  • no need for a traffic signal

  • I love this vid. I think this is possible because it's motorcycles. I've been to a large motorcycle event in the US where 10,000 cycles need to exit a large lot, and it goes much

like this, smoothly, and quickly. Cars take up so much space that it'd have taken three hours to get out of that lot, and it took 10 minutes with just bikes.

  • Wow! How is it possible.

  • Not as bad as it looks guys, they drive slowly.

  • Just a test!

  • damn 2005! old video!

  • Where is Lea Salongga?

  • I saw two scooters have an accident in Hanoi. The police officer yelled at both of them and since neither of them were injured and the scooters weren't badly damaged, more or less told them to drive away.

  • I've been there and I've never seen another place with traffic like HCMC. Traffic in China is a distant second.

  • they rehearsed this for 12 months to get it perfect

  • oh, now I understand why the vietnamese in california drive the way they do. lol

  • This is still one of the funniest ever youtube videos.

    thank you again.

  • I Like

  • the vietnamese people has went thru a 20 year war that didnt end but 36 years ago. hell yea we viets sum motherfucking savages. lol

  • fucking savages

  • Mi sa che era meglio in tempo di guerra

  • insane

  • They should have some cars like china.

  • @honolulu274

It's actually fun renting a motorbike in VN and doing some driving. I did it in Hanoi and Nha Trang. I wasn't brave enough to try the Saigon roads though. When you hear a bus or car honking a couple times you just edge to the right some. I never consider it in VN if they had the amount of cars on the roads that China now has, plus Chinese cops frown on foreigners just hopping onto a vehicle and driving around.

  • @honolulu274 They wouldn't fit on the roads... look how congested it is already

  • Why do they have no lines drawn on the street? motorcycles really are popular in vietnam. :D

I hate Mislang's comments against vietnam, we Filipinos are ashamed of her.

  • HCM = Hôn Cặc Mao

  • lol lvl over 9000 traffic jam on iphone XD

  • And people here in America think Asian drivers are bad, I'd like to see their ass try to drive around Saigon for 5 minutes without crapping their pants.

  • @choi4816 I did it on a motor bike. It's crazy for sure but not as bad as it looks here.Traffic moves pretty slow.To be honest I liked the freedom of lack of rules.

  • spent 2 weeks there in march, started in Saigon (4 million scooters), i was horrified by the congestion at first, but there's NO road rage, motorcycles flow smoothly like a river around all obstacles. i was scared to cross the road on foot the first time tho!!!! amazing what they carry on the back of the scooter - small children, double beds, portable generators, huge piles of vegetables. Vietnam itself is a total mind-fuck

  • No traffic accident! Fantastic

  • This is frightening.

  • wow this is cool to see and i missed vietnam been gone 25 yrs

  • they can only do it cuz there asains

  • Those are the same skills one would use to pilot a space craft through an asteroid belt.

  • Wow...Nobody stopping----they must all be driving toyotas

  • Wow! this is very good for me because I hate to stop at traffic lights.

  • 'ainda ninguém bateu'

isto é de loucos ahahahah !

  • 'ainda ninguém bateu'

isto é de loucos ahahahah !

  • doo mi mi !!!!

  • It looks like fun but if you're a pedestrian, good luck trying to cross the street.

  • even if it looks too confuse to some, but it works base on the system of tolerate and go along with the flow. my advise is slow down and ready to yield if you can, and we all can get along well.

  • We build it like a champ, you drive like a champ!

  • who said Asians cant drive :P

  • @m0nty55 asians might not be able to drive good, but they sure can build cars good.

  • BUhahahahahhahaa buaahahahahahahahhaahha abuaahahahahahahah aavauahuaaubaubaubaubauababua buahahahahha aiaiaiaiaiaiaiaiaiaiaiiaiaiaiaiaiaiaiaia buahhaahahahahhahahahha abuabaabuabuabuabaubaubaua baubaubau

  • I was a nervous wreck "at first" driving a motorbike in Siagon.I'm to use to way to many rules in the U.S. and as far as I could see in Vietnam when it comes to driving.Rules?! What rules?.....I liked it:-)

  • Well, even if Vietnamese are great drivers... well actually more on cautious driver, you wouldn't know that you might get into an accident. Don't you guys wear helmet? Here in the Philippines, it is strictly implemented that Motobike drivers MUST wear helmet so that AT LEAST your head, the most important part of your body besides your heart, is protected. it's scary to drive a motorbike because one hit can cause you more injuries than driving a car.

