I just love Waters, period. He's a genious for me!
But I'm really pissed with him, he leaved PF in 85, and in almost 30 years he just recorded 3 solo albuns (that are amazing, 3 of them) and 1 Opera, fuck, I want to listen another album, this song is a proof he still can be fucking good, and yet he still doing Dark Side and The Wall :(
This song, more than most any other from Waters' solo work, screams for Gilmour on the electric guitar. Think how fantastic it would've been with his contributions. I don't feel it reached its potential in its current state. That said, it's a terrific song as is. I stumbled on this by accident and like so many others here I find myself wanting to listen to it over and over again.
Waters was a great lyricist but only fair in the vocal department. Water's voice waivers too much when he tries to belt a tune out. Unlike Brad Delp who was absolutely brilliant vocally.
@RickJLV ...yeah Boston vs Pink Floyd...that's like Submissive, yet popsy Corporate Rock vs. Rebellious, yet Legendary Corporate Rock. I'll take "Comfortably Numb" over "More Than A Feeling" any day of the week.
I don't really care about what other haters say about this song we all know it's really good you don't have to be a sore punk about it thats not at all as far as i know what song are even for.My personal opinion is that this an awesome song and people shouldn't be mean about because they are just jealous.
This song ties in with my life. I grew up in Seattle and longed for it when my family moved to California. I've since moved back. My future was my past. Alot of people also called me "Pink Floyd" and "Roger Waters wannabe" It's funny how this video touches on this theme.
lol this song sucks, all of you people who say think its brilliant are sorely mistaken. He did some awesome work with Pink Floyd yes and he even did fine on solo stuff. But this just sounds like a mash up of multiple different songs that he did with pink floyd even down to lyrical content sometimes. You people don't have to like something just cause someone who made good music at one point is still grasping at making new things.
@thirdechelon Hey, I'm 16 and a few years back this is one of the first songs that turned me on a musical path to Pink floyd, and later Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Who, The Beatles, etc. Roger Waters was and still is an amazing musician, don't be a hater.
@thirdechelon waters is writing reflectively, and that's y it seems like a 'mash-up,' but this in no way constitutes 'sucking.' there's raw, complex, thematic emotion explored throughout; time passing, distances between 'frequencies' widening inevitably, acceptance but the pain of such acceptance as can be felt in building crescendos. and what makes it most waters-esque is that there's more to explore in it; i can't fully decipher it all just yet. try reading it from a different perspective.
When I went to see 'The Last Mimzi' in the movie theater, I had no idea Roger had scored the theme for it. What a treat hearing his voice after years of no new material.

Gilmour is such a bastard unfortunatly he's a talented bastard who desperatly misses his friend. When Roger talks about a Pink Floyd concert being fun he means it cause we fans are missing alot more than our friend. Something we barely glimpsed at Live8.
This song blows me away!!! Best i heard from him in a long time. This is better than most of his solo material in my opinion. This is the Roger Waters we know and love. I love it when he write dark stuff like this.
@bassmanjoe Have you listened to Amused to Death? That entire album is far better than any album put out by Floyd/any Floyd member since The Final Cut
How has this song not had more views ? Without sounding like a sham, this is the type of music Floyd would be making these days if they were still together.
@trollfinger Absolutely agree..this song should AT LEAST be on a Waters' solo album, and not some forgettable movie soundtrack, though this isnt the first time Waters has written great songs that barely got noticed (When the Wind Blows & Music of the Body) But yes, if Pink Floyd were still making music, this would fit great..great lyrical references to earlier work, and the a very "Gilmour-style" guitar sound..its just has that Pink Floyd sound overall..great tune.
This song is new to me. When I read the tracktitle I thought: "huh, Roger goes The Doors?", but the song and text is very Roger, even with references to old PF texts (is that even english?).
AWESOME! Listened this album the whole day through and i thank my lucky stars that i found this full album for free download at DownloadMusic/./im ,remove the slashes .
waters is and always was floyd ,cos he was there with syd! gilmore is a great guitarist but thats all ,i love the way roger looks at the cam at the end? beat that dave, lol,
@fruitloopz4eva ya he is fantastic but I think he has MAJOR issues with letting go...I mean despite the fact that this song is FOR the Last Mimzy i think its relly ABOUT Syd Barret
Is that Steve Fucking Gadd on drums???? Man!!! You pretty much cna't get anyone better than that!!!!
I don't know about this "re-hashing old lyrics thing" PInk Floyd without rogers sucked because it lost his amazing lyrics, but has he run out of things to say?
I wouldn't say he's run out of things to say, it's just a device, that's all. The Beatles sang "she loves you ya, ya, ya," at the end of Hey Jude - same device. My humble opinion. Have a sweet day!
Nice song from the genius. But, we need a new album. But, good news folks....he is going to tour the greatest album of all time, The Wall in a year or so. That will rule.
Maybe you Gilmour nerds can convince fat-boy David Samson to go tour On An Island again....YEEEEEECH!!
roger is the poet of the new century....this song is great......sure he uses his own words a few times.....but all of his fans use his words in every day life....when i leave my friends i tell them "ill see you on the dark side of the moon".....it has more meaning than just being words in a song....way deeper and philosophical are the word in any pink floyd or roger waters songs.....go listen to any of their albums....listen to the words...and let yourself go with them.....youll thank me later
Look, this isn't a bad song. And who cares if he borrowed around 15 words, from 2 albums? It really makes no difference. And the kids who heard this wouldn't have gotten it, it's just there for the "diehard" fans. Just get over it. If you hate this song, before you came here, why did you come here?
danlett97 you are so lame if someone uses i love you alot you would say the same? is there any bodty out there is not even in the same meaning as it was in the wall and the dark side its not stealing from himself..dude you are just pathetic
That guitar solo sucked. Im sure that if that solo were played by gilmour, this song would be incredible floydian. play together again roger an dave!

