  • I own a Bogner Alchemist 2 x12 and as far as I can tell it's one of the most amazing amplifier I have ever come across.

Really nice clean sound. Almost like Fender.

Really nice and creamy sustain distortion.

A downside of this amp is the noice coming out when you're on distortion mode.

  • @oggerocker You could just buy a really cheap noise gate pedal, or use the footswitch to switch back to clean when not using the mercury channel :)

  • really fender clean sound! amazing! and for that price... what alchemist is this?

  • Nice playing great sounds. Is that the 212 or 112 Bogner alchemist?

  • sounds good.........bogner..........

  • Hey man, spot on tone. This amp is legit. Im gonna pick up one soon. =)

  • are you satisfied with your texas special pickups? have you thought of buying some other custom shop pickups after you bought those ones?

  • excuse me!

please teach me the song name of 1:39~

  • @stratmn i've heard a lot of iffy reviews for this amp's quality--lots of people have wiring problems, or the amp just "dies". have you had any such problems?

  • i just bought one of these today along with a american telecaster and a digitech bundle all for 2000, such a amazing tube amp for the money

  • A friend of mine bought one of those peavey amps right next to the bogner and it died on her right before a show.

  • OMG i don't know what to buy.:( Vox AC30CC2 LINE6 BOGNER2x12 or Fender hot rod deluxe?

  • @czesio12323 Hi Czesio.

I'm looking at the same options.

All forementioned amps have great cleans, which don't differ that much.

They do differ in the Drives/Crunches and Hign gains, so there should be our choice, I guess.

SInce I'm a Blues / Pop Rock guyy I'm probably going for the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III. I have the opportunity to side-by-side test these amps (thanks to FeedBack in Holland) and the Fender cleans 3D sound everytime rocks my boat. Only one more test session to go ... :-)

  • I love the tone you're getting out of this thing. Would you recommend this over a Fender Reverb or other classic amp?

    thanks, CaptinCabbage

  • Is this the 112?

I've been thinking about buying one of these but my main concern is will it be loud enough to keep up with the rest of the band without the need to mic and put through the PA.

How have you found it? I'vr heard they sound better cranked anyway. Thanks.

  • Great sound and playing.

  • hey that sounds great man, what were the settings thats you used?

  • What pick ups do you use? Thanks.

  • This is the SRV "Sleepy Mix" :) Sounds great. Nice playing. Stevie had a great tone and made great music and I think you did him justice. I like these amps and have played with them quite extensively, but I tend to stick with just one or two tones from my amps so I wouldn't utilize all the features of the alchemist. Great vid though.

  • The alchemist is amazing.jam on an Hss strat at my local music store,it's so versatile i did some blues and jazz then some megadeth all with one guitar one amp and no effects.

  • What settings/fx are you using to get this tone?

  • very "chimey & glassy" i guess you can say... i look forward to getting the head version of this amp.. looking to get a 212 cabinet too- but i find the one that is supposed to go with it to be overpriced and ugly.. great tone man

  • That first song is Lenny, right? And the second is Riviera Paradise? Great playing, by the way!

  • Could you post the amp setting? Sounds great man. Keep up the vids!!!!

  • that sounds good as shit, very expressive

  • try with a brian moore guitar ! and you will have god sound

  • You are the man, thanks for these demo's. I've been bouncing around about buying a new amp and I've looked at everything! AND I MEAN EVERYTHING! I just can't imagine that I couldn't dial or pedal anything in I want on this amp. I had a Bogner Shiva and sold it like a dumbAzs, but this amp is a kewl substitute. I want one of these combo's thanks again for posting the demo's, and nice playin'

  • you know, ive never been able to get this good of a tone out of these amps.

the videos really inspired me to give it another go

  • hey dude it's refreshing to hear this, best video you posted out of the three!

Btw, i got an alchemist too (2x12 combo), just wondering - have you done any maintenance or modification to the amp between now and the time you bought it? Just wanna gauge how reliable it is

  • awesome sound! could i ask what strings you use?

    btw what song is that?

  • They're D'Addario 0.10s, nothing special. The first song is called 'Lenny' off of Texas Flood, and the second one is called 'Riviera Paradise' off of In Step. Both are 'approximations' of those tunes... I'm just riffing on the main parts of the song.

  • Wow, thanks man! I dig this thing's tone too, quite a bit.

  • amazing sound

I will probably buy this bogner...

    is it realy versatile??

  • Thanks! The amp is pretty versatile, and surprisingly good sounding.

  • it says on his other video that its a 62' reissue with texas specials and a JB jr. in the bridge. looks to be equipped with a graphtech nut and string tree.

  • Correct! Graphtech saddles too.

