HELLO!!! so im naturally really dark almost black but IM A FULL BLONDE and when i look at my ends i dont really see split ends but my ends are like weird they seem dry and bend all sorts of ways i dont know if u know what im talkin about i dont wanna say their fried but maybe thats what it is i was wondering if u can help me kuz i really dont want to constantly get my hair my trimmed PLEASES AND THANK U'S!!!
@JeannyNonhTV Hi, your ends may be dry from coloring and styling. Please see my deep conditioning with olive oil video. I think you will find it helpful. It's a wonderful deep conditioner and repairs your ends. You will need to pay special attention to conditioning your hair shaft because when you strip your hair of color it is very prone to dryness. Trimming your hair does keep the ends healthy, but I understand you don't want to do it constantly. You can get great results conditioning well.
@raven202101 Hi, at the very end of one of your hairs sometimes you can see a small split or fork. That's a split end. Very often it may appear to be lighter in color than the rest of the hair shaft.
@thedisbatcher because you get unhealthy hair or split ends if u dont cut ur hair for too long. so if u want longer hair, there's no use of having long but unhealthy, dry hair.
@thedisbatcher if you have split ends, it breaks your hair off and it either looks really ugly so you need to cut it off or it breaks off your hair stunting the growth. by snipping off just the dead ends, you save the entire strand of hair from breaking off, thus, keeping it longer
Hi! Omg your hair is beautuful! Thank you so much! My hair is naturally dark brown & I have very tight curls! I Dyed my haiir blonde & I've had it blonde for about a year now.. Its very dry & m,y hair breaks about 2 inches long! My hair is up to my shoulders & I really don't want to cut it all off. Is there anything that could help my hair so it won't be so dry & break off? It also breaks off a lot from the inside of my hair :(
Hi, dying your hair can be damaging. It's so important that you condition well. Coloring your hair can dry it out so easily. I would suggest you use olive oil to deep condition it. You will really like it. Please see my video on how to do it. Unfortunately, at some point you may have to trim off all the dead ends and start fresh caring for your hair.
Hey ,, I Have frizzy and damaged hair naturally and very thick also ,, but my nightmare is my bangs they are awefull especially the roots . Any tips ?? Ty in advance :)
Hi, be sure you are conditioning your hair after each shampoo. You may want to apply an anti-frizz serum before styling. There are many of them on the market that really work great.
you are just so sweeet. i was wondering , do you think my hair will stil grow if i take really good care of it, dont wash my hair everyday and always use heat protectant if i still flat iron it?
Hi, of course it will. It will take time as hair grows only about 1/2 inch per month, but you can maximize that by eating healthy, getting enough sleep and treating your hair with proper care.
Hi, that can happen from wearing a ponytail, or having layers. You can have that area trimmed just to remove the split ends and eventually the hair will grow down to meet the longer hair. It may take a while, and in the meantime, be sure you condition after every shampoo to help keep hair moisturized to prevent split ends.
i tried to cut my own hair once, and i had to get it fixed because my mom said that the hair dressers have to use a specific kind of scissors or else it will CAUSE split ends. so if you use nail scissors is that as bad as using ordinary scissors?
Hi, nail scissors are fine for removing split ends. Your mom is right about trimming your hair with ordinary paper scissors. You need hair shears to trim hair.
i have split ends and just got a hair cut. i don't have alot but it bothers me! i mean i always have some kind, and then i get paronoid and think my hair looks bad. what should i do, i mean i cut it off but....???
Hi, if you have any layers, this can happen if you don't trim the layers too, or you may be too rough on your hair. Try to limit the heat styling and be sure you are conditioning after every shampoo.
too much is not made of split ends in reply to another comment. One split ends catches and tears other hairs until all your hair is catching and pulling and breaking all the time. I have thick coarse hair and thats the case with me. I really wish there was a beauty salon here in OKC that would use this strategy to trim my hair. I can't get to the breakage high up.
when you cut off the 'frizzy' end of your hair in the name of 'trimming the ends' you only end up exposing another end, only shorter. And that end, will eventually get frizzy too so you cut that end off and the cycle never ends. For women trying to grow length, the best advice is for them is better maintanence of their hair. This means keep excessive heat, chemical apps, blowdrying flat ironing to a bare minimum. Use morrocan oil to tame flyaway ends, keep it conditioned eat well, exercise.
