The other day I came across Electric Sheep project and I thought it was a great idea. So know I have downloaded the screen saver and I sure do like all the different & wonderful colors and shapes it makes while it is running! It sure isn't like the SETI online project but still I like it a lot and like to watch as I fall asleep with soft classical music in the background. Later folks.

Cool thing. Nice fractal animation. Probably you could alsou added some sound. I had made something like this, just with proper fractal figures (sierpinsky triangles, trees, fractal dragon and cross).

Im trying to get this to work on my Ubuntu 10.04, at the moment when it comes up it's just a black screen. But the preview shows it and I have quite a few sample sheep. Shame...

No, the video was made in about 5 minutes using the sheep that were in my cache. I didn't change or edit any of them, except to occasionally add a frame transition to make it all flow together.

Whatever it is you're seeing, I don't see it. Whatever it is, it is an anomaly in the sheep itself.

Also, you should all know this isn't a creative work of mine. Electric Sheep, the screensaver, creates a network of sleeping computers that creates the abstract animations.

All I did was string a bunch of my favorites together. I've thought about doing another for a while, with some music, but I'm not sure what would go with it and not sound cheesy.

I thought yhat you did it because in my research about this, the shepherd (the person who can control these) can make their own by scripting and using certain keys.

I wouldn't be surprised if Square Enix or other game companies got their magic animations from this.

Yep, you CAN create your own sheep, but it involves using another program to create a fractal flame, and it's more like coming up with a number or equation that your computer uses to create the image, much the same way it does with Electric Sheep.

Just using the Electric Sheep program, you can only vote for sheep you like, in the hopes that they will continue to stay in the flock and breed with other sheep.

Actual image manipulation is pretty much impossible.

So no secret anti-Semitism here.

To the person who asked how to get them to transition smoothly. Mine weren't smooth at all either at first. Jumping from one to the other. But after some time they begin to flow rather nicely. Just takes patience. Wonderful screen saver!