  • @benteunerz36 Yes, helmets are now required by law in Vietnam. It went into effect around December 2007 (after this video was made). It was fascinating to wake up one morning and suddenly see everyone go from helmet-less to helmeted overnight. (Or course, we were all given plenty of warning, so we all had purchased helmets well in advance.) In a western country, this would probably have to have been "phased-in" somehow, accompanied by lots of protests and defiance. Here, they all just did it.

  • @TroyOi Definatly the right thing to do and good to hear the public agreed.

  • @TroyOi Half the people still dont here helmets... after all it's only $5 and you're on your way

  • @nneuhaus84 Nah, it's not that bad. Just the occasional defiant teenagers. The police are pretty aggressive ticketers & for most people getting caught means a pretty big chunk of change being handed over.

Now what's really dumb is that helmets are required for adults, but not for children. So it's not uncommon to see, say, a family of four on a motorbike, with mom & dad helmeted, but the two little tykes going without. (Guess it's one way of addressing the fast-growing population boom.)

  • @TroyOi Not really man, all you have to give the cops is D 100,000 = $5... not that big of a chunk of change. They call it coffee money lol and even if the police are aggressive it doesn't matter because there are like 5000 bikes for every one cop. That is true about the helmet thing tho... ironic

Reference ME, i live here in saigon

  • who said that asians cant drive? strictly skillz rite there boy!!!

  • Thats unreal. The people there drive 10X better than the people in VA. Not one crash in three minutes with all that traffic.

  • wtf how do they not all crash and burn

  • If you want to be trained for good driving skills and fast reaction , go there , you stupid Canadians . Just think that you are good drivers , huh ? . Dare you race in this kind of traffic ! .

  • Sorry for those nice and patient Canadian drivers . Many of you are very aggressive on the streets , those are very stupid drivers .

  • Vietnamese people are the best divers in the world here is the prove

  • pero k koño¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • haha us vietnamese soo damn gangstar that we dont need no damn fuckin traffic light to tell us to fuckin stop or go.hah we epickk like that beetcheess

  • @aznprobie calm down buddy, they do have traffic lights... and stop signs... and police... and jails... same shit as america just with a more densely populated... and you can pay off the cops

  • @nneuhaus84 LOOOOOOOOOL. I know, the Vietnamese's government is corrupted. I don't know how the hell that comment got there, I think it was my cousin or something o.o . Sorry for sounding like a complete moron.

  • If only traffic were this efficient in America.

  • Are you F!kidding me? There's plenty of efficiency in America compared to this.

  • 1:03 cool !

  • tinha de ser um tuga a por isto na net!!

    parecem formigas...

  • a lawless society ruled by corrupt, murderous bastardic commies!

  • @CuMaoVaoMiengHo Your 100x more likely to get murdered in America... Just saying

  • damn good that there isnit a traffic incident. if this was going on turkey haha 50 cars accident

  • this place is bullocks, fuckin asians on mo-peds everwhere, left after 2 days

  • Ruff Ryders in Saigon :))) cooll

  • Dam, and they say asians cant drive.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheJomogogo now they are called yellow dogs (cho vang) lol

  • This works without traffic light because everyone is going at like 5 mph plus a motorbike can stop or change direction on a dime.

  • @youtoobization wrong, there are traffic lights everywhere in Vietnam. And although you can change direction on a dime, you never can be too sure what direction the other guys going to turn so it's not that simple. 5mph or not with barely any room to put your foot down if your inexperienced you might not make it... lol

  • it's called organised chaos.

  • No traffic lights works over there just fine. You can die of old age in amerikwa waiting for a light to change. Vietnamese are the best drivers in the world. Just have a look, no road rage, no accidents, and they are smart enough not to sit there waiting for a light to rule their lives.

  • @impetiousdoom Really? when i was in Vietnam i had never seen so many people dead on the side of the road before... I love veitnam but don't act like for a second that driving there isn't 1000x more dangerous than in america.

  • this is why asians are such shit drivers!

    LOL FUCK TRAFFIC LIGHTS NIGGA

  • @CrimsonGreaver this is only viet. In places like china there is more cars.

  • LMAOOO now I know where it comes from

  • Prosperity only exists in big cities in Vietnam like Hanoi and Saigon, but 80% of Vietnamese population live in poor, underdeveloped rural areas. While corrupt communist leaders like Prime minister Nguyen tan Dung and President Nguyen minh Triet are multi-billionaires, a regular Vietnamese earns only $1 per day. More than 200,000 Vietnamese women from poor families, many as young as ten, are working as prostitutes and sex slaves in China, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Korea.