I like how you said that there is no rule that says you have to cut your hair every six weeks a myth perpetuated by the hair care industry to keep clients coming back to generate revenue for themselves. I like that you said only go if 'you think you need it. I told my stylist to stop trimming my hair every 6 weeks and my hair is beautiful, full and healthy! I use morrocan oil on it and take care of it. My ends aren't split all the way up the hair shaft either (another stylist lie).
I am glad you made this video but personally I think too much is made of 'split ends'. When you cut an end off all you do is reveal another end that might split. Hair at the end is more fragile. Are split ends really the big baddie we make it out to be? Unless we're in a fashion show do we really care if our hair isn't 'even at the ends? I don't. I've found far too many hair stylist 'cut too much hair off in the name of 'trimming the ends'. I stopped having that done & my hair is fine.
Hi, trimming off split ends is important because if you don't, the split end can get bigger and continue to split even farther up the hair shaft. Eventually one part of the split end usually splits off and you are left with a thinner strand of hair. Sometimes the hair will break right off at the split end. Unfortunately, if you are trying to grow your hair, this makes it difficult because as your hair is growing from the top down, your ends are splitting off, so you never achieve length.
@YouTips4U My Aunt is a dermatologist who specializes in skin and scalp disorders she says that she has yet to see the absence of trimming hair ends will make it split all the way up the hair shaft. Split ends do not break evenly. Should your hair be split, most likely it will break and tear off to the side before it would split up the hair shaft and if your hair shaft is so badly damaged that it can split from end to end, trimming the ends will be of little significance anyway.
@YouTips4U My aunt says she deliberately does not trim her ends to prove that trimming has nothing to do with hair growth. It never has and it never will. She says occasionally, if her hair "looks" too uneven, she will have a trusted friend even it out' but that is only for appearance sake, not because she has split ends unraveling "like yarn" up her hair shaft. Her hair hangs to the middle of her back. She keeps brushing, heat and chemical processes to a bare minimum
I stopped getting my hair trimmed a year ago and it has been growing just fine. My stylist used to trim my hair every six weeks until I told her to STOP! Once she stopped my hair grew. If my hair was so unhealthy without getting trimmed, I wouldn't see any length in a years time. My hair grew from my ears to past my shoulders in 8 months. My stylist was maintaining a 'hair style, but I wanted to grow my hair out. She told me she needed to keep it trimmed I said NO more trims.
what about picking them? i have like an addiction to picking my slpit ends. i want to stop!! so badly! i don't want to cut all my hair and if i do i still have some. and i still will pick them. i need help!!!!
Hi, I don't recommend you pick them. I know it can be tempting when you don't have a scissor handy, but it's best not to. You need to make a clean cut above the split in order to prevent further splits in the future. By breaking them off, you leave the cuticle at the bottom jagged and this will lead to more split ends. Try your best to catch yourself as soon as you find yourself doing it, eventually you will hopefully stop.
I have split ends.. But whats important too is that the ends of my hair are not right... It's not easy to explain it... The ends of my hair are not straight, i can see some are like fold and some are going in the left or right way.... Can i do this trick too to make my hair ends straight?
Hi, you most definitely can use this method on your split ends, but if your hair is uneven, you may want to start off with a nice trim to even your hair out. Then you can maintain it in between trims by using my split ends removal technique yourself.
Hello, I'm 13 years old, i really thought i needed a haircut, so i just cut it myself, i just grabbed a pair of scissors and cut it off, it was even and all, but my mom told me AFTER i had cut it that if you use scissors that arent professional hair cutting scissors it could cause really bad split ends, i dont even know how to tell what a split end looks like, but im not sure if just snipping the split ends off is going to work for me now!! :( HELP MEEE anyone can answer
Hi, we've all done that at one time or another. Don't worry, you can always trim it again in a few weeks. Your mom is right you should always use a scissor designed for cutting hair as it does produce clean healthy ends. A split end looks like a small little "v" at the end of a hair strand. Sometimes it is lighter than your normal hair color and a bit thinner. You want to cut the strand of hair right above that little "v". If you have just cut your hair, you won't see any split ends yet.
@YouTips4U Thanks SO much for answering! :) my mom took me to get it trimmed by a proffessional, and i will never cut my hair again! unless i have the right kind of scissors, but even my hair dresser said that i did a really good job on cutting it, but i just didnt have the right scissors, from now on i am just going to take really good care of my hair!! and i have cuticle clippers, so if i ever see a split end i will just clip it off! :) thankyou so much! :)

