I can understand needing practice to be good at piloting vehicles, but how can I get any practice if every time I get in a vehicle, I get instantly blown up by someone who has better vehicle abilities? Seriously, I try flying a jet and get locked on the second I take off, and don't have any flares to defend myself with. I very much dislike the BF3 menu design. Not being able to customize loadouts or quit in-between matches is a pain. Also M16 & M4, as a starting gun, isnt newbie friendly. I had a hard time taking down opponents. Once I unlocked M416 & Famas, things went a lot better.
Otherwise, the rest of the game is a blast. Maps r kinda big but thats because console can only hold 12 v 12 unlike PC.
And cod has never copied shit the took a couple of things from halo and other games like theater mode they got that from halo and also cod has a shit campaign and the exact same gameplay every single game
Amish, I think you are making this "connection" issue to much of a bit thing. You can connect fine. But at around 30 min or so of playing continuously on the same map, you lose connection. But by that time, you have gotten all the stuff you need. Donor doesn't matter as long as you have gotten what you need
BF3 console is flawed even in multiplayer. Most people comment on three things when saying it is a great game. 1, amazing graphics, 2. refined realistic gameplay 3. something new vs cod. the maps are too big? wow, aome of the battlefield 1942 maps were about 4 to 5 times as big as these maps. altough, the shear amount of tanks,planes,jeeps, and other thing needed big maps. i remember gazala being so big if you didnt have a tank, jeep, or plane it would take 2 minutes just to get across the map. and i loved it the most out of any battlefield :) just personal preferance though...

Ya, this game has great graphix, but that's all it has; good graphix! It seems like they thought too much about the graphix and nothing else. My that I mean they didn't care about new ideas. They focused more on the graphix instead of everything else and that caused them to take from Cod. It's like an assignment that requires drawing a picture and writing an essay on it. BF3 drew an incredible picture, but failed the essay. And the essay is what most people care about. I'm gonna stick with MW3!

In my truly honest opinion, this game fucking sucks. I expected BF3 to be the best war FPS ever. I thought it would kick the asses of its predecessors AND the CoD games. But it turned out to be downright horrible. The campaign is unbelievably bad, the co-op even worse, and the multiplayer isn't anything new and awesome. Instead, they took BC2 and added some CoD stuff and connection issues.
I've bought many games this year, and BF3 is the only one I regret. I have zero temptation to play it...
the only difference I can see in black ops and bf3 story is that in bf3, Sgt. blackburn was comfy while interrogated. in black ops Alex Mason was electrocuted, beaten up and has major migraine issues while interrogated
The vehicles are designed to be a simulation. In Battlefield Bad Company 2 the helicopters were incredibly easy to fly, and everybody dove in them as soon as they spawned. Now a skilled player has the oppurtunity to completely destroy the other team. I honestly have no complaints for vehicle controls. The only negative I agree with is the pre-game lobby restrictions. And if you honsetly believe battlefield is just a good game and that MW3 is a great one, you should probably wake up.

I'm a COD fan but the general tone of this review does seem pretty biased towards COD. Reviews should be primarily based on what the game is now, not what came before it. I dont think Amish played the multiplayer enough to get into the feel of it and was just looking for things that were COD-like.
theres not any less destructible environments than BFBC2. its MORE realistic so that a grenade cant explode an entire wall. use rpgs and shit and you'll see theres a LOT of destruction

I actually think BF3's multiplayer is better than MW3's...that being said, I decided to get MW3 over BF3 because unlike most people I actually do spend a significant amount of time on the solo content.
Feel free to stand by your opinion, but let me just make a case for BF3's multiplayer here. For one thing, if you keep disconnecting, maybe your NAT type is not open? It used to happen to me, but I changed it and now I never d/c. so that may be your problem, not the game's. Second, the ground vehicle controls are fine, and I feel that the helicopter and jet controls have a steep learning curve so it requires a certain degree of skill, since they can be rather game-changing if used properly.
Completely agree with this, the only things that I would add are the jumping over things animation fails so much in multi player and the horrific spawning in team deathmatch, i don't know about the other game modes but TDM makes me sad.

Heres my reasons for not liking BF3
1. I play on the PC, so i VERY pissed when i had to install origin just to play and i had to re-add my friends
2.Sometimes games move VERY slowly even with 20+ players
I disagree on the "if it wasn't fun alone, it won't be with a friend." Playing with a friend, from my experience, usually makes it better. Even if you're doing badly.
I love this game and I agree with most of what you say, but to be fair, DICE wanted an online only game and EA more or less forced them to put in a campaign. Thus why it's kinda bleh. Also, Battlefield has been around since 2002, which would make Call of Duty the thief in this case. I'm not a fanboy, I just wish Call of Duty would go back to the good old days of run n' gun fun with little worry about camping and killstreaks.

