It is still somewhat creepy, even today. However that's got to be most inappropriate music for a horror movie. It's almost as if musician was trying to lighten up the mood. :D

As I have never seen it before i'm pleasantly surprised. Given the appropriate music this could be way more creepier. I also think that lack of any sound besides music makes it creepier.

No es sólo una maravilla del expresionismo alemán, es además la mayor obra del cine mudo y del cine como tal, una película con mayúsculas, que pese a su tiempo sigue maravillando a unos y a otros.

La caracterización de Max Schreck es sublime, y el brillante manejo de las sombras y los claroscuros es realmente asombroso. No hay ninguna obra de vampiros que le llegue a la suela del zapato a Nosferatu.

A mi también me impresiono esta pelicula la primera vez que la ví. Murnau iba a titularla Drácula, pero tuvo problemas con los herederos se Storker. Aunque parezca mentira, hace 90 años ya había problemas de copyright

@cineaccion3 De hecho, una hermana de Stoker le demandó por vulnerar los derechos de autor, y Murnau perdió el pleito. La obra llegó a nosotros casi milagrosamente, ya que se hicieron desaparecer todas, salvo unas pocas que quedaron por ahí escondidas.

Te recomiendo "the suicide club" es pelicula japonesa escenas gore pero con un gran guion.

Junto a Metropolis,la mejor pelicula de la escuela expresionista.

El conde Orlok,Nosferatu para los no iniciados,es de real importancia en el mito moderno del vampiro.El simboliza al vampiro monstruo,nada es seductor en el.Lo ejemplifico asi..Nosferatu=vampiro monstruo,Dracula=Vampiro seductor,Lestat=Heredero maximo de Dracula.

Yo tambien vi la version hablada.Gran pelicula,si,pero otro estilo,no se pueden hacer conparaciones entre tecnicas tan diferentes.

coincido contigo, El Gabinete del Dr Caligari es la que abre las puertas, El estudiante de Praga no la vi (se puede decir que soy una principiante sniff sniff),pero por ejemple El Golem seria expresionismo?? porque para mi aunque Metropolis sea una pelicula de ficcion tambien se le puede incluir dentro del expresionismo,sobretodo si vemos los decorados; ya en Nosferatu se utilizaron paisajes naturales.

@melaniasirotich El expresionismo por lo comun trata los generos del terror y la ciencia ficcion.Si, Der golem, las tres versiones, es una historia expresionista al cien por ciento. Es de terror y con un fuerte toque ario, algo muy tipico de este tipo de cine. No hay q olvidar que en el desenlace, un niño ario (una pequeña Alemania) derrota al golem (el ´´monstruoso´´ judio)....Te recomiendo todo el cine de Fritz Lang en su etapa alemana y lo mismo con Murnau, los mas grandes del estilo.

pretty cool, I have only seen the 1979 version and that scene when it's midnight and kinski comes into the room to suck jonathans blood and at first he just stands still in the doorway staring at him with his long fingernails pointing down, that's probably one of the coolest scenes I've ever seen... in this clip we see where that scene comes from as the rest of that 79 remake... cool

Nosferatu is a much greater horror film monster then any of the modern day horror film monsters, purley because he acts in a non voilent manner and prefers to slowly approach a victim.

It's also because writers back then understood how to create tension, and understood the meaning of a good premis.

You're right, and it has already been done. Werner Herzog (I think!) made a remake (1979) , and boy was it good! The remarkable Isabelle Ajani was Mina, and full-lipped Klaus Kinski (who always looked mad, anyway) was Orlock. They mirrored this film SCENE BY SCENE, and it was remarkable. See it! There are cuts of it here on youtube. As for another remake, who knows> I think it very much depends on your new Orlock. Can he top Max Shrek or Klaus Kinski? Few men could.