Even if you used the wrong scissor, but you may see them quicker than you would have had you used a hair shears. The best thing to do is to be gentle with heat styling and be sure to condition your hair after each shampoo. This will help to prevent split ends from developing. If you notice any developing and you don't want to trim your hair yet, simply use the technique I show you in this video :o)
Hi, you cannot use this technique to trim your split ends when you hair is wet. It has to be dry and preferable not freshly washed because the condition you use after shampooing temporary mends the split ends. Wait a day or two after shampooing and then look for them. You will see them very easily. Great question!
I trim my split ends before combing my hair, when I'm bored, too anxious to read, and while using the computer. It's therapeutic. Unfortunately, I have thin, fine hair, so I always have alot to trim off.
Hi, I agree it is therapeutic. If you are looking for more volume for your fine hair, try blow drying your hair upside down and gently pulling the hair in an upward motion at the scalp.
Hi, layers are always tricky. Try your best to bring them up and over the top of your head. If they are really short, you may have to just have them professional trimmed to remove the dead ends.
Hi, you probably just need periodic trims to remove the ends. Ends will get thin and can split over time, even if you take really good care of your hair.
Hi, just ask for a dusting at the ends to remove only the split ends and none of your length. If you feel you need more of a trim after the summer, etc. then be sure you tell your hairdresser that you are trying to grow your hair and if she would only take off 1/2 inch. Ask if that would be sufficient to clean it up. Usually if your hair is healthy and not damaged due to styling or coloring, 1/2 is enough.
@YouTips4U so I shouldnt cut my hair until summer?
I used to cut it every month, even though I have healthy hair. So it didnt grow much.
I recently got it cut in January. So I should just cut the split ends myself until summer?
Also thank you for answering all my questions. I have had some issues with my hair due to being sick, and it just started getting better (over the last few years). thank you
How often you need a trim really depends on the condition of your hair. Try to extend the time between haircuts to 12-16 weeks, but only if you can. Take a look at the ends at around 12 weeks and if they look find wait a while longer. In the meantime, definitely cut them off yourself as I show you in the video. If you've had an illness, it is very common for your hair to reflect that. It will return to normal once you are better, but it can take time.
Hi, you should start out with a good trim to remove as much damage as you can, then start fresh taking really good care of your hair. Be sure you are using the correct shampoo for your hair type, i.e. shampoo for dry hair. Also, you'll want to select a conditioner for damaged hair and use it after each shampoo. I can recommend Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner' it's wonderful.. You shouldn't shampoo every day, but keep it at 3 times a week. Be gentle with styling,
@YouTips4U thank u so much, I will try out the conditioner and definitely get my hair trimmed and I also saw your video on using olive oil as a deep conditioner so i will do that as well =)
You're very welcome! You'll love the olive oil. I just did it today myself. It will leave your hair so soft and healthy looking; definitely do it at least 1-2 times a month. :o)
I just started doing this the other week to my split ends and now I'm addicted, everytime I sit down I grab my little scissors! Great videos and lovely hair!
i cut my hair regularly but it is very thin and it gets damaged so quickly! i keep it short (bob length) i use my fat iron only 2 or 3 times a week max and i condition and put heat productins in but it still gets very damaged! and i want to use that method that u r showing in ur video but my hair is just too short so i cant really see it... is there another way to to do that?
Hi, making a ponytail helps to see them really well, but unfortunately that probably won't help you either if your hair is too short. The only solution is to grow it a bit longer.
@YouTips4U I'm a guy and i'm trying to grow my hair. my hair is barely 2 inches long and i'm pretty sure i have split ends. I just want to know how do i fix it without have to like shave my head and how do i know were the split end starts. Also how do i make sure that i really have splint ends or that my hair is just naturally stubborn. p.s. i have wavy hair and if you can just give me some tips on how to avoid split ends. Please msg me on my email which is bryantd1993@gmail.com take a million!
Hi, you may not have split ends, but simply dry hair. Have someone check your ends for small splits where you can see one strand of hair has a small v at the bottom. That's a split. If you do have split ends, you should probably consider a trim and then start fresh taking gentle care of your hair. I recommend using a conditioner after each shampoo to help prevent them. Also, refrain from shampoo every day; can be too drying.
Hi thank you for your videos. I'm very attached to my long hair so I avoided cutting it for months. it got very damaged. I cut about an inch and it's still damaged. do you think I should cut off all of the damage (about three inches or so would be needed )or trim it in small ammounts every month until the damage is cut off?
Hi, because you have so much damage, you may want to consider cutting off more, enough to remove t he damaged ends, and start fresh caring for your hair better to avoid the damage returning. You will stop further damage but cutting it off. After that you can do periodic tiny trims to keep the ends healthy.
i have let my hair grow for a while and every time i let it grow long it always reaches at a certain point where i get split ends and i do everythin possible to try to avoid it, but it always get them. i even cut my split ends with your method cause i have no intention cutting my hair or getting it trimmed because my hair doesnt grow fast. i just dont know what other method to use.
oh my gosh i do this all the time! i have never heard of anyone else doing this. I do this well i am watching tv or listening to the radio. just became a fun habbit every once in a while. just snipping off one by one. I am like so happy i am not the only one!!! lol
Hi, the white tips are probably split ends, or the hair may have already split off which leaves a little white spot on the end where another one will form if you don't trim it.