  • Seems to work fine. Worldwide ban. NO MORE TRAFFIC LIGHTS!!! Ha haaaa!

  • @rabbitshirt actually there are traffic lights :D

  • @rabbitshirt actually there are traffic lights :D

  • what a mess! and i thought the trafiic here in colombia was bad!

  • khung khiep , No accident !!!!

  • Holy Crap!!!!!

Đảng trị gian ác mãi quay lưng

Với nổi khổ đau của người dân

Tội Đảng tầy trời đã hũy diệt

Dân chết ba triệu Đảng ngu đần

  • OMG that was a big motorcycle gang jajajaja

  • deadly/serious accidents per km travelled are WAY higher there than in a country with normal traffic. also they don't (can't) care about little bumps and scratches on their vehicles. and the average travelling time is also multiple times what someone from a western civilization would expect. Just because nobody dies in this 3 minute segment in this specific intersection doesn't mean it's all safe and great...

  • @MaQen1 Agreed on the safety aspect but as far as the time, as long as its not between 5pm-7pm the average traveling time is not longer, it's faster. Speed restrictions are rarely enforced... and they are only a $5 "ticket" anyway...

  • nothing is impossible!!!

  • looks like kaos to westerners, but this is normal in Vietnam. if you walk accross the street, they will avoid you. I love this place. It's always alive with activities.

  • I'm pretty sure using a mobile while driving over there is out of the question...

  • @WaiSech haha you would think... until you see a family of 5 on one motor bike with lots of bags and the driver talking on the cell phone driving with one hand in this kind of traffic... this is normal in VN

  • the best thing is if want to cross this street

  • I would go crazy in that place

  • its a peace rides and no accident ha!

  • That is stunning. I keep waiting for an accident but it all works out. They move like schools of fish under water.

  • alot better than india

  • saigon, love the place i was born and raised for 19 years.when will i come home? gosh

  • i bet you were afraid to cross the street. i now i would be. lol

  • vietnam my hometown (L)

  • @N0GGII Vietnam is a country... not a city (town)... just saying (thanh pho)

  • that would NOT work here in muncie, ind. there'd be soo many idiots wrecking, the cops couldnt handle it all

  • These people have better reflexes than most americans.....

  • Thats pretty much why we Vietnamesians don't have many cars around. Most of the SUVs are taxi cabs.

  • @Nikki160Sims No it's because there is an import tax of 100% on all cars so it makes it nearly $50,000 to buy a Honda... It's cause of the cost not the amount of traffic...

  • LMAO

traffic lights are not very common

you can only find them like either a few miles or the end of the block

  • They should invest in some traffic lights. They're fairly new inventions but work really well!

  • The first few days I was there, I was in fear for my life...But after a week u get kinda use to it...But I would never be able to ride a motor bike in Saigon...

  • im used to it lol. i just travelled to vietnam for vacation. right now im in go chi minh city..and im going to nha trang soon.

    i love this lively city!

  • once you're used to the traffic, its a piece of cake, you won't even know it, but that just how you would cross lol

  • DUDE! That is seriously crazy! Are there usually no lights? Looks exciting and vibrant, that is why I love living in Asia! Peace and love to All!

    Taebaek

  • ich war 1984 ein tag in saigon

  • I swear i'm still not use to Saigon traffic.I'm still surprised to this day how I am still able to get anywhere in that chaotic mess ^_^

  • i think i aw a nippleslip at 2:40

  • reminds me of cambodia

  • Just to remind you all, Saigon is just a few tens square km and the population is way over 10mil (yes millions). That 's y this small city will never stop nor sleep, coz if you do stop and wait for your turn, then you will never get to anywhere.

  • Wow no helmet required!!

  • I have just returned from a week's holiday in Saigon. This video is not exaggerated. I spent some time on the back of a friend's motor bike and just about lived to tell the tale. And as for pedestrians...

  • soo dangerous but it's funny =)

  • i think i saw waldo!!!!!

  • I am an American living in Saigon and this is normal everyday traffic here. It took me a little while to get used to it. I still get very stressed out in this madness sometimes. There are absolutly no rules. Anything goes. If you drove like this in america you would get arrested.

  • @bkbbowling Not sure where you got that idea... there are no rules. (1) as a foreigner you are treated differently, cops don't bother you as much so maybe it seems that way, (2) it's more of the reason that there are not enough cops to enforce the rules, and (3) if you break the law over there (and cannot pay off the cop) they will take your bike for a month even just for speeding...

  • we asians drive defensively that's why this system works... it's chaotic fun !!!

  • is godzilla attacking the city ?!?