When EA said they were competing with IW they did not mean in the same way that treyarch and IW do and make the best CoD, It was still going to be a different game. The battlefield series has been around longer than CoD 4 so to say they stole ideas from it is wrong. I agree with most of your points, I just feel you failed to mention good ones: you play in a squad; the sound; the animations; a suppression system; destructible terrain; vehicle combat; can change classes in game, dedicated servers.
I am a Battlefield fan boy and I will be the first to defend Battlefield3 and at first I found amish trash talking the game. But he is right on MOST parts. You dont play Battlefield with a COD mindset. Battlefield's story mode IS lacking but the co-op is more or less for a more tactical feel of Battlefield3's storyline. And Battlefield's MP is more or less for teamwork than a run-and-gun style . but other than that, you are right! And I also hate the vehicle controls. BRING BACK BC2 CONTROLS!!!

You should have added that all multiplayer issues exist exclusively in console versions. PC version supports larger number of players, which elliminates "too large" map problem, and controls on PC is easy and intuitive. And almost no connection issues whatsoever.

Nice review as expected. But regarding the vehicle controls, is it really a bad thing that they have such a high lurning curve? To me it seems like it'll reduce campers, and last Bad Company game was the same, somewhat.

the maps are too big? wow, aome of the battlefield 1942 maps were about 4 to 5 times as big as these maps. altough, the shear amount of tanks,planes,jeeps, and other thing needed big maps. i remember gazala being so big if you didnt have a tank, jeep, or plane it would take 2 minutes just to get across the map. and i loved it the most out of any battlefield :) just personal preferance though...

omfg, co op was fun! im pretty sure MW2 didn't invent 2 player co op. The campaign was pretty shit, but it was more emotional than cod, were it has you masacering hundreds, then expecting you to feel sad when some guy on your side dies. Also, you forgot about the great voice acting in the campaign, the charachters sound like they're having an actual conversation, and not everything is so serious, unlike call of duty where a serious tone is set in a completely non serious game. you were biased

Ya, this game has great graphix, but that's all it has; good graphix! It seems like they thought too much about the graphix and nothing else. My that I mean they didn't care about new ideas. They focused more on the graphix instead of everything else and that caused them to take from Cod. It's like an assignment that requires drawing a picture and writing an essay on it. BF3 drew an incredible picture, but failed the essay. And the essay is what most people care about. I'm gonna stick with MW3!

In my truly honest opinion, this game fucking sucks. I expected BF3 to be the best war FPS ever. I thought it would kick the asses of its predecessors AND the CoD games. But it turned out to be downright horrible. The campaign is unbelievably bad, the co-op even worse, and the multiplayer isn't anything new and awesome. Instead, they took BC2 and added some CoD stuff and connection issues.
I've bought many games this year, and BF3 is the only one I regret. I have zero temptation to play it...

The vehicles are designed to be a simulation. In Battlefield Bad Company 2 the helicopters were incredibly easy to fly, and everybody dove in them as soon as they spawned. Now a skilled player has the oppurtunity to completely destroy the other team. I honestly have no complaints for vehicle controls. The only negative I agree with is the pre-game lobby restrictions. And if you honsetly believe battlefield is just a good game and that MW3 is a great one, you should probably wake up.

I'm a COD fan but the general tone of this review does seem pretty biased towards COD. Reviews should be primarily based on what the game is now, not what came before it. I dont think Amish played the multiplayer enough to get into the feel of it and was just looking for things that were COD-like.

Feel free to stand by your opinion, but let me just make a case for BF3's multiplayer here. For one thing, if you keep disconnecting, maybe your NAT type is not open? It used to happen to me, but I changed it and now I never d/c. so that may be your problem, not the game's. Second, the ground vehicle controls are fine, and I feel that the helicopter and jet controls have a steep learning curve so it requires a certain degree of skill, since they can be rather game-changing if used properly.

A movie lover such as yourself should know that flashbacks are something used to further a story and that many radical groups in the real Middle East are in control of WMDs. I love this game and I agree with most of what you say, but to be fair, DICE wanted an online only game and EA more or less forced them to put in a campaign. Thus why it's kinda bleh. Also, Battlefield has been around since 2002, which would make Call of Duty the thief in this case. I'm not a fanboy, I just wish Call of Duty would go back to the good old days of run n' gun fun with little worry about camping and killstreaks.

When EA said they were competing with IW they did not mean in the same way that treyarch and IW do and make the best CoD, It was still going to be a different game. The battlefield series has been around longer than CoD 4 so to say they stole ideas from it is wrong. I agree with most of your points, I just feel you failed to mention good ones: you play in a squad; the sound; the animations; a suppression system; destructible terrain; vehicle combat; can change classes in game, dedicated servers.

I am a Battlefield fan boy and I will be the first to defend Battlefield3 and at first I found amish trash talking the game. But he is right on MOST parts. You dont play Battlefield with a COD mindset. Battlefield's story mode IS lacking but the co-op is more or less for a more tactical feel of Battlefield3's storyline. And Battlefield's MP is more or less for teamwork than a run-and-gun style . but other than that, you are right! And I also hate the vehicle controls. BRING BACK BC2 CONTROLS!!!

You should have added that all multiplayer issues exist exclusively in console versions. PC version supports larger number of players, which elliminates "too large" map problem, and controls on PC is easy and intuitive. And almost no connection issues whatsoever.
