  • Calvin, thank you for sharing your story with the world! Big kiss! X

  • Much love though man. Don't take that as me being negative towards your story. People like you are the ones that will break the barrier. Keep doing what you're doing.

  • Hey man, I just wanted to ask how you knew Harrison was gay. There is nothing wrong with being gay whatsoever. People should be what they want always. But I'm curious to know your sources because I live in the same city that Harrison did and was Good friends with him. The rise against song that acknowledges him also is about gay bullying suicide. But he was dating a girl when he died and I never knew of him being gay. So if you're just jumping to conclusions, please don't.

  • Calvin i know just how you feel but the other way around i lived in the city and move to a small town and when i came out at 18 witch seems along time ago i did not have the name calling but when i move to the small town and this is the sad thing is i am 55yr old now and i get what the kids that took there lives had to go true but for each one that would call my fag two would stand up for me so yes it get better

  • This Video has gave me hope for the Future, thankyou!

  • calvin, your eyes are amazing... from another planet. Keep being this sweet

  • @izzylark That's actually the korean sign for U. :/

  • Ok, but you don't look so gay in this video

  • @YaoiSutori Homosexuality isn't a fashion movement, jsyk

  • @wesleyis16 Oh, because he mentioned that people asked or told him how gay he was but here in this video we can't tell coz there's no gayness at all. That's why I put on that comment after watching at 2:54 XD

  • this video is completely inspiring. i'm completely straight, and like you, it was never a question. it breaks my heart to know that someone could be so badly hurt, just because of who they love. ALL LOVE IS EQUAL. i can't believe this is still a controversial topic among our society, and same-sex marriages aren't allowed in some places in the world. i'm doing a video about anti gay-bullying and i may use a couple clips from here.

  • Im fall in love with you

  • I suffered in middle school with people calling me gay behind my back and some bullying in a class. I then went to a small private high school and I thrived. I met a friend and we would dress in drag for Halloween and school events and people just smiled and laughed. I loved high school. I am now in college in Vermont and my roommates think i'm gay. (I'm not sure if i'm gay or not..I still feel mixed and i'm 19 on Sunday.) You lived in Westchester County, NY? That is where I live!!!

  • YOURE SO CUTE :) your eyes are gorgeous<3

  • I am SO glad that i live in one of the most accepting counties.. Three of my best friends are gay, and it mean nothing to anyone.. - it's hard to imagine that in some places of the world, people actually care if other people like the same sex or not.. Wow . .

  • Very brave of you to share this story!

  • This was an incredibly moving coming-out story. Worrying about having a beard in Kindergarten? Wow.

Also, I kind of have a crush on you now. :)

  • You don't sound or look gay.... in a way that's how I can respect you.

  • You're amazing Calvin <3

  • i live and go to high school in westchester right now and i can safely say that the opinions of the kids here have changed a little bit for the better...people are more open and willing to accept anyone for who they are. Its slowly getting better and although there are still bullies more and more teenagers are willing to stick up for those who need a friend...thank you for speaking your mind and touching the hearts of so many people :)

  • …cont. Dont’t get it and are not accepting. But there are still so many people who are gay and who are accepting or plainly dont give a shit so idunno. Sounds odd to me. not that I think he’s lying haha but it is surprising and disappointing.

  • west chester pa i wldnt think that wld happen there

  • @esmith4646 yeah, in westchester at least nowadays no one really cares. it’s pretty big I’d say.. I mean its an entire county so it would at least seem to me like there is that opportunity especially being so close to the city to make friends that you can have so much in common with. I live in westchester and the school i go to is very big. it’s too big to have cliques and for there to be one way to be. sure, there are people who are not accepting of gays- people who are set in their ways and

  • @jx3xc thats suprising i live 10 miles from the philly montgom border and theres no hate there... mayb cuz its wealthier....

  • i loved this story, its so motivational. you put up with so much, not many people can say they have that much self esteem, and could put up with 19 years of pressure.

ps you have beautiful eyes AND amazing cherry lips :)

  • You are amazing. I promise I will now stand up for anyone. I'm straight, but my brother is gay. He had death threats, bullying, everything in highschool. He now lives with his partner, and they own a house together. :) I completely support you, and you are so beautiful. Love you! <3

  • Your great Calvin. Your brave Calvin. Your a beautiful person Calvin. Forget everyone else.

  • You're awesome.

  • You are a beautiful person, on the inside and the outside :)

  • @Gking891 you are so fucking ignorant -_- then what ur sayin is racism, sexism etc is ok? wow..