What everyone has missed is that this song references Live8.
When he talks about the ghosts by his side and their love and pride he is talking about Pink Floyd members.
Likewise the make your choice say goodbye or say hello.
It's a message to Gilmour.
As is the making peace on the Dark Side of The Moon line.
I guess Gilmour heard it. It's a plea.

How has this song not had more views ? Without sounding like a sham, this is the type of music Floyd would be making these days if they were still together.
trollfinger 1 year ago
@trollfinger Absolutely agree..this song should AT LEAST be on a Waters' solo album, and not some forgettable movie soundtrack, though this isnt the first time Waters has written great songs that barely got noticed (When the Wind Blows & Music of the Body) But yes, if Pink Floyd were still making music, this would fit great..great lyrical references to earlier work, and the a very "Gilmour-style" guitar sound..its just has that Pink Floyd sound overall..great tune.

from which album is this track
vetnep1968 1 year ago
It's only available on the original soundtrack, and very limited as a single. Probably download too, But Roger hasn't done a studio album since 1992.

This song is new to me. When I read the tracktitle I thought: "huh, Roger goes The Doors?", but the song and text is very Roger, even with references to old PF texts (is that even english?).

I just read on the internetS that it is Steve Gadd!!
cromagmax 2 years ago
Is that Steve Fucking Gadd on drums???? Man!!! You pretty much cna't get anyone better than that!!!!
I don't know about this "re-hashing old lyrics thing" PInk Floyd without rogers sucked because it lost his amazing lyrics, but has he run out of things to say?
cromagmax 2 years ago
I wouldn't say he's run out of things to say, it's just a device, that's all. The Beatles sang "she loves you ya, ya, ya," at the end of Hey Jude - same device. My humble opinion. Have a sweet day!

Nice song from the genius. But, we need a new album. But, good news folks....he is going to tour the greatest album of all time, The Wall in a year or so. That will rule.
Maybe you Gilmour nerds can convince fat-boy David Samson to go tour On An Island again....YEEEEEECH!!
Bondsback2325 2 years ago
dude Dave did the EXACT shit on On An Island.older Floyd is represented in new Floyd allll the time.

roger is the poet of the new century....this song is great......sure he uses his own words a few times.....but all of his fans use his words in every day life....when i leave my friends i tell them "ill see you on the dark side of the moon".....it has more meaning than just being words in a song....way deeper and philosophical are the word in any pink floyd or roger waters songs.....go listen to any of their albums....listen to the words...and let yourself go with them.....youll thank me later
johnnahodil 2 years ago 2
Look, this isn't a bad song. And who cares if he borrowed around 15 words, from 2 albums? It really makes no difference. And the kids who heard this wouldn't have gotten it, it's just there for the "diehard" fans. Just get over it. If you hate this song, before you came here, why did you come here?
Lordmanic 2 years ago
danlett97 you are so lame if someone uses i love you alot you would say the same? is there any bodty out there is not even in the same meaning as it was in the wall and the dark side its not stealing from himself..dude you are just pathetic
