  • i guess i didnt pay enough attention to your math- still horrible though

  • @SuperBirdsofafeather It's an insane amount of oil, and to me the scary part is that we're all getting used to it. It's just pumping away on the ocean floor, pumping away, pumping away. Human outrage grows weary.

  • Montana is 147,046 square miles. Basically, a spot the size of Montana is contaminated every day. Horrifying.

  • @SuperBirdsofafeather Actually, there are about 28,000,000 sq. ft. in one square mile. That means the BP spill could cover about 32 square miles per day, which is roughly the size of Manhattan.

  • Volume man. Volume! Not area! If you take the volume it's well, just as bad. The oil leaked every day, at 2 million barrels a day can fill 3 olympic size pools a day. 50 days would bring it to 150 olympic size pools worth of oil. Something is wrong with this story. The doesn't seem nearly enough to contaminate 1/3 of the gulf, does it?

  • Damn... a tragedy of epic proportions
