I liked the original so much better! i wonder if his editor did this or he kept tempering with it. This one gave too many explanations and diluted the essence of the characters. Either way, a really great book!
i got paper towns for christmas and decided to read it before the fault in our stars shipped. i read paper towns in 13 days because i couldn't stop reading and now i will have the fault in our stars to entertain my thoughts as i try to imagine the characters more complexly.

This is probably my favourite book of all time. And that's saying something because I have about ten billion NEARLY favourite books of all time that didn't make the cut.
How should I get my library to get even one John Green book? The shelves are full of these "OMG-there-is-the-most-popular-guy-and-he-likes-me-but-I-don't-get-it-and-I'm-totally-an-idiot-and-gorgeous" books yet there are barely any Harry Potter books, no John Green, no Lord of the Rings and basically just no good books. Can you, fellow nerdfighters, please help? Should I write a letter? Should I make a complaint/request?
(I had no idea where else to ask awesome people to help.. :/)
Buying this book Wednesday. Just bought and finished An Abundance of Katharine's and Looking for Alaska last week (I've never been much of a reader but the upcoming release of TFIOS gave me this weird rush to read everything else John has published. Also, I realized I'm going to be signing up for a Writing for Publication course in the fall and have read shockingly few novels not about wizards, vampires, or the religious coverups).
Id like to read this when I'm older. Language not too complicated but seems a bit disturbing. Does anyone know if it really is for a 13 year old naive girl? I like comedy and kung fu panda mostly....
@Music4ever248 I read it when I was 13. Well, like 13 and 11 months but same thing. If you're not too immature, it should be fine. But that might just be me. It has some really powerful themes and a few inappropriate things for people of a certain age. But it should be fine.
it's funny how the prologue didn't change in large obvious ways, but the changes are noticeable nonetheless. i really need this book, but i kind of wish that i hadn't heard the previous revision of the prologue because... with some descriptions and phrasing... i kind of liked it better ;=/
I love John Green's voice when he's reading. It relaxes me; I've taken to listening to this video if I need relaxing, and I'll just close my eyes, lean my head on the table, and listen.
I'm a pre-service English teacher, and as I create a unit based on the concept "Imagining People Complexly" (with Paper Towns as the central text, of course), I'm realizing how awesome it will be for my students to hear the prologue read aloud by the author himself. Thanks for doing what you do and being as awesome as you are, John. It's seriously inspiring.
I just grabbed my copy of Paper Towns and read along with John. I could do this with the whole book and it would be amazing. Two words, John: audio books.
I finished this book today, and at the very end, after the line "I can see her almost perfectly in this cracked darkness," someone had written in pen "...As I see Carli. And with that, I closed the book, cried for my flaws, and planned my apology." And I just thought you might enjoy hearing that your book saved someone's relationship.
Does Dr. Jefferson Jefferson have anything to do woth Dr. Phillips? And do the streets in Jefferson Park have anything to do with Winter park or Audobon Park called Chelsea?
@MsHarryFreakinPotter and @219kenzie i also got a note today when i finished this masterpiece but there was no name just 'a fellow Nerdfighter' at first i was scared but after reading the comments i seem to be not alone in this predicament.
i bought this book and read it in a DAY. half of it on the train, laughing rather loudly to myself and not caring at all that other people were staring. i bet they just wanted a look at the cover to get the book for themselves x)
I have the book and have read it several times in the past however long it has been out, but sometimes I still come back to listen to John read the prologue.
Theres something about writers reading their own words that gives those words the most beautiful rhythm. It's as natural as hearing the thoughts in your own head. SO freaking good John, I'm going to buy this after I'm done reading my current book. :)
I absolutely Love this book! I can relate so well to It, and your Books feel like its something that Could actually happen to anyone! You capture so well the thoughts and emotions That course through the mind of a teenager! You are my Favorite author! and your stories are always leading to something I Would expect but turns out completely different, yet I Somehow feel as if it Was unavoidable, just like Real life! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have just fineshed paper towns. it is amazing :) . like really amazing. everyone should read this. i mean wow. John Green. I mean french the llama he is a great author. BTW favorite line in the whole book. In the chapter in Becca's basement. When Ben says to her "you bleed suck". love it lol. Second favourite line "IM NOT BEING MODEST I JUST DIDN'T WANT TO DIE". absolutely brillient book .
Why is my version so different from this? It's making me sad.

You know where he says "I'd be crazy!"? In the book, it says "Crazier than a shithouse rat". He was censoring it.
There are some really adult themes in there. They're funny, but it's called a young adult novel for a reason.
