My favourite protein store makes samples of the drink you're interested in so you can try it on the spot! I love that shop. Anywho, my favourite protein is Dymatize Iso 100 in Gourmet Chocolate. It's so wonderfully chocolatey! And only 2 points per scoop which is a bargain! I drink it with skim milk (I prefer it that way instead of with water) and either add in some PB2 or blend it with frozen fruit. So yummy, and great for a breakfast on the go! :)

Energy snacks/gels: I tried maybe 25 different products - again, I was given a lot of free samples. My favorite was Clif BLOKS Strawberry Energy Chews. These are only really needed for serious exertion where I am burning 1500+ calories, but I also use them for training just so I get used to it and don't have any surprises in the middle of an event. This type stuff can be expensive and I'd say skip it unless you plan to cycle 100 miles or run a marathon. Haha!
Fiber Bars: I eat Kellogg's Fiber Plus Antioxidants Chocolate Chip. I tried maybe ten bars before deciding it was my favorite. I always have one with breakfast and sometimes have another one at night if I was low on fiber for the day. These bars are very expensive in the stores but I order them bulk wholesale and it works out to about $0.25/bar.
Protein powder: Samples are available! I did some triathlons last year and they always put tons of samples in the "goodie bags" - proteins, ointments, gels, etc. I sampled about five different brands of protein before deciding on Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Double Rich Chocolate. Haha, long name! Anyway, I am mostly a swimmer and a cyclist (not a bodybuilder!) but doing three scoops a day (~24g of protein per scoop) definitely helped balance my protein/carb/fat intake. Good luck!
My hubby is on Body for Life. I tried it years ago and it was a pretty good program but the workouts were brutal. I could barely move some days LOL I have started using Whey protein at night as my dessert. I put one scoop in the blender with 1 cup almond milk and a bunch of frozen strawberries and it's almost like ice cream consistency. I am trying to stay away from sugar so this is a great sweet substitute for me : )) I will show you if I do a food vlog this weekend : )
@dawgstress73 Oh that sounds like a good idea! Body for Life was killer!!! The first day after I did the arm workout was AWFUL!!! I hurt so bad! I liked that plan over all but I had a hard time with the cardio because I didn't have a timer and I would always get mixed up and annoyed. I kept all the workout info and I wanna try that part again. For the amount of time I stuck with it I lost like 18 pounds.
Did you see the scale when you weighed in? I always check, cause when they get busy, they can and will make mistakes. So now, if you lose one pound, its going to look like a gain to them. Hope you get it straighten out. None the less, congrats on your loss!!!
@sanleefree They have the little screen thing facing them so I can only see the bottom half of a couple of the numbers, but that's it!! I feel so betrayed!! I'll deffinitely have to mention that before I weigh in next time cuz I thought of it looking like a gain next week too. Grrr....thanks though! :)

I felt the same way cuz it's so freaking BIG (there's like over 100 people in it!) and they have all these like strict rules and stuff... well not really but just like how u have to do the body shot not wearing black, etc etc. haha...