oohhhhhemmmmgeeeeee thank you soooo much!!!! i just got my hair cut super short (it used to be to my waist, now its a bit above my shoulders) because i had really bad split ends (id never heard of heat protectant :/) and i still have to get it cut in about three months!!! well thanks again!!! <333
Hi, you will still get split ends, but they will be along the bottom more rather than higher up due to the layers. It really depends on how often you want to cut your hair and what style you like to wear. If you like having layers, then keep them, but you do need to trim them periodically.
OMG Thank You Soo Much I Been Doing That For the past 2 days bcuz 1 day i was bored so i started to look at my hair & i found thousand of split ends Thank You Soo Much I Thought I Was Doing Wrong By Cutting It Myself Thank You Oh & Its Okay If I Use A Regular Scissor?
Hi, a small scissor is preferable because you have much better control, but if you can manage doing it o.k. with the regular size scissor than you should be fine. With a larger scissor you run the risk of accidentally cutting other hairs.
Hi! My hair has SO much damage from straightening it every day, and it breaks off alot. I would snip it off like you said, but my hair is so uneven that it gets really thin at the bottom because some strands of my hair doesn't even go that long because its so broken.
Hi, I'm sorry to hear you're having such a problem with your hair. Straightening can be so damaging. Please do avoid straightening for a while to let your hair repair otherwise I'm afraid you will keep on damaging all your new growth. Be sure to condition after every shampoo and you would also benefit from a leave in conditioner as well. I do recommend getting frequent (every 6 weeks) trims to help remove all the dry damaged hair. Eventually your healthy hair will grow down.
My hair is in many layers cascades below my bra line...it's difficult for me to cut every single split end. I am trying to grow it even longer. Any tips!! I get a trim every 3 mnths due to my hairdresser's advise but a few weeks after a cut I am already seeing split ends! I follow your tips when shampooing/conditioning, I also use leave-in conditioner (Garnier) and spray from V05 leave-in daily. I do blow dry occasionally but staying away. I don't know what to do anymore :( HELP!
hi, uh, i hope you can understand what i am saying, but i am noticiing that i have like white dots on the ENDS of the hair, like its not ON the ends, but it IS the end of the hair strand, and im not sure if its a split end, i really wish u can help me out. also i tried looking it up on google, and ppl sayd that it means that my hair is either brittle or the scissors aren't sharp enough. i sharpened the scissors, andwhenever i cut the 'white dot' it's still there, and i dont think my hair is dry
Hi, these little white ends you see at the ends of your hair are split ends. Sometimes they have already split and you are only looking at one half. Nevertheless, snip it off to maintain your hair's health.
@YouTips4U Ohkay thank you, but i do cut it off, and when i cut it off, the white dot is still there. its like 'inside' my hair, and it wont go away, even when i cut it off :( I even sharpen my scissors, and it does the same thing...
i already do that, i use my scissors to snip every split end that i notice but doesn't this thin out your hair? i used to do it this a looot, and my hairdresser told me to stop cause i ruin my haircut and it thins out hair.So i stopped it 4 months ago.Is it true that my hair actually thins out by doing this?
Hi, I have two friends who have their haircut in New York City at a very well-known long-hair only salon and they use this same technique to remove split ends. As long as you are just removing splits and not more hair than that, you should not be thinning your hair. This is really meant to be done in between salon haircuts so that you can stretch your visits apart a bit and attain a bit more growth before having a trim.
Thats where a super great tips! Becouse when I go and trim my hair they cut of really much and it´s hard to get it long that way! So I´m really going to start doing this, couse I don´t want to trim my hair myself incase I mess it all up! My goal is to the hips, but it´s a bit left! Thanks for all your wonderful videos!
Hi, I do use heat, but not too much. Please take a look at my video on Blow Drying and Flat Ironing for my technique on how to prevent heat damage. I also talk about the products I use. i think you will find it helpful :o)
