  • @MSNVirusRemoval Hi. the virus is definitely gone it really worked :)

  • @kkoolbeans1 Thanks for replying, I'm glad to hear your problem is fixed :)

  • Well, do not download from an untrusted source.

And, just use Microsoft Security Essentials.

    It does the job.

  • @OpenSourceCookieKid How do you define a trusted/untrusted source?

MSE doesn't always do the job, neither does any other virus scanner. There are new strains of MSN Virus coming out all the time, no one company can keep up.

  • @Macka007

It does in most cases, and it is continuously updated by a professional firm. And another thing is that Microsoft is behind the MSN service, they coded it themselves. Therefore it is only logical to use MSE, which is also maintained and created by Microsoft.

Definitions of Trusted and Untrusted is something personal, but since you asked MY definition of it, you'll get it. Firms with licenses, overall good rating on the web / other sources, and "what words goes around".

  • @OpenSourceCookieKid "It does in most cases" You'd be surprised what it misses - same goes for all products really.

"Microsoft is behind the MSN service, they coded it themselves" Sure, but what has that got to do with removing viruses? The viruses don't log on to the MSN network, nor do they infiltrate the MSN executable, in most cases they emulate copy paste functions in to the chat window. Microsoft isn't really better placed then any other AV vendor for removing them.

  • @OpenSourceCookieKid "Definitions of Trusted and Untrusted is something personal... Firms with licenses, overall good rating on the web / other sources, and "what words goes around". "

Good answer, however, define "licenses" - if you are talking code signing such as Verisign then anyone can get that, it's just a matter of forking our large sums of cash. No license is required to write or distribute software or even to run a business, so I'm not sure what you mean.

  • @Macka007

Corporate licenses, E-marks, Sites of trust.

  • I downloaded and did the scanning thing and it got to the very end but said could not complete scan because i wasnt an administator or something... what do i do then?

  • It doesn't work.

It stops working after "Scanning registry" or something like that.

  • ive removed it now but thank you so much for the help

  • Ok, np.

  • it keeps on crashing at the same point please help

  • What point is that?

What is the last line in the details window?

  • not Work;)

  • Can you be more specific?

    Did it crash?

    Was anything detected?
