  • ...the lady with stitches after LASIK was freaking me out and I wanted to pull out of the surgery. But watching your video was comforting and gave me some relief of what to expect. Thanks!

  • @amkyuen Glad it has helped you. :o)

  • Thanks for your video. I'm getting mine done in 2 wks time and was all these neg videos especially the lady with stitches after a

  • I think it would be interesting*

    Oy vey.

  • I have researched this through and through, and came to the conclusion that I wanted it done after I saw your video here and the 4 years later.

My appointment for the Epi-LASIK is next Thursday, the 19th! I am thinking about doing a video similar to yours, because I did it interesting and everyone experiences different things. :)

Hope your vision continues to be great!

  • @eirikoala Glad that I might have helped. Good luck with yours. My eyes are still great. Probably nearly 5 years on now....I can feel another video coming on!

For me, it was such an important thing, I relaly wanted a record of it for myself. It was only afterwards that I thought about putting it on YouTube.

  • Thank you so much for putting this video, I'm due at ultralase on the 20th to get LASIK surgery and this has set my mind at ease of how I will feel afterwards

  • still do i have to worry when i am a kid and i have an eye surgery

  • @macdangnguyen You have to be over 18 years old to have this surgery I believe. Personally, I would tell anyone to wait until they are at least 18.

  • Does it hurt

  • @macdangnguyen No. I just had some stinging afterwards, which was quite bad for me but they do give you drops that stop that.

  • Hi thanx for all your great posts, you seem a cool guy!very informative and helpful!

  • @rockcityaudio Cheers! :o)

  • It took you just 45 minutes to get to the place, do the surgery and get back?

  • @JermzzzyFTW Yep.

  • @markyboyclark

    Did you feel much?

    i wanna get surgery aswell

  • @MforceArts You feel alot. Although I didn't feel the flap being cut (with another laser) but you are aware that it is being flapped open because things look strange! It is kinda cool really, I did enjoy it. It's kinda like a really expensive fairground ride - bit scary but you feel great after....well, after a nights sleep. The ONLY pain I had was the stinging after the whole thing had finished but like I say, after I slept it off it was fine.

  • @ottomanslap97 Only until I got back to the hotel room and went to bed, which was straight away! I drove home the next day without sunglasses although I did suffer the odd moment of light sensitivity a few days and weeks later but they eventually went completely.

  • @markyboyclark so what happens can you see bigger or small or is just normal

  • @GhettoTilliDae I used to be short sighted. When I wore glasses things looked smaller but now everything is how nature intended...normal I guess. I see things the same as when I wore contact lenses, which for me is bigger, as I was short sighted. Hope that makes sense!

I guess long sighted people see things a little bigger through glasses?....

  • @markyboyclark yea because when i wear glasses i see perfect but kind of small and when i take them off i see good but always natural and normal size

  • @GhettoTilliDae So you are a little short sighted then? After laser eye surgery, you will see everything how it is meant to be!

  • @markyboyclark oh ok and after the surgery do they remove something from and will i get like a side effect forever

  • @GhettoTilliDae Nothing is removed. Not really. Just some very small amounts of cornea so that the light is refracted to your lens in a more desired way so that you can see more clearly.

I have had no side affects other than great vision!

  • @GhettoTilliDae Although, I would say that where I was really short sighted, I could see lots of 'floaters'. These are imperfections in the fluid in the eye. Apparently it is my retinas that are STILL short sitghted but as I said earlier, it is the changed bend in the light that enters through the cornea (the outermost part of the eye) that re-calibrates what my retinas pick up.

  • @GhettoTilliDae Anyway, so I can see 20/20 vision of the outside world but actually I can still see 'floaters' when looking at white things (they just show up more) because my retinas are still short sighted and pick up these super close up imperfections.

The people in the clinic don't really tell you about this and I have had to fill in some of the blanks myself about why I can see these floaters. BUT the main thing is that I can still see 20/20 and IT IS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!! :o)

  • @GhettoTilliDae Read my posts from bottom to top otherwise they won't make sense! You can't pot more than 300 characters at a time.....so annoying...