im sooo gonna try this!! i wanna grow my hair to like idk past my knees or sometthing so i can cut it a little past my bottom then donate the part i cut off to lots of love... but that will probably take a few years... lol
Hey! i know u are a huge fan of extra virgin olive oil, and i was wondering if u have ever tried coconut oil? it has all the same benefits, from what i have gathered, plus smells delicious! indian women swear by it, thats why they say they have long thick shiny hair. its also good for skin and nails and diet also..
Omg your such a sweet lady. Thank you so much for this tip I will use it from now on since I recently noticed a bunch of split ends. It's my first time getting them. Thanks. ;)
hi, i love all ur tips ur simply amazing thianks for all the tips, i have a question my hair is realy curly so i can't easily recognize the split ends easily , so what do u recommend?
Hi, do your best to spot them. Sometimes it helps to be in natural day light against a dark background like if you're wearing something dark. I'm so glad you like my videos :o)
Hi, I love Garnier Fructis Length and Strength Shampoo. The conditioner is great too. You can also try Neutrogena Daily Triple Moisture Conditioner; it's wonderful for damaged hair.
Hi, Love your hair ! (of course) So, i have a question , I´ve learn this trick pretty long time ago, but now ive seen your tip and u say that u only have to cut the one split right? i usually cut the hole split.. ? hope u understand what I mean ;)
Hi, usually hair forms a split end at the very bottom of the hair shaft, or a few centimeters above the end, so you really only have to snip off that little bottom split to have a healthy end again. Thanks for your comment :o)
Thank you, you're very kind. I think everyone can grow their hair long if they want to, but for some people it is much harder than for others due to their hair type. People with very baby fine thin hair have a harder time because their hair is very fragile and much more prone to breakage. For people with very fine stringy hair, wearing it shorter is more flattering for them.
I have hair past my shoulder blades.. its long, thick and healthy. I was afraid of losing my length due to the dry winter months.. but this saved it!! Thanks so much :)
Hi, that's probably a good estimate. Don't worry if you can't do them all in one sitting; just do them over a period of about 3 days or so (whenever you have time) and stop when you really can't find any anymore. Then your good for a while till your next session. That's what I do.
Do you have any tips for Hair fall? I stay in an area with hard water and its causing my hair to fall. Everytime i comb or run my hands in my hair i get 5 strands, i have long hair and dont want them to get thin :( :( Please help !
Hi, be sure you condition after you shampoo. Hard water can cause hair to feel very dry. You may want to try rinsing your hair with bottled water to help remove the shampoo. Hard water shouldn't cause you to lose hair excessively. It is normal to lose up to 100 hairs a day as there is always a portion of your hair entering the fall stage.
hi, if you have small little nail scissors or cuticle scissors they work best because they're small and easy to handle and you won't accidentally cut hair you don't want to. A barber scissor also works fine.
Thanks for the tip! Your hair looks great! I went to the hair dresser a few days ago... I paided $25 for a hair cut... Sometimes they used force to comb your hair and that breaks it!
Hi, I know what you mean about the rough combing. I have had that same experience as well; it can be upsetting when you try to take such good care of your hair.. Now I tell them to please be careful that I have a very sensitive scalp and they do respond by going easy on me :o).
WOW...i havent even thought of that...when i trim my hair i gotta go someplace to get it kut...didn't know you kould do it yourself...im gonna try that! kuz i want my hair to keep growing...also the ends are very dry so i gotta find a way to take care of that too..but thanks..!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! i am desperatley trying to grow out my hair and i have MAJOR split ends. How long does it take to grow it from a bit below the shoulders to boob length? I am going to go do this now! YOU R AMAZING! Thanks~
cuticle scissor, I haven't thought of that, thanks!