  • does anyone know the name of the song in this video?

  • Comment removed

  • oh i'm 18 years old Vietnamese and this is very normal for Vietnamese ppl. Crossing the street is very easy u know :))

  • Man I hate crossing the streets

    each time

    I feel like imma die

    But thenn they somehow

    avoid

    and weave through me O_O"

People say to just keep walking and dont like stop and shit cause then you confuse the drivers and then they do hit you D:

  • it look like people driving crazy... but it really eazy and they know where they going... it not just driving with your eyes.. they use their ear too.. that y its very lound in the city...

  • holy cow.

  • Must be a lot of deaths due to traffic Ehh?

  • This is sheer madness!!! how the hell?? but it's awesome!!!

  • Thank you for posting this video. They are obviously very skilled drivers. I bet most people in Canada cannot drive in this kind of traffic condition.

  • Omg! I was on motorbike in one of these streets on holiday! it is scary! I thought my dad was gonna crash!!!

  • they dont crash, cuz they no wat they're doing!! since im viet, i never saw that much pplz in motorcycles or bikes!!

  • BACK TO SAIGON ..........

  • I love this! x3 And many places like this have lower accident rates than the US because without traffic laws, lights, and lines on the road people actually have to pay attention to where they're going. When we rely on lights and lines to tell us what to do we often don't always pay attention and accidents occur. u.u

  • @LukkyLette23 Um nice try... but no f'ing way do many places like vietnam have lower accident rates. (1) its a third world country, you think their 90% police corruption rate and no insurance (as in the way the USA has) doesn't dramatically affect the the reporting of such stats?? (2) When i was there over a 8 month period i saw more people dead on the side of the road then i have in 28 years of living in the USA. Stop talking out your ass

  • @nneuhaus84

Total traffic fatalities in the US for 2004: 42,836

Total traffic fatalities for Vietnam for 2004: Just over 10,000....

This is according to the NHTSA website, and talk.onevietnam.

And I don't see the point in responding to comments made last year anyway. =/

  • wow crapidiot! why so harsh? I mean being Asian YOURSELF, you shouldn't even try...yr a joke to the non-asian. I don't go around posting replies to your videos calling you chink! yr nick matches your personality perfectly.

  • Name of the song ?? :D

  • This is The Heaven on earth of Stupid Communist HO CHI MINH after what they called the Spring Great Victory on April 30,1975??

  • were not use to that idea

simply.. because if someone isnt at full acceleration in this country.. as soon as it turns green.. people slam the horn.. like theyre going somewhere important.. but places like this.. you can tell.. they actualy know what they are doing

  • OMG!

  • When they get cars this becomes Bangkok, bad idea, gridlock.

  • ima tell u sumthing

1st-there are "NO" rules for traffic. People just stops at red light if there are cops or danger, if there isnt...then they go. Green and yellows means the same to us. or yellow = go faster u dont want to get stuck! lol

2nd-Crossing doesnt work in Vietnam, they think its dere for fun. i saw heaps of white guys trying to cross the road in vietnam, uhm..felt sorry for them.!

3rd-what ur seeing is normal!!! not even rush hour. When its rush hour, 2 way street become a one way.

  • OMG, What intense and interesting traffic:)) i didn't seen something like this

  • No accident?!

  • It looks crazy but... ff there'd been traffic lights on this intersection I'm sure the capacity would fall drastically and it'd be jammed immediately

  • x__X i been there a few times , its crowded throughout the day x__X idk about during the night D:

  • i saw quite a few nasty accidents whilst there, but over all the madness seems to work.. until they can afford cars!

  • yeah thats life

  • Where do all these folks go to pee when the need arises??

  • toilet...

  • how often is it this crowded? is this common or happen at a certain time of day?

  • it s all day long, even at night. they bike whenever they can

  • everytime

  • round the clock, traffic is like this in Saigon. so whoever billed new york as the city that never sleeps obviously hasn't been to saigon. this city's energy is clearly seen by day, then intensifies more so by night, then after 2 or 3am, in the late dark hours just when you think it should die down & run out of steam, Saigon's relentless energy resurfaces revvin' up for a new day. I discovered this once sitting on my hotel balcony w/ a beer @3am waiting for a quiet moment that never came.

  • love it there. its so lively in vietnamese cities.

  • @lassley you probably didn't venture out much further than pham ngu lao street by that response... sorry to tell you but saigon is only like this during the hours of 4:00pm-7:00pm.... rush hour. most places passed 12:00 are pretty quiet

  • Bangkok and Phnom Penh are like this as well.I like it.Like a controlled insanity.
