Mike Mentzer will always be a good guy in my books, I don't care what they say about him, what they write about him, or his past. He braught some very innovative ideas to bodybuilding, and helped improve the way natural bodybuilders train. Mike never denied that he took steroids, infact he readily admitted it, and in doing so, makes me believe that his words, his books are legit.

One of the saddest clips I have ever viewed, these men strode the earth with such majesty and power, seeing them reduced to shambling messes ( Especially Michael's chain smoking ) filled me with despair. The body demands respect, some can endure a cocktail of drugs, fags, roids but many, like these young, gifted men, will be cut down prematurely Mick Melbourne Australia

This is so sad. I wonder @ what point in time Mike gave up? He was in such great shape in his prime. And here he is smokeing on a cancer stick.so sad. Take this as a lesson.

Would love someones feedback on this, I have been aware of Mike for many years, but only recently brought some of his books. I really, truly admire him...an Olympic standard Bodybuilder, and a very intelligent mind. When I see these videos, I get so confused about Mike... He seems unwell, slow... Forgive me as I dont mean lack of respect for this brilliant man..I'd love some feedback. Was he unwell? Or was he usually like this? Thanks guys, peace and all the best!

@jlebesis I got to train with Mike in the early 90's. He was as sharp as a tack then. He appears to be under the influence in this video. He told me then 91 that he had had an amphetamine problem.

@jlebesis I know how you feel. I'm a big fan of the books but these videos make me so sad and somewhat confused how a man with so much vigour and warrior like discipline; someone who has done so much for the bodybuilding world seems so sad....why was he so unhappy with his life?

this is so sad,i was a big fan of mike,im 52 now.but i have a theory,in the 70s and 80s mike and ray used human growth hormone,the stuff made from cadavers....i reckon they got the their health problems from that shit.what ever they died of the mentzers got secondary...its sad to hear ray say he cant get a girl,but mike looks about 70...smokes like a trooper...sad..sad

@flakey59 ..growth hormone probably has nothing to do with it..with respect the mentzer family has had a history of heart problems and a number of websites have said this over and over...smoking only makes thing worse,......anyone who takes steroids in moderation under the supervision of a professional such a doctor with blood work and physicals done a few times a year cant go wrong..

i dont take roids but i think people should realize roids is small piece of the pie when u put in genetics