  • Comment removed

  • @Gking891 Would you PLEASE do us the huge favour and shut the fuck up? Wouldn't you whine about people calling you a shallow, stupid, ignorant person - even if you obviously ARE a shallow, stupid, ignorant person? Being gay is not filthy or immoral and it most certainly is NOT abnormal and it DEFINITELY does not give anyone the right to make fun of another human being! Regardless of our sexual preferences, weight, ethnical background or whatever - we're all humans!

  • Calvin,

You are a wonderful person please keep the faith and never forget that you are loved even by people who you don't know. I will hold you in my heart you are an inspiring person.

  • Im so happy for you! Keep empowering others :))

  • Buck sent me here. It's nice to hear it again. I know for a fact that it does get better. You are really gorgeous.

  • @Gking891 No one likes to be called a fag or to be known gay. Reason why is because whenever someone admits their gay or lesbo, people make fun of them. Stfu and gtfo.

  • This is great, great video. :)

  • @alot0fmonkeys only god can judge people. In you doing so, you commit blasphemy which is far worse.

  • A man having a relationship with another man and vice versa with woman is just not the way its supposed to be. Im not homophobic but I study the bible n all. and there are male and females on this earth for a reason, we humans have done this too ourselves it hasnt been like this forever, just a bit more recently. God made all other animals perfect and the way its supposed to be. Gay marriage shouldnt be. But bullying shouldn't be either. But this wont change anytime soon.

  • @Alot0fmonkeys there exist homosexual animals, so how are they "perfect" yet we're not?

  • I honestly do not understand why anyone cares if someone is gay or not. Seriously. Why does it matter? If you're gay, and someone makes fun of you because of it, just call them a douchebag, give them the finger, and tell them to fuck off.. Then go have a rewarding and successful life.

  • I'm so glad that I found this, my best friend has been struggling with this issue lately, he's got a girlfriend a ton of friends everyone likes him but he's not happy. I tell him all the time he need to break up with his gf as nicely as possible and be with someone (obviously a guy) that he really wants to be with, I sent him this video and I hope he's as inspired as I was.

  • I also knew I was gay since I was in kindergarten. I made the mistake of asking a boy if, since he was my friend, did that make him my "boy"friend, and from then on I was ostracized by my peers. I was only able to make friends with other outcasts or new students, but these friendships never lasted long. I went through 12 years of school trying harder to pass as straight than trying to pass my classes. Luckily, my family loved me no matter what.

  • God loves everyone no matter what they are right? then to all the stupid homophobes out there, you obviously don't know your God as well as you think do you?

  • You dont look gay at all

  • i fucking respect you for this, not many people can do that, but you did. you've got through it. you are a fucking LEGEND.

  • U r really cute. I'm gay and think all homophobes should rot in hell

  • Really? This video only has that many views. Well I hope others in the closet like me find this, because it's honestly one of the best on YouTube. I'm 16, it will get better in 2 years. (:

  • @thegayteen Trust me, go to a liberal arts college. You will thrive!

  • To any gay guys contemplating suicide, take it from a future preacher-Jesus loves you, none of us are good enough to go to heaven, gay or straight, only Jesus was. What's important is to accept Christ as your Lord and Savior.

  • I am still in the closet but get bullied for being gay... My bestfriend is the only one who knows and he is in love with me but I fear that he is all I have and I dont wanna lose him as a friend.

  • I allway thought that gay meant happy:P

  • YOU GO GIRL! :P

  • this vidio made me cry!!!

  • u got pretty eyes ;D

  • Thank you. This video has helped me so much. Inspiring. =)

  • how did they know you were gay? I would never guess.

  • Amazing video man. I can relate to everything you said, and I hope every gay youth watches this.

  • @packerman1962 FUCK YOU, YOU COMPLEAT AND UTER FUCKING JUDGEMENTAL HOMOPHOBE GO TWO FUCKING HELL WITH ALL THE OUTHER JUDGEMENTAL PRICK GET A FUCKING LIFE DICK HEAD !!!!!!!

  • @packerman1962 'jack ass'

  • @packerman1962 excuse me? we're in 2011 and you still think that only gays can rape children? Boy, you're such a retarded guy. EVERYONE (at least, those who has psychological disorders) can rape a child, can be a pedophile, I mean a mother can be a pedophile, a straight brother, a straight grandpa, even a priest can be a pedophile!

And ou know what? What you think doesn't make you a better person than a pedophile.

