I see why there is a lot of hate. Im Australian and i did encounter a fair few dickhead westerners. But they are prevelant back home as well. Its hard to avoid them. Within saying that i met a huge amount of really fantastic people who wernt just loud mouths. If you go, please be tame and respect the culture.

I know coz i lived in vang vieng for 3 years working behind a bar and i asked plenty of locals and most didn't mind they were makin a killin workin and runnin a bar instead of slaving away on a field for 12 to 13 hours a day!!! Get off ya fuckin high horses..... Plus the country side is amazing and they're very friendly people!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey I couldn't agree more about your top comment, after 7 weeks traveling around SE Asia I have to say generally the most loud and obnoxious people I met were definitely the Australians and English (I am from Australia) & I much preferred meeting and traveling with people from other countries.

when i see this i really dont want to do this. where is the culture? My favourite place is south east asia and i travelled there for a long time. i really hate all the people who are coming to asia just to have party with drugs, alcohol and what ever. asia is a lot more! I completely agree, which is why Im refusing to go to Thailand... but I know loads of people who have gone and not exploited their land and women, that's just a huge generalization, and most of the people say they wouldn't go back because they were sickened by the amount of prostitutes aged 13 plus. Also, most people dont fuck prostitutes, but even if we did, arent the governments not partly to blame for being too passive in dealing with it?