  • @ottomanslap97 I did and they do tell you to bring sunglasses. You will find that you are light sensitive, that is why it is a good idea. I am quite light sensitive anyway, apparently because I have blue eyes!?

  • I am hesitating, specially on the dry eye issue. What if a few years from now somebody comes up with an even better technique?? All these ppl that had lasik will regret their decision!

  • @TailsYay I REALLY don't think that will happen to be honest. they have been doing lasik for decades now.

  • @TailsYay Forgot to mention, dry eyes aren't an issue! BUT they were when I used to wear contact lenses!

  • im really scared

ill stick with glasses they did this on phineas and ferb and icarly

  • you should do eyesbrow laser!

  • which is the best for quality and how much did you pay and how is your night vision

  • @lokalllize If you watch the video all the way through, you will know!

Lasik was and I believe still is the best. I paid for all the extras like wave front guided technology. It cost me £3770 in total. Night vision is great.

  • which is the best for quality and how much did you pay

  • I am 15 Annd my vision is -5.75 and -4.75 should i do lasic?

  • @Angelbeatsx3 Hello. I would wait until you are 18. If you get it done and your eyes change as you get older you might need it done again! Plus, they should check that your eyes have not changed for at least 3 years. I bet yours have?

  • @markyboyclark How much did you have to pay total? How much for each eye? and right after the lasic surrgery did you see everythign clearly right away? What age did you start getting blury vision and started to rely on contacts/glasses?

  • @Angelbeatsx3 £3770 in total. Watch the video again, I can see quite clearly but there was some cloudiness for the first 12+ hours. I had worn glasses since the age of 10 ish.

  • @markyboyclark I worn glasses since 4th Grade. I am in 10th Grade now. The eye doctor told me on my last eye exams to renew my contacts that I need to wear contacts or glasses just to see. Without them my vision is super blury and i cant read or see anything. Did you have to do like alot of paperwork and how long did the paperworks take before performing the surgery?

  • hahaha im just 13 and im going to have to wait for about 9-10 yrs before having LASIK... i hope in those years the surgeons will just have to light a laser in front of your eyes and voila! your vision is clear... because when my optometrist refered me to LASIK that's what I thought!!!

  • are you awake when they do the procedure ????

  • @iPVRx No. They just put anaesthetic eye drops in, which are really affective.

  • @iPVRx I was awake for my procedure

  • I'm going to eye doctor today -_- duh I'm scared..

  • Certainly not, I also don't believe most of the stats on your video either though, especially with so little evidence.

  • Thanx. Am just waitin 4my consultation in April 1st!

  • I was wondering wot strength was your contacts/glasses. Mine r -1.25 and wanted the surgery done

  • @x19kelly87x I was -4.25 and -6.00. Now I am 20/20.

  • @markyboyclark same here. Would you recommend it?

  • did you use lasik?

  • @xzaxx Yes. Where they cut a flap, lift it and 'zap' underneath. It means recovery time is minimal. I drove home the next day!

  • @markyboyclark ok. nice to hear that it went without any sideeffects.

  • can I still do rigorous sports like wrestling and boxing after LASIK?

  • @kevluv93 YEAH! Although not straight away.

  • Im soon to be getting laser eye surgery and I was wondering, is it worth getting very nervous over? I'm one to get nervous a lot, and this has me worried. Should I be nervous?

  • @HorseRiderz4Life I can understand your nervousnous but just enjoy it! You are about to get perfect vision!

Well, you should get very much improved. Mine are still 20/20 and clear as day. Not having to wear glasses is soo good! Good luck!

  • @markyboyclark how long ago did you take the surgery?

  • @TailsYay 4 years ago now. Watch my 4 years after video...

  • Cute eyes.