  • Your life was sad so you say.i'm a God believer and i found God two years and now i'm been bully and talk back because i believe in Jesus.I don't Blame you who am I to do that and nor should someone one else.God gave us free will i hate religions because it drags most of us to be confused, I separate religion and God why? because he is the truth i am not gay and i'm a Christian i don't think your right nor i feel sorry for you but i love. why? cause God is Love.

  • Comment removed

  • what the....? I don't look nor act gay at all.

  • WHAT I wan't everyone to know is that everything in society is a SOCIAL CONSTRUCTION: A DISCOURSE. When people realize that WORDS WILL NEVER HURT.

  • You're cute. And love the video. :)

    Very inspirational.

    ..

  • I can't believe you had to put up with such a life. I live in the UK and all of a sudden I feel so blessed that I have not had it nearly as hard as you. Is this what it's like everywhere in America? It's heartbreaking.

I used to hate myself, and insults really hurt me, however I would only ever get the odd insult.

  • Thanks! Very inspirational!

  • @cstowell

    Ciao Bello Calvin!

I wished to thank you for doing your part as a queer (LGBT/gay) man to promote this project, whose values will I believe , ultimately benifit both gay and straight young "at risk people ! Even I, growing up in the "left leaning, progressive", San Francisco Bay area, was not immune to the suffering wrought

by the suicide of a boy (Bobby Griffith/Prayers for Bobby) I had once loved. Stopping this profane phenomenon is very personal to me!

    Grazie

    Blaine

  • hey. i found tis vid while researching for a school production peice on how gay bullying affects people . i am a bisexual girl and i go to school in the city but live in a tiny village . when i came out a few months ago it was really hard and i got alot of stick for it . but it is getting better for me . i just wanted to say thank you for uploading this video because i got bullied so badly i started self harming . this video has helped me slightly so again thank you :)

  • im crying

  • Hey Calvin! I am a 22-yr-old straight girl so I can't know exactly how u felf, but I know what it feels like being different than what society expects u to be. I just want to add to what you're saying that if anyone gets bullied for any reason at all, you should just remember it's just school. It definitely does get better. When you finish school you just find ur way with ppl who accept u for who u are. No matter why you are different, it gets better. NICE VID CALVIN!

  • you're pretty!

  • Great video, thank you Calvin

  • xoxo calvin <3

  • Omg dude I feel so bad 4 u... I got bullied n shit but I got over it...i just got over it n didn't give a fuk about eat ppl thought... I'm happy 4 u dat u weren't sum idiot that killed himself :)

  • great video! can you make another? lol

  • You are so sexy you could fuck the shit out of me any day of the week

  • Good going. For the record, I don't think you look gay.

  • Calvin,

Thanks for the video. You had a very different experience than I did, and I think it's good for me to stay grounded by hearing others people's stories.

    Best, Ben.

  • Y would people say you sound so gay? You don't. I liked this video thank you

  • Thank you for making this video.

  • I LIKE GAY PEOPLE THERE KOOL

  • Yes thank you, it needs to be repeated all the time, I know just how difficult it is to come out to everyone,

  • Shame on the 7 privileged homophobic bigots who disliked this video.

  • This is so real and so necessary. I'm straight, but thanks for making this video.

  • your cute!

    And Inspirational <3

    :)

    xx

  • @Gking891 Shut the fuck up- delete your comment please...you must have no heart to say that. >:|

  • MamaLuigiMaster ..if u want a real chat about this..call anytime, didn't think so :)

    ...NO GAY RIGHTS

  • @raiders2000 (sighs) oh my god.. SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU HOMOPHOBIC ASSHOLE!!! just go rot in hell with the rest of the homophobes, racists, sexists, etc. i mean, really... just what is your justification for being so biased towards gay people? WHAT IS YOUR FUCKING JUSTIFICATION?! And don't give me all this "gays are immoral" or "faggots are evil" bullcrap! Give me a real GOOD REASON why you should have the right to treat gays as unequal. If ya can't do so, then please don't respond.

  • @MamaLuigiMaster Because they have the option to be happier than he can ever be. Miserable people strive to make others miserable.

  • @raiders2000 TRY BEING GAY, GOING THROUGH THIS SHIT, BEING "DIFFERENT" TO ALL OF YOUR CLASS MATES, BEING MADE TO FEEL LIKE A FUCKING ALIENATED COCK SUCKER, AND YOU'LL UNDERSTAND WHAT IT FEELS LIKE.

