  • he was a big influence of james brown, james dedicated an album to him

  • VERY NICE SONG FROM LITTLE JOHN!

HE HAS A VOICE OF HIS OWN!

GREAT VOICE & LOVE THIS SONG

  • Jesus, this sounds like Sam Cooke.

Who influenced who? Who came first??

Whatever this is a great song.

  • Good question. It's hard to say who influenced who.. They both got started around 1955 and both became popular around the same time. I do hear similarities between them but Sam Cooke always sounded like Sam Cooke and Little Willie John always sounded like Little Willie John. If there was inspiration it's hard to say who inspired who.

  • 1960, actually. What an enormous talent he was.

  • I really love this man. With many problems. Good Song

  • @ketefollen1984 This brother reaches deep down into the collective repository of black collective soul. He takes his personal struggles and pain and transforms them into beautiful cultural expressions that speak to yearnings and sufferings we all experience. This is why we love him so.

  • Great post PJ, thanks.

  • I bought this record for 25 cents a while back. A nice clean copy too!

  • I was able to get "Sleep" several months ago, but I can't remember where. His "Fever" is the definatiive version. Great R&B voice.

  • This is really nice! I love LWJ!

  • GREAT BALLAD

  • Didn't know much about Little Willie John until James Brown really talked him up in his autobiography. I looked up his music and am very impressed. My favorite is "Let Them Talk".

  • Brill.

  • TOOooOON KTF

  • What I like about music from this time is the songs were straight to the point. Of course they had restrictions with the length of their songs. But there was no story telling going on here. Baby, you affect me!!! Was the way a man told a woman he loved her. That's what I'm talkin' about!!! Please bring back those days. I said PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I agree... When I find the flux capacitor you can take a trip to '58 with me.

  • Ver well done by Willie John!Reminiscent of Sam Cooke doing doo wop!

  • I was thinking the same thing. Theres definitely a Soul Stirrer influence.

  • Exactly, close your eyes, looks like Sam Cooke in my head.

  • this one has more of a blues sound and easy listening. i enjoyed it, thanks
