There is one big thing that happened here in Portugal that is almost unique.
We did a revolution in 1974 called "25 de Abril, a revolução dos cravos" (25th of april, the carnation revolution). In that revolution we knocked down the communist system and installled democracy. The great thing is that we did it without killing anyone. No one was killed and we do feel proud to do such thing. How many countries knocked down communist systems as peacefull as we did it?

Im a proud portuguese and i only have this to say, the greatness of Portugal and its empire and adventures over the centuries its immense, while Finland is just a cold and boring country located in Europe that doesnt remember when they were starving and the country that they now criticize helped them, enough said, i think this gets you a image of their morality.

At the interest rate of 6 %, Portugal would need to spend some 11 % of its state budget on interests. This will unlikely happen. There are two things going on in Portugal, if my analysis is correct: firstly the Portuguese economy has not been able to renew itself and innovate, so the removal of blue-collar work to Asia has stripped Portugal. As this was not appreciated in the political level, the Portuguese indebtedness has risen highly. It is quite likely that Portugal will not pay back all of its loans. In history, countries of public debt beyond 90 % of GDP have seldom survived without restructuring.

I still think message of video failed. It says: "We are a great country! We built an empire! We are number one!" Very good. But, why do you need money then, if you are so great and glorious? I can't see the connection. If you had showed starving children etc, it had looked more justified.
Maybe today Greece should make similar video :)
On the other hand, Ireland has done everything it was asked, and it was rewarded: credit class collapsed! Someone is profiting big time out of all this.

@naminaoko You're right. It did fail and for many for reasons. But the main one is because almost everyone got the wrong msg, like you and me (at first) did.
This wasn't meant to ask for money, but only to respond to some offensive and false propaganda by the True Finns - That we were lazy, didn't want other countries to help us, that we didn't deserve to be helped, to be in EU, etc, It was only meant to remind them that we deserved some credit and didn't deserve to treated like that.

So "we" decided to show them who we are and what we did over the centuries, including the volunteer campaign that we did on 1940 to help the Finns that were in trouble, just like we are right now...