  • when I was in high school, when I had those dudes who found other ways to make life hell for me other than calling me a fag, because the one time someone called me that I knocked him on his ass and he was a bully and I am manly anyhow so I had to tell people and so they found other ways to exclude me and be subtle...

but with those homophobes that picked me last and gave me shitty parts of projects, I found that blowing them was the solution to that issue... they shut up after that...

  • on the contrary, the few gay people in my school were either queens or diesel dykes and my admission and beating up the isolated incident of homophobia I experienced didn't make me accepted by them at all... my lesbian mother either... for "bowing down to the straight world" by not being into the scene and pink triangle, which having family who fled the 3rd reich to avoid being killed by Nazis, I still can't understand that being a proud thing to wear and being afraid to be a queen...

  • and I am not the annoying macho trying to hard gay dudes either, they are like those fag bashers and tend to mate well with the same type of guy, kind of like the queens, they end up together also... my exes and I have always seemed like the single straight best friends and often get hit on by annoying straight women in bars and coming out leads to "we should go shopping sometime" and after passing they get rude too... not all fags want to be gay bffs and shop with women...

  • Great video, Calvin. Very inspiring, I hope there are kids out there who are listening and who take it to heart.

  • Thank you for sharing, Calvin. I am in my late 60s and went to school in the 1950s, and experienced the very same emotions you express in your video. Sadly, I had to stay in that closet for many more years hiding from it all, but finally found the courage to deal with the lies when I was 53 years old. It wasn't easy, but my life did get better as you've promised others it does.

  • I hope things are still working out for you calv

  • I absolutely loved your video.

  • I hope you make some more videos about different subjects... you have a good style.

  • Thanks for makeing this video Calvin

Im 13 and the bullying at my school i get for being gay is the same as what you said you went threw your video makes me feel better

    -sean :)

  • Touching story. Now can we see your boyfriend? Is he beautiful inside and outside? Dying to know, no pun intended.

  • Never regret what you DIDN'T do when you could have. What matters is that you did this and SOMEBODY is probably going to see it and be helped by it. Bravo, Calvin, for your bravery and your honesty!

  • I love your purple shirt ♥

  • I think that it's amazing how much stressed is shown the the children. Just like he said, he was in kinder and he already had issues like how can he make the people around him believe that he is not gay. It's just sad how things are in society, but it is true. It does get better. Hope that all of the people out there don't have to suffer like Calvin. For those that are in that sort of place, I just want you to know, "It does get better."

  • Calvin, you're so right.

It was hard for me too - the kids knew I was different in 3rd grade back in 1971. I made it through school and now there is so much joy to life. When you hear the taunts, withdraw focus and know that there is great love for you. Believe and the love will become prominent in your life. Love yourself because you are perfect just the way you are. Perfect.

Calvin - thanks again. Peace to you.

  • Calvin, I realized my comments from 2 weeks ago didn't get published. Just wanted to add my support and praise for your brave and thoughtful contribution to this important dialogue. Keep up the great work. Take this as far as you can!

  • Thank you so much for this. You went through that young-- and now look at you-- at handsome, young eloquent boy with so much wonderful ahead of you. Greetings from London, England. Zack x

  • Flawless video, flawless message, stan for life etc etc.

Found this via you know where

  • Bless you Calvin for having so much courage. This brought tears to my eyes. I hope many young people hear this & have the courage to call The Trevor Project for help.

  • Great video. This is why mine is silent; others like yourself have said it so much better than I could have.

  • Calvin, you are such a beautiful young man. Thank you for posting. I hope this reaches parents of young children and anyone who has a child in their life whom they care about . We must be aware that even very young children have these strong feelings about who they are, and that they receive and internalize the messages and the attitudes that surround them. We must let the children in our lives know that there's nothing wrong with them or their peers being gay, and that it's not okay to bully.

  • This is such a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing your story and your strength with us all. <3

  • Woohoo! Love it! Love you! Hooray for Gayness!

  • Thank you so much for this. Just awesome.

  • Great video; thanks for creating/sharing. I hope this and the whole series is found by kids in need of these hopeful messages!

  • You are a wonderful bright human being! Thank you for doing this video! I hope this helps the children, young adults, and adults who feel trapped, bullied and desperate. We are all human, and each one of us is precious.

