Sony DSC-W270 Black Unboxing + 720p Test Video

I got it in black, this month, at a Sony Style store for 179$ CAN, which is about the same as US$. Also, I got a case and 3X faster charger free with it. A really good deal.

In my local Sony centre this goes for €229, online i can get it for €165 inc P+P.

I like the look of it though, i have the DSC-W80 now, it has gotten dusty inside though and is affecting the picture quality.

I bought this camera last week for concert events and touring around. Have to say the videos are stunning and good sound quality but the pictures i was not happy with esp at night. It seems to take the camera a few seconds to foucus and have to hold it really steady. On a windy day not good

well it depends on what your looking for really. I got the Flip Mino just because i like the handy-ness of it, its very compact and quick to take videos off it. Its a great portable video camera. I got the Sony because my Sony H3 broke on me and this was a replacement. The W270 takes amazing pictures, incredibly quickly and very simple to operate on the go.

@TimeScaleProductions I got this camera because i am going to america for 5 months. I have a nice but large bridge camera that takes awesome photographs and hd video. But to take with you on a day out requires having it round your neck all day. So i was looking for something much smaller to take good pics and video. I looked into to the flip etc, but the pic quality was poor, and they had no real zoom. This beauty does both very well and its cheap for what it can do!

@maxwellmovies This camera is really great and its incredible ive nearly had it a whole year! Its still going great! All the videos from my gigs that ive been to have been edited from both the flip mino and the DSC-W270 - they both up their ups and downs. The W270 cant zoom once recording but the quality is incredible and the flip mino is tiny and can digital zoom, but the quality isnt really comparable to the sony + it doesnt take 12M images! Enjoy the states

But finding one that could do that, and everything else this sony does within by budget was impossible unless getting a second hand model with no warranty left. So i think its a small compromise. The sound quality is pretty good, i dont know what the compression would be like at a party, but i think it would fair pretty well if you have it on the 720p fine setting. Hope this helps :)

ive got a memory stick duo 4GB which can take 56min of HD footage, and 694 12M images, not so sure about the bat life tho, it will prob do the whole hour of HD filming, but havent tested it to see, but if your turning on and off the camera it will decrease the bat and make sure you have the brightness on the screen set to normal. Its a great camera and i hope to get on a use it more soon! Let me know how it goes at the party!

nope no you cannot zoom while filming which is annoying, not even digital. Although ive never had a still cam that could.

nope there is no memory card that comes with it (ive got a memory stick duo 4GB which can take 56min of HD footage, and 694 12M images) the internal memory is only 11MB which can only hold 2 12M images, so not great on that front