are those nail/cuticle scissors you're using to trim? do you regularly to turn them for the job?

@spellinto Hi, yes they are. I always use them because they are very easy to maneuver when you are only trimming off individual split ends.

Very often it may appear to be lighter in color than the rest of the hair shaft.

cutting your hair to make it grow longer doesn't make sense to me
thedisbatcher 1 month ago
@thedisbatcher because you get unhealthy hair or split ends if u dont cut ur hair for too long. so if u want longer hair, there's no use of having long but unhealthy, dry hair.
NailPolishTuts101 2 weeks ago
@thedisbatcher if you have split ends, it breaks your hair off and it either looks really ugly so you need to cut it off or it breaks off your hair stunting the growth. by snipping off just the dead ends, you save the entire strand of hair from breaking off, thus, keeping it longer

What do you do when you have split ends in the middle of your hair? Mine is halfway down my back and I have split ends all throughout it .
SUPERfreckleland 6 months ago
Hi, that can happen from wearing a ponytail, or having layers. You can have that area trimmed just to remove the split ends and eventually the hair will grow down to meet the longer hair. It may take a while, and in the meantime, be sure you condition after every shampoo to help keep hair moisturized to prevent split ends.

I did this the other day :) although I had a good few theres no need to cut off loads of length just for a few ends

how much do naile scissors cost? and can i use sewing scissors?