  • I was bullied in junior high and high school in Springfield, Oregon during the 1970's but I had an advantage - my dad was my high school Vice Principal! Even so, it was a horrible experience and I am distraught to know that it still goes on today... I had hoped our nation had evolved more. Still I am heartened by young people like you with the will and determination to stand up to bullying. I hope that in our earlier and ongoing struggles we have in some ways made things easier for you.

  • Calvin, you rock. Proud to know you're an actual, real-life friend. Much Love Always!

  • thank you so much! this really helped me out ^^

  • You are adorable. Thank you for sharing your story and for making yourself available for those that need help.

  • Make another video, Calvin!

  • i dont get it he doesnt sound gay?

  • @FrekklesOnFire You can't sayhe doesn't sound gay. Some people sound gay doesn't mean they r gay.. :S..

  • @samueljameziskewl im aware of that im talking about how he says ppl would say oh kalvin u sound gay

  • thank you for sharing your story...happy you remained so strong...and you are really cute ;)

  • Sad, but gerat Story. Thanks for Helling me. Greefs from Germane

  • You can be proud: I'm out of the closet for 17 years and I never felt so proud to be gay, to see guys like you sharing a wonderful story... Just onhe word: Thank you!

    Big hugs from Germany !

  • Oh. You're wearing purple. Coincidence?

  • aw, you're cute:3

and you don't even sound gay

    this was inspiring.

i love you for making this

it's similar to what i'm going through and it gives me hope<3 thank you.

  • Thank you for sharing your story. It's so important that we stand up for people who are bullied for any reason. I hope you story helps someone.

  • i hate that it has to get better, it should already be better. But nice video.

  • I admire your beautiful honesty. Your words have incredible power. Thank you.

  • I admire your beautiful honesty. Your words have incredible power. Thank you.

  • You are so beautiful and courage is your name. Thank you. You made me cry you bastard. Love Calvin.

  • wow, what a story... thanks so much for sharing.

  • Aww <3 I bet your first boyfriend felt exactly the same way about you!

  • Hi Calvin - I was touched by your monologue and I feel sure that it will help some young people. It continues to amaze me that when the truth is told, it is so riveting. David-Paul in Montreal, Canada

  • Wow, Calvin. Yet another great video from a guy who has found his way.

I am wondering, when in college, and when your friends asked "Are you gay, Calvin?" if saying "Yes" may have been a better thing for you. I have a feeling many of them would not care or would be more accepting of you. Some may have wanted to date you, as you are obviously a good-looking man.

Take it from a 47-year old gay man, it's not 10% of the population. It's more like 50% interested, 30% for sure. ;-)

  • Great video and encouragement to others who may be going through the same thing. You are right no matter what our life situation is things will change and they do get better. Bullying is a major problem and the only way we can change it is by speaking up. Thank you to all who are watching and leaving your comments.

  • Thanks! You're wonderful!

  • wooow! so deep! congrats for be so brave! good luck from Barcelona in Catalonia. :)

  • Hey Calvin, thanks for your beautiful video. You are a beautiful guy, and masculine in the best sense - I wouldn't have guessed you were gay, but I'm glad you are! And glad you are happy!

  • Sorry, this is my second comment and I've seen your video like 5 times now. I think I'm in love with you! You are so adorable.

  • AMAZING video and story. I know exactly where you are coming from.

  • Calvin, thank you so much for sharing your story. You are an awesome person, and you're so right. It does get better!

  • Great video. Plus, you are GORGEOUS. Nice lips and eyes!! Sorry, I know I'm not supposed to be saying things like that, lol.

  • I feel so bad for how it went for you. That happened to me too, but back then I was just called a "sissy" all the time.

  • Brought tears to my eyes. Many thanks.

  • videos like these make me so happy.

as i get older i feel so bad for other young gay people.

i guess i had a tough time in school too, but ive always had a super thick skin.

i feel bad for people who do let ignorant people get to them and these videos are so great because its letting them know things do get better.

its so true! kids are idiots. ignore them, keep going.

    stay strong and carry on.

    brush them haters off! :)

  • I'm 16 ..

and Yeah I get bullied @ school alot cuz I'm gay.

I hated my life .. I started not caring of myself ..

It still ain't working .. I'm still hating my life .. I'm still getting

bullied .. and after seeing this video .. and after knowing that

it gets better .. it made me feel really good .. it feel way so much better ..

so I guess I'll have to focus on my study and get out of this country

as fast as I could ..

    Thank you!

  • @net1warrior it's important not to hate yourself because others hate you. You are beautiful because of who you are, not because of what others think of you. Just endure it and you will lead a great life after school~