  • @ImPalacio cute eyes for sure

  • warum sprichst du so komisch

  • Comment removed

  • My friend back in New Zealand is just off to get her eyes lasered right now so I wanted to check out what it was like....thanks for your vid...PS...you're rather cute...and have gorgeous eye! ;-)

  • @notajafa Thanks! :o) Hope their procedure goes well.

  • @markyboyclark PS - My friend's laser eye surgery went really well btw... pretty sore for the first day but is loving her new set now! No more glasses! But a lot of people have since told her she really suited glasses and actually looked better with them on... haha.. DOH!

  • @markyboyclark PS - My friend's laser eye surgery went really well btw... pretty sore for the first day but is loving her new set now! No more glasses! But a lot of people have since told her she really suited glasses and actually looked better with them on... haha.. DOH!

  • @kels0902 The ONLY pain I had was the stinging AFTER the procedure. I think you have to wait till you are 18 years old before you can get this done though.

  • Had my surgery 3days back and I must say, its a completely painfree procedure, contrary to what I thought it might be after seeing some real time videos on youtube. My eyes are feeling brilliant now and the results r pretty much instantatenous!!!

  • when u got the eye surgery did it hurt?

  • @3jenny1 NO! You don't feel a thing. I just got some stinging after but when they gave me more anesthetic drops the stinging went straight away. Although it came back after they wore off, in the taxi on way back to the hotel! I went straight to sleep though and when I woke, it was all good!

  • @markyboyclark

Oh Ok because i wanna try to get some but iam so scared lol

  • @markyboyclark Are ur eyes still 20/20 ? hehe just wanna know if its worth it cuz I really miss my good eyesight and im only 15

  • @OCSmoke8 YEAH! Watch my 3 years after, follow up vid! But yes, there are still great thanks. :o)

  • what about the pain???

    how long does it take?

    :) plzzz answer!!!!

do you see during this procedure???

  • @angeliki1994 it's not very painful at all!.... I just got it done a couple days ago, and I am loving the results. the procedure took less than 20 minutes! also, when they are operating on the eye, your vision grays out so you can't see anything. (they tape the other eye down). I definitely recommend it.

  • I have a added a video log of how I am today! 3 years on...

  • @markyboyclark thats hurt ?????

  • You know what i want to know is are you having problems up to this day with yours eyes such as eye dryness which is a comon problem after getting LASIK. The reasons NOT to get the surgery are highly convincing an scary. I really would like to know what problems you have now with your eyes then you had before without the surgery. Thanks

  • @XxXSavier Have you seen my reply video? It's posted just above this text...

  • I just had it yesterday, i'm completely blown away with how clear my vision is now :)

  • also for anyone who has this done... DO NOT take the steriod drop while laying down... they go into your throat and they taste terrible..

  • DUde keep the glasses on.. youre supposed to keep your eyes closed for a day or more..

  • I'm getting my lasik eye surgery on the 5th of October, I'm so excited. My boyfriend had his done when he was 18, he's 26 and still has 20/20 vision to this day.

  • @lisababy4lyfe Good luck for the 5th! Nice cat by the way! :o)

I am 3 years on from my surgery now and still 20/20....

  • @markyboyclark Thanks for the comment my kitty and thank you for the good luck. Apparently 24 hours after the surgery you're not supposed to watch TV or be on the computer after the surgery. However a few days after it's okay as long as your eyes are kept moist.

  • @lisababy4lyfe how did it go??? hope it went well

  • @sabuomarrr1 A month and a half now since the LASIK and everything is going well, still have 20/20 -2 vision which is amazing :).

  • @lisababy4lyfe glad to hear that:)

  • Can I get laser eye surgery if I have astigmatism?

  • @NancyCisneros Yes, I had that before but I was qualified for the surgery and it does work if you haev astigmastism.

  • is it painful when you are having your surgery...

  • @MissSanaya No. They use VERY affective drops that numb all the pain. It's only as they wear off that I felt some stinging.

  • hey man thinking about getting the exact same thing done with ultralase great to hear of your success story thanks for the video log

  • hey :) happy for you mate, but this was done in 2007!! 3 years later, how are your eyes?

