Kyle should have been on Child's Play 3. Of all the Child's Play franchise, that one was the worst! The only thing I liked about it was when they were at the carnival. They removed all the original cast even Andy (and I mean Alex Vincent), which I think was one of the reasons why it suffered bad.

And another, I don't get how people don't really like Child's Play 2 that much. Though the first movie was exceptionally brilliant and terrifying, I think these two should be likewise. I don't get this. If Andy's mom was taken away for saying Chucky was alive, then wouldn't the Sheriff and Deputy From Child's Play 1 be taken away also..? & there was also Chucky's burnt body left, as evidence...

As for the body, what does a burnt doll prove? I could burn one of my daughters dolls and it wouldn't prove it was alive.
The toy factory themselves did extensive testing on the dolls body once it was recovered and said they found nothing wrong with the wires, voice cassette etc.

@honeegrrl the original ending is when kyle shoves the airhose in his mouth and his head explodes and her and andy walk off and the credits start. this was the alternate one with more stuff after hes killed that wasnt used. they shouldve used this one in theatres imo

Jennifer Tilly is in the way, this new kid name Glen is in the way, now Hollywood is putting him on camera just to humiliate him in front of everyone. @lachproductions101 Obviously he want back to being a foster child but since he was "troubled" he ended up getting sent there to get straight. But don't try to analyze the series too deeply, this is of course a horror series where part 3 had the most rushed script in history and they could have made Andy a circus freak if they wanted without really having to explain anything.

You can only feel bad for Andy's mom after she lost custody of him because the cops who were supposed to help her chickened out. Then apparently she was sent to an insane asylum? And Bride of Chucky never explains anything more about Andy, all the characters are never heard of again.

I agree, this ending is less abrupt. Plus it was the only ending I knew for years. One day, I saw the 'normal' ending, in which the credits roll after Andy and Kyle leave the factory on some other channel and I thought,
this 'can't' be right. It only seems appropriate for Chucky to be reborn, just before the credits roll.
And a "complete" Chucky, rather than just his head rebuilt, would have been even better to end the film

This ending is much better, a lot less abrupt. After Chucky's ordeal(exploding head!), I thought him being resurrected before the end credits roll was a more appropriate conclusion. I'm surprised the revived head doesn't say"I ain't dead yet!".

I don't know about US, but here in Spain the ending showed on TV didn't include the last scene where the doll's head is made up, I've only seen a similar scene at the begining of Child's Play 3. Thanks for the video :) I love this movie since I was a teenager!
The next step would have been Chucky dolls menacing families all over the country. It would've been pretty hilarious and a way to top his previous efforts. In the end child's PLay 3 suffered the same fate of another threequel, Alien 3 just one year prior. I think Don Mancini should've fought for his idea of having an army of Chucky dolls. That was his intention all along. If you go back to his interviews on Child's play and how he wrote it as a very dark satire on marketing, you clearly see it in the beginning of both child's play 2 & 3. The complete disregard of ethics concerning the marketing of the good guy doll after the tragic murders of so many people.
@DimeraFan28 No, the theatrical ending was quite different. In that version, Andy and Kyle briefly exchange words and walk away from the factory--then the credits roll and the scene fades to black. Many syndicated movies on network TV did things like this. I remember seeing "Night of the Creeps" on USA one time, and it ended with the zombie dog going into a cemetery just as a space ship flies overhead.

I was big fan of the childs play movies 1-3 growing up and I remember when I rented this movie it had this ending. Then when I rented it again from a different video store it didnt have this evening. The only thing you see is Kyle and Andy walking out the factory and while they are walking you see a sky camera on them and thats when andy says "where are we going" kyle: "I have no idea" and the credits roll.
So then if my dvd and vhs are bootleg, who ever claims this alternate ending copied my bootleg and remade it then showed it on television, because i had my copy since 1991 when it first came out on vhs with this ending, so please explain.
@Impalaalex I will assure you that this alternate ending isn't on any of the Child's Play 2 DVDs I have ever seen.Trust me, I have been checking up on everything child's play 2 since 2002.Now I'm not sure about a bootleg VHS because I think that they have a few alternate scenes.The only way that I know for sure to find Alternate scenes from the film would be to watch the T.V. versions such as SciFi or TNT from the late 90s.

you know, oddly, I just happened to watch this a week ago on DVD. The DVD has them walking away together in the wide shot with the sign of Chucky waving. The dialogue we see the two having ("Where are we going?" "I have not idea") is cut over that shot.
But, I also do remember seeing the smile. Was this the opening of CH3 maybe? Or, I guess its possible I saw it when it aired on TV. Maybe the TV edit had a different ending.
Yes this is the 1st time I see this. I've always seen the "original" ending, where nothing special is happening. Here it's a way to announce the 3rd movie. But actually there is no sense. The 3rd movie starts showing Chucky's blood falling in plastic, so the moment he relives and not with a piece of his face as here. Producers had better to make the "original" ending the official one. Nobody could really expect for Chucky's rebirth ... but we all knew he was going to be back lol ^^
I guess you don't take criticism well, but for one they barely show alternate endings to movies on cable T.V. the only channel I know that does that is F.X. and no none of my DVD's are bootleg, it's the actual DVD that has extras I bought them brand new from Blockbuster video. But don't try to analyze the series too deeply, this is of course a horror series where part 3 had the most rushed script in history and they could have made Andy a circus freak if they wanted without really having to explain anything.