  • Hey Dude Sounds great!!! I just bought this amp today and I am going to try your setting's. Awesome job

  • That a Fender Highway One you using right there? Other than that damn sounds really beautiful

  • Judging by the headstock, it can't be a new Highway 1 because they have the 70s script logos. Could be a Am Standard?

  • seems to me it is an american standard.....but this might be a modifited one, because the american standards dont use texas specials....

  • You're right. Maybe this is a Custom Shop guitar because those pickups are technically custom shop ones.

  • Hey - sorry for the delay in replying here. This is an old '62 Japanese reissue guitar. The pickups are a JB Jr. in the bridge, and Texas Specials in the neck and middle. I believe this video is played with the bridge pickup split combined with the middle pickup - the 'quack' position. That guitar has been through quite a bit with me... she's my baby!! : )

  • Sounds awesome! I've adopted your amp settings for my own Alchemist now ;)

  • sounds extremely fendery!!!! I play this amp at guitarcenter for hours all the time I plan on getting one sometime in the near future to run in stereo with my Fender Vibrolux

  • what is this - SRV ?

  • stevie ray vaughan i think...

  • Lenny- SRV

  • That was great! But I don't think that SRV was a good choice to demo a 'fendery' tone because his tone was rather dark and mellow when fenders are bright and sparkly

  • srv tone is best from a fender amp,

who wld u suggest then mcpedo?

  • Comment removed

  • nope nope and nope

  • "srv tone is best from a fender amp"

sure, maybe, except that SRV played a Dumble 6 string slinger. He used Fenders as well, but all highly modded.

No unmodified Fender amp will get the tones that SRV got.

  • u can get pretty bloody close though..

  • Beautiful any pedals besides what you have there

  • No pedals, that's guitar straight into the amp.

  • Nice sounding amp , but the player makes 90% of the sound. Very nice. Mike

  • Thanks, I appreciate that!

  • Is that a 62 Reissue Strat?

  • From a long time ago, yes... the neck is the only thing left from the original '62 MIJ reissue.

  • What pickups do you have installed in that strat?

I really like that alchemist, and really nice playing.

    :thumbs up:

  • Seymour Duncan JB Jr. in the bridge, Texas Specials in the neck and middle. It's a cool amp. Thanks for watching!

  • Wow, that gave me the shivers allover my body!!!... SRV is alive and kickin. Great, just great, man!

  • Wow - thanks for the comment!

  • Goddamn...that was beautiful...you have SRV down pat.

  • Thanks man, I appreciate your comment.

  • it sounds like srv at el mocambo

  • Awesome! what a great sound and feeling, I love this song and you play it very well :D

  • felt like steve was in the room for amoment. Thanks for that

  • Wow - thanks for the compliment!

  • oh the footswitch on the head version can you set the tempo of the delay and shut it on n off from the footswtich??

  • You can turn the delay on and off, but not tap tempo from the footswitch. Tap tempo is only available on the front of the amp.

  • HD makes you pants look strange. :D

  • Yeah, the lighting was really low in the room, so the camera is kinda goofy. You should see what it does to my face! :)

  • And btw, the old amp that is having problems? I hope that isnt that marshall clone u got. That thing sounds so awesome!

  • Unfortunately, it is the Marshall clone. I fixed it, but something's not quite right with it. My amp tech is pretty busy these days, so I need something to gig with!! I'm on the fence about selling the clone or keeping it as a backup.

  • Ah I love the tone of that thing! Please keep it, I think u will regret selling it in the future.

  • Tell the truth man. You were playin thru the peavey. lol

  • Laugh! That's funny. The Peavey is a good amp though - a rock machine! A much different sound.

  • I got an VOX aC30, but I wold like to try Bogner Alchemist, I would like to know your opinion about the VOX AC30 Cstom Classic?

  • The vox sounds a lot nicer than this imho. The playing of stratmn is awesome so this makes it sound better. I didnt like the alchemist in person, it didnt sound like tubes or smth.

  • Hey thanks!

In all honesty, the first time I played the Alchemist, I didn't care for it either. That was the head / 2x12 cab setup, with the G12H and G12M speaker. When I played the 1x12 combo on another visit, it was a totally different experience. On stage, it looks a little silly, the other guitarist has a half stack and I have this little combo, but this thing roars when it's turned up!

Just thought I'd chime in, as the speakers definitely make a big difference, IMO.

  • Exactly what I heard, I heard that 2x12 cab. Strange a combo sounds better, I always prefere a head and cab. The look isnt everything, its the tone :) When I hear the cranked tones in ur other vids I like it. That silly built in effects are for b class amps, when u play it, it surelly sounds like an a class amp. I like the round bass.

  • Could you maybe record something with a lespaul type guitar?=d Great sound! I'm going to buy one too..

  • riviera paradise-SRV

  • what's that bit at around 1:23. i saw a few of these licks in your vibroverb demo. love them.

    great stuff
