I beat my friends si off the line when I had my sohc 3k 161hp/185torque he eventually caught up due to more power. They really are torqueless. Anyhow now that I have a twin turbo awd neither cars are a problem for me.
@jowen034 The 5-speed WRX has 224 hp, the 6-speed Si has 197 hp. The Civic weighs 300-400 lbs less and is in it's power band the whole time while the WRX's boosted power trails off at higher RPM. From a roll, with the Civic at 6000 RPM+(VTEC), it should be close.... in theory.
si is probably more around 180whp. it doesnt loose much since its fdw. the subaru on the other hand losses like 25% at the wheels. he won because of the launch on wet asphalt.

I paid 7k for an 02 ep3 with 68,000 miles because somebody left a battery in the trunk and it ate through the carpet, the spare, through the entire truck where you could see the ground. @5959512 if it is a 2001-2003 model wrx then yes it has a EJ20t 2.0 vf38 (if i am not mistaken) turbo which makes about 224 hp and 220 torque at about 3k rpms

Then they changed again to VF48 for 2008 until now, I think. I tried looking for the VF38, and where it came from, and all I could gather is that, it might have come from a JDM legacy, or an early-mid 2000's STI RA. Didn't have the attention span to pin it down entirely though.

Hey guys, you should all check out the drivetrain loss of an AWD car vs a FWD car. From a kick, if the STi is stock, the civic can just get a CAI, tune, headers, exhaust and it will be a very close race. Before you go on about "OH WELL YOU CAN DO THE SAME TO THE WRX", yes, I know...I'm just stating the fact that a 230hp car that is lighter than the 300hp AWD car, will give it a good run on the interstate.
i had a 08 si and i traded it in on a 08 wrx( insurance was to high to get a sti) and all together the wrx is a better car even if the wrx was fwd the civic still wouldn't get traction cuz on wet roads the civic was helpless
I a gree with doomsdaygsr, up until the ferrari f40, the s2k had the most hp per liter in the world, honda always over engineer's their cars. High revving is what a honda is made 2 do. For example the 2.5rs only puts out 160hp, and around 160 ft lbs of trq NA, and thats in a 2900 lb car, at that point u can take a single cam vtec in a crx and smoke the shit out of it. And if u want power, take the j32, 3.2 liter, and turbo that, at that point wrx does not even come close.
here is a funny but true comment the si keeps up with most cars and beats some in its class. If honda was to add an awd system like a wrx or evo and add a turbo to the si would kill the evo and wrx especially if honda does this to their new model the rr advanced concept which puts out 260-270hp and 200lbs + - of torque with a 2.2 liter 4 cylinder engine. Honda has the technology available they use an awd system in the crosstour and mdx and use paddleshifters in the fit

@Heath3250 the sti is almost a whole different car from a wrx besides the same chassis and interior. the sti as more liters, more boost from the turbo, 6 speed trans, basically a bulletproof drive-train, stiffer suspension, wider wheels, bigger intercooler, a less restrictive exhaust, and has 73 horsepower over a wrx. And a wrx is way out of the league of the civic, maybe the guy in the wrx should have raced a srt-4 instead, but then again i've smoked the shit out of those in my wrx too.

I beat my friends si off the line when I had my sohc 3k 161hp/185torque he eventually caught up due to more power. They really are torqueless. Anyhow now that I have a twin turbo awd neither cars are a problem for me.

@jowen034 The 5-speed WRX has 224 hp, the 6-speed Si has 197 hp. The Civic weighs 300-400 lbs less and is in it's power band the whole time while the WRX's boosted power trails off at higher RPM. From a roll, with the Civic at 6000 RPM+(VTEC), it should be close.... in theory.

si is probably more around 180whp. it doesnt loose much since its fdw. the subaru on the other hand losses like 25% at the wheels. he won because of the launch on wet asphalt.

doesn't matter 180whp would translate to 210 at the wheels at least and its not making that much. On a mustang dyno it would never make 180whp stock.

wow don't know what I was typing. never type while drunk even if its on youtube! I meant crank 210 at the crank. Example 3000gt non turbo 222 at the crank only dyno in the 170s!!! That means it was overrated from the factory and is closer to 210.

@jowen034 227bhp vs 197bhp actually... and a mid 14 second subaru vs a high 14 second honda. there more closely matched than you think. sure the suby has the launch advantage but as the speed increases the honda will start catching up. if they did a 60 roll i bet they'd be even or even the honda would pull slightly. subys are awesome but theres a reason there owners never want to race from a roll. (at least my buddy never did lol)

I paid 7k for an 02 ep3 with 68,000 miles because somebody left a battery in the trunk and it ate through the carpet, the spare, through the entire truck where you could see the ground. Spent an hour at the local car dump getting a new spare and carpet and cardboard thingy paid $45 dollars and used a saws-all to cut out the old section of crap and rivited in some aluminum, took me about 6 hours to do it up legit and cost me $150 to have spare mount welded on, basically i stole it

@5959512 if it is a 2001-2003 model wrx then yes it has a EJ20t 2.0 vf38 (if i am not mistaken) turbo which makes about 224 hp and 220 torque at about 3k rpms

@Subaru904 I know the 2004-2006 STI's had a VF39, but I wasn't sure if they changed it in 2007. As it turns out, google says they did change. 2007 STI has a VF43. Then they changed again to VF48 for 2008 until now, I think. I tried looking for the VF38, and where it came from, and all I could gather is that, it might have come from a JDM legacy, or an early-mid 2000's STI RA. Didn't have the attention span to pin it down entirely though.

Hey guys, you should all check out the drivetrain loss of an AWD car vs a FWD car. From a kick, if the STi is stock, the civic can just get a CAI, tune, headers, exhaust and it will be a very close race. Before you go on about "OH WELL YOU CAN DO THE SAME TO THE WRX", yes, I know...I'm just stating the fact that a 230hp car that is lighter than the 300hp AWD car, will give it a good run on the interstate.

i had a 08 si and i traded it in on a 08 wrx( insurance was to high to get a sti) and all together the wrx is a better car even if the wrx was fwd the civic still wouldn't get traction cuz on wet roads the civic was helpless

I a gree with doomsdaygsr, up until the ferrari f40, the s2k had the most hp per liter in the world, honda always over engineer's their cars. High revving is what a honda is made 2 do. For example the 2.5rs only puts out 160hp, and around 160 ft lbs of trq NA, and thats in a 2900 lb car, at that point u can take a single cam vtec in a crx and smoke the shit out of it. And if u want power, take the j32, 3.2 liter, and turbo that, at that point wrx does not even come close.

here is a funny but true comment the si keeps up with most cars and beats some in its class. If honda was to add an awd system like a wrx or evo and add a turbo to the si would kill the evo and wrx especially if honda does this to their new model the rr advanced concept which puts out 260-270hp and 200lbs + - of torque with a 2.2 liter 4 cylinder engine. Honda has the technology available they use an awd system in the crosstour and mdx and use paddleshifters in the fit

@Heath3250 the sti is almost a whole different car from a wrx besides the same chassis and interior. the sti as more liters, more boost from the turbo, 6 speed trans, basically a bulletproof drive-train, stiffer suspension, wider wheels, bigger intercooler, a less restrictive exhaust, and has 73 horsepower over a wrx. And a wrx is way out of the league of the civic, maybe the guy in the wrx should have raced a srt-4 instead, but then again i've smoked the shit out of those in my wrx too.
