I'm not in the least bit denying that individual marines are extremely brave and dedicated individuals who honestly and truly believe in what they are doing or that they do perform an important and vital role in the modern world. For that they have my respect and gratitude. BUT if you actually listen to the lyrics of this song not just the melody you have to admit it does sound rather like the kind of overtly nationalistic, 19th century jingoism that I would hope we have left behind in the 21st.