Hi, nail scissors cost about $5.00. You can use hair scissors if you have them. Sewing scissors are very large for this.

i tried to cut my own hair once, and i had to get it fixed because my mom said that the hair dressers have to use a specific kind of scissors or else it will CAUSE split ends. so if you use nail scissors is that as bad as using ordinary scissors?
bry252123 7 months ago in playlist makeup&hair
Hi, nail scissors are fine for removing split ends. Your mom is right about trimming your hair with ordinary paper scissors. You need hair shears to trim hair.

i have split ends and just got a hair cut. i don't have alot but it bothers me! i mean i always have some kind, and then i get paronoid and think my hair looks bad. what should i do, i mean i cut it off but....???
killianlovesme 7 months ago
Hi, if you have any layers, this can happen if you don't trim the layers too, or you may be too rough on your hair. Try to limit the heat styling and be sure you are conditioning after every shampoo.
YouTips4U 7 months ago
too much is not made of split ends in reply to another comment. One split ends catches and tears other hairs until all your hair is catching and pulling and breaking all the time. I have thick coarse hair and thats the case with me. I really wish there was a beauty salon here in OKC that would use this strategy to trim my hair. I can't get to the breakage high up.
53msme 7 months ago
when you cut off the 'frizzy' end of your hair in the name of 'trimming the ends' you only end up exposing another end, only shorter.

I stopped having that done & my hair is fine.
nancydrew5 8 months ago
Hi, trimming off split ends is important because if you don't, the split end can get bigger and continue to split even farther up the hair shaft. Eventually one part of the split end usually splits off and you are left with a thinner strand of hair. Sometimes the hair will break right off at the split end. Unfortunately, if you are trying to grow your hair, this makes it difficult because as your hair is growing from the top down, your ends are splitting off, so you never achieve length.
YouTips4U 8 months ago
@YouTips4U My Aunt is a dermatologist who specializes in skin and scalp disorders she says that she has yet to see the absence of trimming hair ends will make it split all the way up the hair shaft. Split ends do not break evenly. Should your hair be split, most likely it will break and tear off to the side before it would split up the hair shaft and if your hair shaft is so badly damaged that it can split from end to end, trimming the ends will be of little significance anyway.
nancydrew5 8 months ago

BurstingWithBeauty 8 months ago

Cindy12345ful 8 months ago

:( HELP MEEE anyone can answer
bry252123 9 months ago
Hi, we've all done that at one time or another. Don't worry, you can always trim it again in a few weeks. Your mom is right you should always use a scissor designed for cutting hair as it does produce clean healthy ends. A split end looks like a small little "v" at the end of a hair strand. Sometimes it is lighter than your normal hair color and a bit thinner. You want to cut the strand of hair right above that little "v". If you have just cut your hair, you won't see any split ends yet.
YouTips4U 9 months ago

If you notice any developing and you don't want to trim your hair yet, simply use the technique I show you in this video :o)

jadetaylor369 10 months ago
Hi, you cannot use this technique to trim your split ends when you hair is wet. It has to be dry and preferable not freshly washed because the condition you use after shampooing temporary mends the split ends. Wait a day or two after shampooing and then look for them. You will see them very easily. Great question!

I trim my split ends before combing my hair, when I'm bored, too anxious to read, and while using the computer. It's therapeutic. Unfortunately, I have thin, fine hair, so I always have alot to trim off.
INSANEinthuhMEMBRANE 10 months ago
Hi, I agree it is therapeutic. If you are looking for more volume for your fine hair, try blow drying your hair upside down and gently pulling the hair in an upward motion at the scalp.

so i dont style my hair with heat, or color it- I do nothing other than moisture treatments to it and keep it natural
I also put in different conditioners
yet I my tips still are slightly damaged
why is that :( becuase I have been trying to grow my hair out but have to keep getting it trimmed
Caram3lLov33 11 months ago
Hi, you probably just need periodic trims to remove the ends. Ends will get thin and can split over time, even if you take really good care of your hair.
YouTips4U 11 months ago
@YouTips4U okay thank you because I wanted to grow out my hair.
So should I just trim my hair like this every now and then. Also, how many times should I self trim- once a week? once a month?
Thank you for replying to my comment earlier!!! :)

