Excellent review and straight to the point..! I just got my D90 (love it:-) and try to take a break from the "dry manuals", and find some hands-on videos here.
Amazing test video. This is exactly what I was looking for. I just have one question, though: What is the maximum size of SDHC card that the D90 can take/go up to? I've heard it can go up to 32GB, but I haven't been able to confirm this yet. - Your feedback is greatly appreciated! :-)
If you're shooting a film, and want cinema like quality, get the Canon 5d mark II. On Youtube there are a few side by side tests, comparing the two, and It's the reason that I own the 5D mark II.
The resolution is at 2k and the Red camera system, which they're shooting a lot of major motion pictures on shoots at double the resolution (4k), but the 5D gets much better low light results.
The sensor on the 5D Mark II is the same size as 35mm film . It's the very best you can get on a lower budget.
i disagree, i just looked at a review which mentioned that it recorded video at 30 fps. Simply put, if it can't to 24p, it is useless as a film camera.
thank you, these shots were very helpful. I myself am thinking about getting D90, mainly for photography, but it is good to know that it can shoot video quite good too :]
Seems to me that ivuemedia has absolutely no damn clue how to spell or even recognize good qualitly from a digital camera. It's not a camcorder. I've taken great video with mine. If you only got the d90 for video, that is even dumber. Get a fucking video camera for about $1000 then.
I got the D90 for Video to have a wide angle for realestate media, I have every lates Nikon camera and lens. The D3 is a great camera. so sad nikon give us a cheap product like D90. video quality so poor. I been a nikon person 10 years. they just dot have it in video. I have seen great result with the canon D5
ive just brought a d90 and im more into filming than photos , i was shoked at how good this camera is for video ive decided to shoot a whole prodution on the thing , liked your video
I love the DOF, detail and low light response. I hate the slanty, accordian, rubbery effects of the rolling shutter. I'd put up with slanty pans to achieve such great low-light response but well lit scenes should have a snappy scan of teh CMOS sensor, without rolling shutter effects. I'll probably still get it. Audio should be stereo too.
I think this is the first time we've seen a D90 on a tripod. Being really smooth with the movements is all they've done. Check the last shot by the church. Its hand held but a smooth hand held shot. Being smooth helps.
It also looks like they found a way shut off the auto exposure. Which is also annoying.
I'm actually pretty surprised by the video quality for the D90. Makes me want to buy it that much more, but I do have a few questions about it. Can the 5 minute limit shooting time become problematic? Also if it overheats how long do you have to wait for it to cool down?
ATTN:SweetrideProductions! Great work. I just had a few questions for you, if you don't mind. What were your settings like? I'm having trouble getting my D90 to look this good. If you could please tell me...Shutter speed, ISO, Aperture, White balance, VR or tripod, and finally color saturation (whether standard, vivid, etc)or anything else you think that I might need to know. Thank you, and great work.
what do you know about capture hd clips¿¿¿ by HDMI??? and what about postproduction.... for use premiere or edius... thanks for post this test.. am seriously thinkin get one for shortfilm porpuses.... let me know what you got...

The video mode on this camera is useful, though the photographic performance is why you should purchase this D90.