  • hey mark good vid. im getting mine done soon. just woundering how long it took n did it hurt at all WHILE getting it done? please let me know.

    Thanks

    karl

  • good on yeah i got my eyes zapped aswell they did a fabulous job !!!!

  • Hey pal!!! I am lasered!!! i was really lucky!! got LASEK at 3pm, its 8pm now and so far NO pain at all, go to get my contact lense bandage removed monday. I would advise people to go for it, i was nervous but the surgeon put me at ease so much.

    :) night night!!!

  • Hey dude :) This is a really good idea!! I am getting my eyes done tomorrow... quite nervous. gotta hang around in the waiting room for a few hours afterwards. so my little bro can pick me up. I can't bring myself to watch the actual surgery videos!! this has made me feel better :)

    Thanks again!!

  • @linseyc83 Cool, thanks. Glad I am still helping people! Good Luck! :o)

  • @linseyc83 How did the surgery go and how's the "vision" now? =)

  • How much did it cost u ...

  • @haroon99pk £3770

  • @markyboyclark That was pretty expensive, typical english prices?

  • @tsalbeci I think you can get it cheaper now. About £2,000 once you have added on all the trimmings! I payed extra for the laser cutting and the wavefront technology that you don't 'have' to buy. God knows if it is all for real but I just 'ticked all the boxes' you know. I love my vision!

  • @haroon99pk Mine cost £2250 for wavefront procedure had it done in December 2009.. My eyes are great, no halo, dryness etc. just great. better than 20/20

  • i had the LASEK friday and must say, i dont regret it at all..the first 2 days were persistant agony but once that cleared up and they removed the contact lense bandage, everythings all good..mine cost £1590 so not quite as expensive as yours though

  • If you are over 40 like me, you can have different specs for each eye. I had the procedure done couple years ago. My left eye adjustet sharp, the right eye to -1. That enables me to still read the papers in old age without glasses ;D . BUT not every Brain can handle this, you've got to try that out first with different contacts for a month or so. Maybe due to this uneven setting i had some minor problems on the right eye (unsharp sight every 3'rd day) for about a year after surgery.

  • Hey thanks for this vid had mine done monday and your vid helped me know what to expect after, if anyone having it done do not worry at all about the op, u dont feel a thing i would go have it done again tommorow. its like seeing the world again for the 1st time AMAZING :)

  • i heard the "flap" never heals. does it? Also, during the surgery, did anything hurt? And one more thing, do you know what your prescription was before? Mines -2.50

  • Hmmmm fit bloke.....!

You got nice eyes wit or without glasses :D

  • getting mine done in 2 days, cnt afford intralase tho, so gonna trust surgeons technique. should go well tho

  • hi markyboyclark its been a year since i got my eyes done i left a comment then if ye check, my eyes are A1 im glad i got it done, thanks for the vid it helped alot

  • Hey that's cool.

I'm sure I did read from a few people who said they were about to get it done and it's good to hear back.

I really should not take it for granted as much as I do. It is still REALLY GREAT THOUGH!

    HD vision I call it!

  • I am not a proponent of this surgery because it is cosmetic. Sight is your most vital sense and if it gets hosed, you can't go out and buy a new pair of eyes!!

  • i want to be a pilot but my eye sight is not good enough im thinking of getting laser eye treatment but i have heard that there's a chance of going blind after a few years, is this truee?

  • I think you will find quite a few pilots have had laser eye surgery.

There is always a risk with most things but only that you might not get 20/20 vision. Maybe ask your GP about it to put yourself at ease. If I were you, I'd go for it. I teach watersports and it has made my life soo much better.

  • Dr. John Kanellopoulos: There was evidence presented by Emory Universitys Henry Edelhauser at this years Refractive Surgery Subspecialty Day at the Academy of Ophthalmology meeting that the LASIK flap never actually heals onto the underlying stroma, especially centrally... This was a real eye-opener for me..." (Review of Ophthalmology 2/1/2009)

  • While the eye flap may never fully heal, after 6 months most doctors agree that the only thing that will damage the flap is something that would damage the eye of any person anyway.

