On the very last chord Tommy plays with the reverse rake, does anyone else hear the guitar "exhale" seemingly? Now many of us ohh and ahh at his playing, but it takes a very bad man to make the guitar actually do that...I'm just sayin..

Yes we know Tommy E is very good but to my taste he lacks soul. There seems to be way too much exhibitionism, stacks of unnecessary notes, flashy arpeggios etc etc. Phil, his brother, always managed to get to me at their live gigs.

Of course this is only my opinion based on my perception alone and I may be right off the mark. I do like his percussion/digital delay stuff he does on his acoustic .

@frombaerum it was a freezing cold night and tommy and andy had trouble with tuning that night - the hall was really hot and de-tuning 3 steps for amazing grace didnt help - cold to hot plays havoc - he also does a quick tune up at 1.05 - but the performance was one of tommys greatest - dont think he was in the best of health either

@kytim2 tommy uses a crap load of different strings. Everly, martin, d'addario... the list goes on. He says he likes changing brands so his guitars dont get used to the same string over and over again. I honestly cant tell the differnce but Tommy knows whats best!

This year i already saw him 18.3. in Basel, Switzerland for the first time and it was the best concert of my life (i have been to quite a lot of concerts!). He´s the only one who´s really interested in his audience and doesn´t play "just for money and fame". He´s not only the best guitarist alive but also the best entertainer. God bless Tommy!

At a certain point it doesnt make sense to use that word, let´s just say they´re playing different styles. How can you compare Santana or BB King to Tommy?

Let me put it this way: He´s the most complete player ever. He could easily play lead guitar in a Death Metal band as well as classical guitar in a jazz band. In his command of the instrument, he is the best in the world.

@atomant103196 I think you mean Roni Benise. And he is certainly not better than Tommy. The same can be said said about Santana and BB King. While I consider both of them great pioneers in they're respectful music styles, I don't regard either of them technically gifted compared to guitarists such as Guthrie Govan for example. Santana's playing lacks sophistication as evidenced by the video in which he jams with George Benson further demonstrating that he can't play jazz.
