  • Used to have this on a 45! Believe it or not!

  • Thanks for the post, like everyone else on here this totally timewarps me back to the mid-eighties (when I was in junior high). Loved this track. About the same time I discovered Art of Noise, who I still spin occasionally today...

  • I used to have this on an old dance mix cassette from the old school compilation record company known as JCI, and this was one I could never get out of my head. I must have been 6 or 7 when I found that tape in the local drug store. I think I only paid something like 3 bucks for it, but it was one continuous dance mix and it was a great tape. I wish I still had it. I was only a baby when this song first came out, but as a kid this was a song that was perfect for jumping on the bed to. ^_^

  • OMG!!!! Thanbks for posting this joint on here. I was in the middle of the 7th grade at I.S. 74 in The Bronx when this came out. And Breakin' was getting ready to be out in the theaters durin g that time. Further more,I'm so glad I have this added to my vinyl collection.

  • all that scratchin' is makin' me itch

  • I got most of these om mp3 gotta love the old skool Whoop!!

  • bring back the old skool, real music.

  • Anybody know where i can Dowload this Song?

  • Does anyone know the source of the "out of control" vocal sample used in this?

    peace

  • @777Kwyjibo

Its on the Futuresock album, this song is a mass sample of the whole Album. Pure class idea!

  • I've listened to the entire Future Shock album and that vocal sample appears on no other tracks from that album. D St.'s megamix includes samples outside the tracks from the album, Wildstyle by Time Zone for example.

  • It's been YEARS since I heard this! I lost this disc years back after high school.

  • Whats the song from 4:41 ? Thanks!

  • @HUNHORV Time Zone "Wild Style" on Celluloid records

  • @Blacksungod I saw DST do that part of the mix live, when he was touring with Herbie Hancock in '83 - '84, I was 14. Great memories

  • A truely dope, freash, def, sick tune that still sounds as good today as the day it come out,Peace Geebeats.

  • So many good memories with this one. Way back in the day.

  • can't believe this jam is 26 years old already. Still sounds as fresh as it did the first day it came out in 83...

  • Just goes to show you that the Old School will always be better than the New School.

  • nice Mix

  • Bloody amazing. I was probably 12 or 13 years old the last time I heard this, I'm 37 now. Go DST! (For anyone that doesn't know why he's called DST: it's from Delaney Street. I think he was born on that street but I'm not sure).

  • good shit!!! aajjj

  • This record, along with "The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash And The Wheels of Steel," are the two records that made me want to be a DJ.

I can still remember the first time I heard this. Grabbed me right from the beginning, with the effect on the guitar stab at 0:12. And then the "Big Ben" chimes. Holy Sh*t!!!

  • i had this on vinyl too as a kid. (early 90's though im only 22) lmao but i rocked this shit daily.

  • Holy crap!

  • this sounds kinda like MF Doom or Madlib

  • lol i luv madlib and DOOM

  • i wish it would go on and on, like calgon...

  • THIS IS PREMIUM SHIT HERE!!!!

More songs should be made like this!

  • HERBIE HANCOCK FTW!!!!!!!!!

  • DST FTW!!!!!!!!!!

  • yessssss!

  • this brings back old memories I had this 12" back in the day ...83 or 84 when i was 12 years old ....

    HAHAHAA IM OLD

  • That is what makes us appreciate the old school my friend. We lived it and experienced it!We aint old...we are defined ;)

  • @N2OH THANK A LOT i am from Puerto Rico i haved this 12 ,hey do you have BURNING FOR ANOTHER SHOT ?? that songs was the answer to one more shot from c-bank by a male group named mc connection

  • @earthga Hahah!That's real!!

  • this is the right version..someone else uploaded some strange mix with the bboys in between, totally offbeat.

  • The Time Zone / Rock it break i love the most. Goddamn.

  • i found a cassette called heat and this is the second song on it, i think the tape is fairly rare

  • thanks for posting this incredible megamix, but is it possible for you to re-post it with a proper sound level modulation. the current one is totally over-modulated...thanks!

  • Thank u one of the greatest megamixes of all time i recorded this in 1984

  • Great track, but as the others said, PLEASE fix the audio and reupload.

  • Hmmm.. I got this one aswell, sweet mix of Hancocks stuff.

  • considering how like a third of the videos on YOUTUBE have shitty volumes levels??? i don't understand i just turned my boombox down.

anyway. found the jacket for this record at a thrift store yesterday and was super pissed it didn't have the record inside eventhough i have "Futureshock" on vinyl.

  • THAT SUCKS!! I know the feeling

  • Please turn it down and re-upload, it's clipping really bad!!!!!

  • Skunkus is right.

If you could repost at a lower recording level, that would be cool....

My favorite part is the scratch that goes

    "Ooooooooooh yaa-h-yaa-h-yaa-h-yaa-h-yaa!!!!

    yickiyicki-yah, yickiyicki-yah!!!

yicki yicki yicki yicki yicki yicki-yahhhh!!!!

    (At 1:38 and 5:26)

It blew my mind when I first heard it back in the day. Didn't think such a scratch was possible.

  • Hey DJRckwlI have just about everything from back then, would you like me to send you some tracks just as an old skool gift? Remember Planet detroit? Man Made? Galaxxy-Where's the beat? The Planet doesnt mind? This was my era starting in 1980, I was 13. the scene was exploding of great stuff.

If you have an old skool collection without these, you should have em. let me know, cheers.

  • Ooooooooooh yaa sample was from Shango, DXT mixed it up quite well, Mega mix 2 (Why Is it Fresh) was even better, he used about 1/4 of Wild Style by Time Zone

  • 'preciate the background info, intromix.

and i'll check out that megamix 2.

  • man this brings back memories! i had this. what the hell did i do with it.

  • Any way of re-posting this where the volume isnt so drowning? I love this cut.

  • the shit. i miss all my old records
