Volcano The Blast Coaster at Kings Dominion

@beejay27 That's due to its low capacity. There's only two seats per row and there's no mid course brake run (MCBR). Having no MCBR limits the coaster to just two trains on the track at the same time.

this rides line is waaaaay too long for it to be a little over 1min long. I only ride it as soon as it opens but last year my wife and i got on it at night and there is nothing like it.Also try the Grizzly at night.

I've always been fascinated by this ride, but have yet to ride it. Two questions:

Is it very headbangy?

Do you know if it has ever rolled back?

@MrMorganOBrien No, It's actually quite smooth. As for it rolling back, the only times I've heard it roll back was during the summer of 2010 and that was only a couple of times.

Kings Dominion has a very cool looking haunted ride, Boo Blasters? I think. I love dark rides, and walk through haunts. Dorney Park, KD, etc. have the Haunt event with several walk through haunts. I live 2 miles west of Dorney Park so I'll go to their haunt event.

Ok so I'm a wimp. I know a few other people that won't ride extreme coasters. I won't ride anything that goes upside down. One time I got sick on a flat ride, Monster I believe. It has the arms that go up and down while going in a circle. KD and Dorney Park removed a bunch of slow family rides in the 90's, although Dorney Park added a few like a second train ride, a car ride, a river rapids ride, antique carousel, and Camp/Planet Snoopy rides. I rode the old Smurf Mountain ride and Haunted River here back in July 1993. My question is why did they replace slow family rides with a fast extreme upside down coaster? I was back at KD in 1997 when the Volcano was under construction, and the former rides in the mountain shut down. I would never ride a coaster like this, I can't stand rides that go upside down or very fast or most coasters. I prefer slow family rides like trains, carousels, ferris wheels, haunted rides, etc.

LOL. When the ride is launched, me and my friends were sitting near the dominator. We saw a ring of smoke,floating in the air and it scared us outta out pants, because we though it was a ufo. But when we were standing next to the volcano, we saw it was just that.

@TallSlimShady97 Yes they do. They shoot a flame out the top of the mountain before each coaster train is launched. You can even see it at the beginning of this video when I show the Volcano sign with the mountain in the background.

And no they don't use fire... in fact all the insides of the volcano look nothing like a volcano... its just dark w/red support beams everywhere...

I got on it the last time I was there... the 1st time was great and I loved it... the second time however was when it didn't make it all the way up the hill and it rolled back. Was stuck on it as we backed into the staytion... there was one guy that told me to "just sit tight" hehe... I still like it though

i used to be sooooo scared of this ride. i would never ride it. then last year i finally convinced myself to ride it. I LOVED IT. its so scary going through the launch zone cuz u think to urself when will it launch when will it launch i love this ride they use fire at the top all the time im going to the park in like 4 days so im soo gonna ride this wen i get there i can't wait :)

On days when it's not too windy, they actually blow fire out the top of the mountain.

@Epicosity101 I was lucky to get the flame blast at the beginning of the video, unfortunately there was a problem which precluded the blast going off for the next couple of days. I was hoping to get one of it at night, but it just wasn't in the cards for me on that trip.

@princessrock55 I don't know if you've actually ridden it before but it's really a fun ride and quite fast. I believe the top speed is 60mph. I've been told it's not uncommon to have a hour and a half too two hours for this ride

@woodencoasterfan If you don't get to the park early and get there when the ride first opens it's guaranteed you will wait at least an hour in line.. The line isn't the worst though, when you get closer to the front it's inside the volcano and it's really warm.. But the wait and heat are worth it.

@woodencoasterfan I love this coaster. Lots of fun.  Not long enough of a ride for the wait (at times). I've been on days and walked straight through and rode over again and been on other days and waiting 2 hours to ride.

Regardless of the crowd, I WON'T leave KD without riding this... it's that fun.
