopia, learn some basic facts.
president bush won the election in both 2000 and 2004.
we the people voted him into office both times.
if you want to spend your whole life in denial of those FACTS, be my guest.

it's called democracy patti smith. he's in office because "We the People" put him there.
if you don't like democracy, patti smith, try some 3rd world bigoted and racist country where you would be much more comfortable....

I'm not sure I heard anything in what patti said that makes you think she would prefer bigotry, racism, or a non-democratic political process.
Personally, I don't think expressing rhetoric should ever be grounds for exile. Especially in a democracy.
