@FalsoContactoFilms Because they are all listening to the english version of DBZ playing int here ears so they can be inspired to produce a crappy movie soundtrtack to the worst movie of all time
I was lucky enough to sit in on these sessions while working on this film. It was my first job and this still holds as one of the greatest moments I've had in this industry. Awesome guy and incredibly talented.
the composer doesn't care about the movie .. its just all about the quality and finesse of the final product - though making scores is also their job :)
@TheTruth006 That's great that you play piano. It's my instrument of choice too and if you want to get into musical theory you need to have it. But you really do not know what you are talking about. You do not learn to conduct in high school, other than the very basics. Yes, the orchestra might be able to play the piece without a conductor, assuming the sheet music had all articulations and dynamics notated. But it wouldn't sound this polished.
"But you really do not know what you are talking about."
No, I do. You learn how to conduct in high school, and they teach you all you really need to know, it's not a complicated thing to do, and I am not in it. I am in college and you, sir, are acting like an asshole. Tyler's conducting style has nothing to do with his family background. He can conduct like shit and have Jerry Goldsmith as his father, but as far as technique goes, he has none.
@TheTruth006 The fact that you think you learn all you need to know about conducting in high school is LAUGHABLE. I am not being an asshole. I assumed you were in high school because of your attitude. You sound overly confident in your knowledge of what you are saying despite repetitive misuse of terms a Theory of Music 101 student should have understand fluently.
@TheTruth006 Also, there are many different cues and techniques a conductor will have besides the time signature. His wand movement might be quick and choppy (usually indicated staccato or less often marcato) or he might his movement in the direction of whatever beat the piece is on to indicate a fermata, which means hold the note until he moves to the next beat. This happens at about 2:40 . There are many more articulations and dynamics than that as well.
@TheTruth006 HAHAHA I had a feeling you had no idea what you were talking about, but that confirms it. First off, tempo is NOT the same thing as time signature. Tempo is the pacing of the beats while the time signature is how they are organized, which is also called a piece's meter. This piece has 4 quarter notes per measure so it is 4/4 or standard time. I have never seen a piece in 3/6 but it is a possible time signature, it's just irrational.
3/6 was my mistake. I meant to write 6/8 for Tarantellas, but wrote the wrong number.
"HAHAHA I had a feeling you had no idea what you were talking about, but that confirms it."
You're an asshole. This stuff the teach you in high school. The teacher tells you get up in front of the orchestra and conduct and you do it. The players maybe be able to play the music without Tyler's flailing gestures, but he's doing it according to how the music feels to him.
@TheTruth006 One person's allegro could be 120 bpm and another person might play it at about 140 bpm. Also, the dynamics would be off, because not everyone plays them the same. Conducting takes a deep understanding of musical theory. It's good that you understand that a tarantella is a 6/8 time signature, but do you know why? And do you know why 3/6 is irrational? This stuff actually is pretty basic and to someone of Brian Tyler's talent it is second nature.
I wrote it wrong, and yes I know why it's wrong, but now you are acting like a pompous ass. Tyler wouldn't be able to tell if someone is going to fast with his kind of wide sweeping gestures. It's not dancing and it's not jazzercise. Brian Tyler doesn't do much of the work either. His orchestrator's do most of the notations. Tyler only needs to show up. That's why Tom Cruise could show up at the MI:III scoring sessions and pick it up.
@TheTruth006 Brian Tyler doesn't do much of the work either. His orchestrator's do most of the notations. Tyler only needs to show up.
This is hilarious. Tyler writes the the parts for every instrument. He may get significant input from his orchestrators but in the end he is solely responsible for the creative direction of his music. There is nothing wrong with his technique. Many conductors are very expressive. Ever seen Karajan? Some untrained people thought he was flailing wildy
@TheTruth006 I'm guessing you are in high school, right? Well, Tyler is only 38 and he's been conducting longer than you have been alive. He is a musical prodigy and comes from a family and conductors. His grandfather is a legend in Hollywood. He knows how to conduct and he does it very well. Oh , and Alan Silvestri is awesome
"He knows how to conduct and he does it very well."
I'm sorry, but I disagree, Brian Tyler maybe a "prodigy." Which is debatable considering the repetitive nature of his music in recent years. But his conducting style is all over the place whereas Silvestri directs the tempo and timbre. Tyler is turning all over the place making wide gestures that are insane. And the quality of his music is due to the 5 or 6 orchestrator's on each project whereas David Arnold has 1 reliable person.
@TheTruth006 Yet again, you are being highly critical of a highly respected conductor while also proving you don't understand what you are talking about. A conductor does not direct the timbre of the orchestra. Timbre is determined by what instruments are in the ensemble, and that is up to the composer who may also conduct but it is determined before the performance. And there is no doubt that Tyler is a prodigy. He was conducting concertos in europe when he was 15.
you guys should check out bangkok dangerous... he was also the film composer for that movie...and of course his talents were wasted on that movie D= people that hire Brian seriously needs to take him seriously.......seriously...

But this FINAL BATTLE theme is so epic. Love the -- are those tribal drums? -- as Goku and Piccolo are about to clash. Too bad the fight wasn't that long; it was one of the few Dragonball-esque moments the movie badly needed.

Epic sound. The best made for Brian, because he loves Dragon Ball. He said that when was scoring and producing

I appreciate music. Never really complain about movie scores. A shame the movie sucked chocolate salty balls.
