@SnafuenFrance Thank you! Well, long story short, I was just trying different effects and transitions with Cyberlink Powerdirector, trying to find things that would go well with the idea.
If I were a real jerk, I'd respond with a video full of Bela Lugosi clips from Ed Wood movies. Thankfully, though, I appreciate the goth subculture too much to do that.
@FreeTinfoilHat ...and I'd respond by saying "PULL THE STRING!...PULL THE STRING!" in the Lugosi accent.
...or maybe a Bela Lebowski accent...man...because what's with the garlic...y'know uh...because it will not stand- this aggression will not stand, man. That Van Helsing, he's a real reactionary...
@FreeTinfoilHat Don't you mean Ed Wood movie? In the singular, not plural? And if you were to do as you threaten, using only clips of his appearance in it you could scarcely expect to fill a whole video.... That is the real reason your threat will forever remain an idle one.
I was 9 when this track came out, so it makes me ancient and wise enough to say that you made a hell of a job with this and Bauhaus themselves would be proud to see their baby accompanied with such excellent video mastering!! I bow my head to thee!!
@residualbill Do you have any more of Bauhaus? I only have about 5 or 6 months left. Im trying to make a compilation to listen to when i cant use my hands anymore. Also sisters of mercy?
Amazing. I listen to this while i work on unloading trucks and pulling pallets at Wal-mart. Great song. A pox on all who think this is a terrible song. Great pairing of this song with the video. Undeniable classics
Genius, you just made Halloween even better for me. I'm 53 and nothing gets played before this song every year on All Hallows Eve. Your video is mesmerizing. Thank You
How have I missed this before??? This is FANTASTIC!!! Excellent work! I love Bauhaus and this is one of my favourite songs so I really appreciate what you've done! The editing and effects are incredible!
Yes excellent work...one of the seminal tracks of the eighties and you have done it proud. The only clubs that played this track in Sydney in the early eighties were the Berlin and Stranded. Wigman
It may have been released in 1979, but it was a hit in the nightclub scene in Australia around 1983-4. May have been when they released the 12" single, will have to check, but I never heard it played anywhere before that and I used to go clubbing 3-4 times per week.
@AlfieNoakesOhHo I have to say that over here in Detroit, Michigan, USA we were hearing it at the clubs around the same time, 1982-'83. It was played mainly in the Punk and New Music clubs, not the mainstream dance clubs. I absolutely loved this song and loved to dance to it. In fact, even though I am now 49 I still love to listen to this song. It never grow old and is timeless.
I especially liked the visual theme throughout that matched the "white on white translucent black capes" of the song, a critical element to the atmosphere of the soundscape. Admired the way black/white battle mirrored good/evil, carried thru in every part right to the ending sunrise. This video is a triumph worthy of the song, and should be used in film appreciation classes to teach film students. Technically this method helped masked the flaws in the original footage. A masterwork.
This track was first written in 1978 and I saw Bauhaus first perform it live at Nene College (December 1978) were they set up their equipment in a hall wereThe Pretenders were playing later that night.
About 20 of us watched the gig that night and got to know the band before they buggered off to London and fame and fortune !
Great video really captures the atmosphere of the song.
I hate the war going on between Peter Murphy fans and Rozz Wiliams' fans everyone needs to stop and realize no one created "goth" it was a beautiful scene and is dead now so just let it go
Perhaps the best appropriated video I have ever seen on YT. I am a video professional and I would be proud to have my name on this work. Nicely done. Nicely done!
Wow! Very well done! Love the effects filters on the old movies! You pay homage in the most creative new way I have seen yet. Very ORIGINAL!!! Fascinating to watch! This is an art piece in my opinion. I could loop it all day.
@motopilote Thanks a lot!! Really! I never got to see them back in their 'heyday', but I saw them about ten years ago, opening for Nine Inch Nails. Really cool show.
Very nice use of video editing to match the mood of the music - I saw Bauhaus perform this live in a dark basement venue in Manchester in the early 80s - great times!