You can only feel bad for Andy's mom after she lost custody of him because the cops who were supposed to help her chickened out. Then apparently she was sent to an insane asylum? For protecting her kid? Crappy ending for her. Then this alleged older sister, apparently isn't heard of again? And Bride of Chucky never explains anything more about Andy, all the characters are never heard of again.

@MyidolGwen What i meant (based on what i've read) was that the executives of Universal Pictures where talking about a franchise for Chucky with one more film, but the idea was brought like a month before CHILD'S PLAY 2 was released even though it was an idea it was not a script yet not a decision either just an idea, so when Chucky's first sequel became a hit in the US and after some talks they greenlit the filming of the 3rd installment a few months after ( Early 1991) to be released in '91.

@234689ify Bride of Chucky was made 'till 1998, and if a remake happens it would be only of the first movie, Child's Play 2 really doesn't needs a remake since the movie was made in the era when hollywood was giving artistic freedom to directors incluiding horror movie directors, then in the 90s some hollywood studios incluiding Universal started to mess with their movies director choices and style of filmmaking telling them what to do and all, so, i prefer this movies to be left alone :)

I agree, this ending is less abrupt. Plus it was the only ending I knew for years. One day, I saw the 'normal' ending, in which the credits roll after Andy and Kyle leave the factory on some other channel and I thought,
this 'can't' be right. It only seems appropriate for Chucky to be reborn, just before the credits roll.
And a "complete" Chucky, rather than just his head rebuilt, would have been even better to end the film

This ending is much better, a lot less abrupt. After Chucky's ordeal(exploding head!), I thought him being resurrected before the end credits roll was a more appropriate conclusion. I'm surprised the revived head doesn't say"I ain't dead yet!".

I don't know about US, but here in Spain the ending showed on TV didn't include the last scene where the doll's head is made up, I've only seen a similar scene at the begining of Child's Play 3. Thanks for the video :) I love this movie since I was a teenager!

The next step would have been Chucky dolls menacing families all over the country. It would've been pretty hilarious and a way to top his previous efforts. In the end child's PLay 3 suffered the same fate of another threequel, Alien 3 just one year prior. I think Don Mancini should've fought for his idea of having an army of Chucky dolls. That was his intention all along. If you go back to his interviews on Child's play and how he wrote it as a very dark satire on marketing, you clearly see it in the beginning of both child's play 2 & 3. The complete disregard of ethics concerning the marketing of the good guy doll after the tragic murders of so many people.

@DimeraFan28 No, the theatrical ending was quite different. In that version, Andy and Kyle briefly exchange words and walk away from the factory--then the credits roll and the scene fades to black. Many syndicated movies on network TV did things like this. I remember seeing "Night of the Creeps" on USA one time, and it ended with the zombie dog going into a cemetery just as a space ship flies overhead.

I was big fan of the childs play movies 1-3 growing up and I remember when I rented this movie it had this ending. Then when I rented it again from a different video store it didnt have this evening. The only thing you see is Kyle and Andy walking out the factory and while they are walking you see a sky camera on them and thats when andy says "where are we going" kyle: "I have no idea" and the credits roll.

@Impalaalex I will assure you that this alternate ending isn't on any of the Child's Play 2 DVDs I have ever seen.Trust me, I have been checking up on everything child's play 2 since 2002.Now I'm not sure about a bootleg VHS because I think that they have a few alternate scenes.The only way that I know for sure to find Alternate scenes from the film would be to watch the T.V. versions such as SciFi or TNT from the late 90s.

you know, oddly, I just happened to watch this a week ago on DVD. The DVD has them walking away together in the wide shot with the sign of Chucky waving. The dialogue we see the two having ("Where are we going?" "I have not idea") is cut over that shot.
But, I also do remember seeing the smile. Was this the opening of CH3 maybe? Or, I guess its possible I saw it when it aired on TV. Maybe the TV edit had a different ending.

Yes this is the 1st time I see this. I've always seen the "original" ending, where nothing special is happening. Here it's a way to announce the 3rd movie. But actually there is no sense. The 3rd movie starts showing Chucky's blood falling in plastic, so the moment he relives and not with a piece of his face as here. Producers had better to make the "original" ending the official one. Nobody could really expect for Chucky's rebirth ... but we all knew he was going to be back lol ^^

Are you sure this wasn't in the theatrical release? I've seen this ending before besides on here. I seen this movie when it came out in 1990 and could have sworn that this was shown in theatres.
