He got hauled away for not cooperating, and creating a public disturbance with his fake racism bs, just like anyone else of any other race would have been. It is another case of "racism" being exploited just like the DUke lacrosse case. If anything you or the other fellow (sc0) were actually true, obama would be CONDEMNING them, not inviting him over for a beer. :)

"Not cooperating". So if you're in your own home, doing NOTHING wrong, and hauled off even after you show your ID, for yelling at a cop?!!! That is called Tyranny and totalitarianism. The cops are not in control, WE THE TAXPAYERS who pay their salaries are. You should not have to show your ID in your own home. In a car, that is different, but your home is your castle, in America, and you need a warrant to even ENTER a man's home. I hope the cops get sued, and it becomes a landmark case.

That is not what happened, and you know it. Gates was at fault, he should have cooperated, and if he had, he would not have been hauled away. I pay cops to protect my property, and would want them to do the SAME THING if I were in gates position, only instead of screaming at them and disobeying their requests to show ID, i would have complied, thanked them, and they would be on their way... and I would be drinking a beer in my living room instead of getting out of jail. ;)

No freaking way. Maybe in the old Soviet Union, but in USA we have the constitution, the bill of rights, and the cops are paid by professor Gates' Taxes. He does not pay to be harrased by cops in his own home. There are good cops, who save lives everyday, but these cops were way out of line. I look forward to the false arrest lawsuit. That will have a chilling effect .

I read the incident report, and I am as outraged as professor Gates is. Cops will think twice about pulling over a "DWB", and rousting a man in his own home, without checking with the person who phoned in the report. A man's home is his castle, and there are such things as laws, human-rights, and due-process. Let the cops get a WARRANT.

You need a warrant to search his house and such. They were simply investigating a possible crime that was reported.
Anyway, no convincing you, this case is going nowhere, just like the fake hoax racism case in duke lacrosse which ended up in the prosecutor being disbarred.
So sick of this sort of thing. I remember rev al slamming the duke lacrosse team too... we all saw where that led.
Fake racism aint gonna cut it in furthering the cause, and it shouldnt, thank goodness.

Beamshipcaptain: The cops did not randomly go to Gates house to pick on an old black man. The cops were sent there to investigate a complaint at that house. If you being the resident do not listen to the cops and tell them to go f**K off, then they have a right to come in and investigate what the problem is. It also depends on the type off call, they are all different.

Hey, those foreclosures are a result of people borrowing money and not paying it off right away.
My father and Grandfather both did what they did because my family has a very strong desire to own property. Plus, we are too cheap to screw around with 20 year mortgages. I mean, seriously, who wants to pay twice as much for a house to risk losing it all because the factory closes?
Pay it off as fast as you can, then it is smooth sailing for the rest of your life.