Do yourself a favor, get LASIK.

  • @thatguy181 Not true. Medical research has shown that the central flap heals to only 2% of normal tensile strength, and the edge of the flap heals to only 28%. I hope you don't believe everything a LASIK salesman/surgeon says.

  • Dr. Gary Conrad: "It was once believed that the flap would re-adhere permanently. However, the unique connective tissue of the cornea and a lack of blood vessels limit its ability to fully heal even years after the procedure." See my channel for more LASIK truth.

  • @LASIKComplications As I have said before, I can rub my eyes till the cows come home.

    ???

  • @craiber71 They are Oakley Minutes!

I drove home the next day so my eyes were good enough for that! My light sensitivty went after a few days

  • Comment removed

  • I had laser surgery a couple of years ago and am very glad I did. Having said that, no surgery is 100% safe and I hate to hear about those who came out with problems.

Not sure what can be done when things go wrong.

  • You got lucky my girl complains more about her eyes now than leavin her contacts in for a few days it's he'll on trying to have fun on a night out.

  • That's bad news... Where did she go? and what treatment did she have done? I went with Optical Express...I did a fair bitof research and checked out the consultant before I went... Got to say they were first class and my eyes are feeling great! It's been nearly a week now and I go back tomorrow for a check up.

  • hi mark, well done, i had the same treatment at optimax 3 days ago, i cud feel the laser giving me pain as the flaps were cut,,,,

i still have halop effect, but my immediate near vision isnt there now, for eg, i cud b4 see my hand clearly infront of my eyes, now i have to hold it a foot away to focus on it?

how long did your halo effects last and did u get the same'near object vision.or lack of'?

aside from that, did u get bloodshot bruising to the upper whites of the eyball? i have,it hurts.

  • Mine didn't hurt at all?? Just the stinging!

Yeah, you loose that super close focus I know! People with normal vision can't either. It's funny what you 'miss' when it's gone. But lets face it, having great vision...sorry you're not quite there yet are you! Ha, give it a few days. I think any halo/fuzzyness I had went after a week or so. Everyone is different though so get just give yourself time to adjust.

How much did you pay? If you don't mind me asking.

    Mark

  • This is a very true representation of how I was after my surgery (48 hours ago). Once the anesthetic wore off I was in a fair bit of pain with the stinging in both eyes, however nothing you can't live with and it only lasted for a couple of hours! The results the day after were fantastic.I have better than 20/20. My eyes are a little bruised just under the top eye lid, this is normal, other than a little bit of dryness everything else is fine. I am very pleased with the results already.

  • So how is your vision now after LASIK? Was it worth it? Any negative factors? etc?

  • 20/20

    Yes

    No

Slightly out of pocket! I will have paid it off next year. Can't wait!

  • When you mean -6.5 what you mean like -650?

  • Erm, all I know is that I was -6.5. This meant I wore nearly 1cm thick glasses when I was younger (at the thickest bit) before the slim lenses came into production. I was VERY short sighted! COuldn't focus on something unles it was nearly touching my face! :o)

  • hi you make it sound so very ezy i getting mine done on the 16/12/09 for $2500 aus , they tell my it should take about 1 hour my Corina is shaped if a AFL ball not around ball shape , felling a little frail but looking forward to having better sight .

  • Good luck!

I was in the clinic for about hour maximum yes.

I also have non round eyes. It makes you have an astigmatism doesn't it? They can help correct that. Although I still have a small bit of astigmatism but with 20/20 vision.

    Have fun.

You should video log it and put it on this page! That would be cool. :o)

  • Thanks my astigmatism in my right eye is12 , 2 corina transplants 1in each eye they are now 15 / 17 years which they tell my is get to there used by date . I am 47 now and do no care if i need specs or not my eye do not like bright lights. They also tell me that i can have the lenses replace in my eyes in time if i need too As for the video bit i do not know if they do here or if i would watch it . It good to know that there are normal as in non Doctor type to ask and to talk too . Cheers

  • Do you have nightglare and halo? If you do, does it effect night driving? I don't know if I should go; kinda scary

  • I can see very small 'nightglare'. Every does though right? My night driving is fine.