YouTips4U 11 months ago
@YouTips4U wow thanks!
very very last question... PROMISE
if I keep cutting the ends wont I prevent it from growing?
Caram3lLov33 11 months ago
Hi, just ask for a dusting at the ends to remove only the split ends and none of your length. If you feel you need more of a trim after the summer, etc. then be sure you tell your hairdresser that you are trying to grow your hair and if she would only take off 1/2 inch. Ask if that would be sufficient to clean it up. Usually if your hair is healthy and not damaged due to styling or coloring, 1/2 is enough.
YouTips4U 11 months ago
@YouTips4U so I shouldnt cut my hair until summer?
I used to cut it every month, even though I have healthy hair. So it didnt grow much.
I recently got it cut in January. So I should just cut the split ends myself until summer?
Also thank you for answering all my questions. I have had some issues with my hair due to being sick, and it just started getting better (over the last few years). thank you
Caram3lLov33 11 months ago

Hi, making a ponytail helps to see them really well, but unfortunately that probably won't help you either if your hair is too short. The only solution is to grow it a bit longer.

FatSk8rkid 1 year ago
Hi, you may not have split ends, but simply dry hair. Have someone check your ends for small splits where you can see one strand of hair has a small v at the bottom. That's a split. If you do have split ends, you should probably consider a trim and then start fresh taking gentle care of your hair. I recommend using a conditioner after each shampoo to help prevent them. Also, refrain from shampoo every day; can be too drying.

Hi thank you for your videos. I'm very attached to my long hair so I avoided cutting it for months. it got very damaged. I cut about an inch and it's still damaged. do you think I should cut off all of the damage (about three inches or so would be needed )or trim it in small ammounts every month until the damage is cut off?
cuhaysee 1 year ago
Hi, because you have so much damage, you may want to consider cutting off more, enough to remove t he damaged ends, and start fresh caring for your hair better to avoid the damage returning. You will stop further damage but cutting it off. After that you can do periodic tiny trims to keep the ends healthy.

simin0508 1 year ago
Hi, you will still get split ends, but they will be along the bottom more rather than higher up due to the layers. It really depends on how often you want to cut your hair and what style you like to wear. If you like having layers, then keep them, but you do need to trim them periodically.

I would snip it off like you said, but my hair is so uneven that it gets really thin at the bottom because some strands of my hair doesn't even go that long because its so broken.
ox6feetunderthestars 1 year ago
Hi, I'm sorry to hear you're having such a problem with your hair. Straightening can be so damaging. Please do avoid straightening for a while to let your hair repair otherwise I'm afraid you will keep on damaging all your new growth. Be sure to condition after every shampoo and you would also benefit from a leave in conditioner as well. I do recommend getting frequent (every 6 weeks) trims to help remove all the dry damaged hair. Eventually your healthy hair will grow down.

ariadnenevermind 1 year ago
Hi, I have two friends who have their haircut in New York City at a very well-known long-hair only salon and they use this same technique to remove split ends. As long as you are just removing splits and not more hair than that, you should not be thinning your hair. This is really meant to be done in between salon haircuts so that you can stretch your visits apart a bit and attain a bit more growth before having a trim.

Hi, you have so long and pretty hair!
I just wanna know, if all types of hair can be long as yours? because some girls says that their hair can't grow any longer. is that true?
- can't wait to hear.

How often would you recommend cutting off the split ends by yourself for hair that is flat ironed at least once or twice a week?

What Type Of Scissors Should I Use Does It Matter i Mean Can I use Any Type Of Scissors And I Won't Mess It Up?
14boyslikegirls 1 year ago
hi, if you have small little nail scissors or cuticle scissors they work best because they're small and easy to handle and you won't accidentally cut hair you don't want to.
