I was a proud member of the 822nd, Ranger qualified, served in Vietnam 1968.
'68 was a great year. First time I ever heard Jimi Hendrix. The song was All Along the Watchtower. Up to that point I had been a die-hard Bob Dylan fan. Boy did I change!
I'm going to moody afb in a couple weeks...and about the suicide issue..its very serious in the air force in basic your going to have a whole manditory class on suicideand why it important and also how u as a wingmen are responsible for fellow airman showing signs of suicidal thought
@mikeyj312 yeah its like they just threw it in there after this sort of "hero story" of that kid deploying and "...oh btw this guy killed himself" :/ not too well done.
The suicide part shouldn't have gone in there. The last thing they needed was something like that being seen by the families of the members that were deployed. But since it is a small town, I guess they can't do anything but highlight a tragedy. At least my homeboys that left with that unit came back safe
i highly agree they shouldnt have mentioned that i leave for air force bmt in 3 days i got security forces as my mos if u like u can check out my vlogs there pretty good and i like to preach the truth
@TripleNickel79 dude im in ramstein right now are u kidding me the job is easy as hell and on the weekends i can go anywhere in europe. how hard is it too just check IDs or look at a plane for 12 hours and give a good post briefing not hard at all bud ppl in the career field gotta quit whining and just do their job and earn their income
Well I'm glad you like it, I do need ppl like you to join so this career field won't be critically manned so I can cross train. I am assuming your not married with kids and have not been deployed three times in the last three years and had orders handed to you as soon as you got home, and will be missing yet another Holiday and Birthday without the family. Best of luck to you!
well bro i gotta give it to u then thats tough as shit i completely understand how its like to be away from home during the holidays and ur birthday.the security forces career field is not good on families u pretty much earned the right to wanna cross train but wat annoys me is not airman like u its airman that are in my position where there single they never been deployed but they just dont like the long hours and bitch about how their job sux. well anyways i wish the best for u and ur family
@Beholdendamage Hey Im assuming you are SF. Im in college now and should be graduating soon. I was actually a loadmaster whie in the AF and made tons of trips to Ramstein. Ether way how do SF officers have it there? Im probably reenlisting as an officer and Security Forces is something I always wanted to do. I know the enlisted part of it but not so much the "O" side. What do them guys do?
@usairman8806 well if u go in an LT life is gonna be a whole lot better ull probably be a flight commander and do some real cop shit instead of doing nothing all day trying to stay awake
