    btw have you tried rotating the bound until it's aligned to the X/Y/Z axes and then aligning the Enterprise again?

  • @StelarCF Haha AUSSIE FTW!! ;P I haven't fiddled with blender in a while since I've moved back to a 64bit version of Windows 7. I do intend to rebuild soon though (I know, so much procrastination). I'll give this idea a shot when I do. Thanks for the tip ;)

  • Have you tried...(2.49)

    *select Enterprise and SHIFT-S CURSOR -> SELECTION

    *SPACE add a CUBE (scale it so that it is bigger than Enterprise)

    *select Enterprise then select Cube (in that order)

    *ALT-J to Join meshes

    *check bounds - delete cube faces in edit mode.

  • i'd say you make the movement local for the ship and for the shield and photons as well

  • Hey everyone. I have just moved to Ubuntu Lucid Lynx and am about to commence the rebuild. I have just made a Camero and to my surprise I ran into the same problem again! I am very much aware of the object centering system and already made sure that they are centered in the same position by centering the cursor to the center of one object, switching to edit mode of the other object and centering to cursor. Still no luck, it does the EXACT same thing in game :S

  • with the shield problem try going into edit mode and put the cursor in the direct centre of the mesh, then when it is rotated it will be aligned :P

  • you need to press CTRL+A, then select Scale to ObData

  • That was an amazing model. I loved it.

    And I thought it was great that you set up weaps and shields in the game engine.

    Could you msg me and tell me how to set up weapons in the game engine. I'm creating starships for game engine too. It would solve a LOT of problems for me...

    Anyhow, yeah, I'd have to agree with a few other posters. I think the origin point of the shields is a little different from the model.

    However, the whole thing looks great! Subbed friended.

  • i think i know the problem, i know uve lost it but i might as well say it.

    the shields mesh has like an anchor point, so in object mode it will rotate on that point, it has to be in the same spot exactly to the main mesh]

    that is amazing modelling, im doing a Star Trek XI version of the constellation class, message me and ill send links to the images

  • Hey everyone. I lost this entire game and everything else I made in blender in a bad backup when I upgraded to windows 7 :( I would like to state that for any wondering; blender 2.49 runs flawlessly in windows 7 and in many ways faster for me as windows 7 is far more efficient than vista overall.

    I will hope to remodel this again but better this time and do it properly from the start using python wherever possible as I am allot more knowledged in its workings now :) I'll be sure to post it

  • Add an empty and rotate the empty insead of the ship and parent everything to that. it worked for me

  • Group them - I do that with Maya - Hope it works the same.

  • How do you make the game backround black like that?

  • It's quite simple really. Here's how:

    1. Go to the shading tab (F5)

    2. Click on the 'world buttons' tab (it should be the one on the far right end)

    3. In this section you can change the colour of the background for the game engine (and for ray tracing). The first coloured square that is blue by default is the one that will change the colour.

    Hope this helped :)

    I remember it was simple questions like this that took me the longest to figure out.

  • I don't know of any GOOD ones, I just use Unregistered Hypercam 2 for my videos and it works, good enough, as does it in this video.

  • I hate when that happens. I don't know how to fix it, but I like the NCC-1701-A best, but that's a good model.

  • if the lasers are shooting in only one way. If its a edit ogject and your adding it go to the linV on it and press the L. I had the same problem in my shooter. if ya need anything else message me.

  • No I'm not that silly. I used a bone action for the shooting (easiest way to get a 'beam' rather than a 'projectile') just a simply 2 frame action.

  • move the child to the center of the parent. i had this exact problem before. if it doesnt work, i may come back with an answer after i check again!

  • That's what I did. That's how come I can't fix it. The Enterprise model is still doing its own thing and the phasers and photon emptys aren't following it exactly even tho they are parented.