    It is scary.

I thought it was worth the risk and I am STILL dead chuffed with my results.

    Good luck whatever you decide!

    Mark

  • Does it hurt? What type of procedure did you got? Where did you got it from? Did you end up with 20/20?

  • You haven't watched the video have you?

All answers in my vlog! :o)

    No.

    Wavefront lasik.

    Ultralase (guildford)

    Yes

    :o)

  • i had lasik 10 hours ago and is VGood .

i had only - 2. Now maybe 0. Tomarow i am going to the doctor.:)

  • Im thinkin of doing lasersurgery on my both eyes within 2 years. Got a few questions; How long do u have to avoid swimming, taking a sauna, looking at bright lights etc after the surgery? And do they tell how long that "improved" vision lasts? Or is it basically like back to square one where as ur eyes lose vision by getting just older.

  • I couldn't swim for 3 weeks ish, if I remember rightly. Only to avoid infection whilst the flap healed. You should never look at bright lights anytime. My corrected vision should last forever. Old age sight is a long sight problem that affects everyone including me. They make you quite aware of that from the start. You can't correct old age sight loss. :o(

  • all together how much did it cost?

  • You didn't watch the video to the end did you?

    £3770 ALL IN

still worth it tho...although I earn rubbish money and am still paying off...I think it should be on the NHS for people with bad eye sight like mine was.

  • What was your prescription pre-laser eye? I am considering laser eye surgery. However, my eyes are -4.75 in each eye. Is this too high to be operated on?

  • It was -4.25 and -6.00 with astigmatism.

I was very blind, so well worth the risk in my view.

  • what was your pescription? im -4.25 is both eyes

  • I was -6.5 and -4.25

  • 2007> it's 2009 now how goes it, any worse/better, needs doing again?

  • My eyes are still great! I've been doing loads of water sports and loving life.

Still 20/20 as far as I am aware.

    All good :o)

  • do your eyes get dry and you have to use eye drops?

  • No and No.

  • (follow previous comment). Emmielou122,You are young, I wish it will go better. Opt.. express gave the idea of a supermarket: the day of my surgery there were other 15 people, and when I was asking question to the surgeon It seemed I was delaying him. They want to sell their product, once they have the money they won't care what's happen to ur sight after

  • (follow previous comment)this is my only hope, because in this moment I m not that happy about result: still foggy when I m indoor, difficult of reading, (my right eye at the moment has some prespiobia, that turn me off reading at night time before goin to sleep.

  • Couldn't focus on the topic because of your cuteness. :)

  • Im 19 this friday and I have booked a consultation with "optical express" for next week. I dont know if Im maybe too young still but the videos Ive watched of the actual procedure are really really off putting! is it as bad as it looks?

  • I ve done it with opticalexpress too, 5 days ago. I wish u good luck. In my case they keep on tellin me that my sight will improve in weeks:

  • how long did the actual surgery take? and did it hurt alot?

  • 10minutes....i think.

  • you must to have 18 years old .

  • Yep

  • i'm 11 years old would that damage my eye sight?

  • Laser eye surgery would not be a good idea until adulthood as the eyes are subject to continual change until adulthood. As far as this goes laser eye surgery should not be done until vision stablises for a minimum of 2 years.

  • im 15 -16 years old donno :P

but i have very bad eye sight like 3- 4-

    and agmtizm 1.50

i wish i could do it now but should i do it at 18 or 20?

  • more like 23-25

  • humm

mabey i can w8 for that long

or ill just do it at 20:P

  • if you do it before your eyes have fully settled in the growth, you can ruin your eyes. so you're $5000 wont be worth anything anymore, and you'll have fucked up eyes. lol.

might as well wait til you're 25 and get it done ONCE. thats just my opinion anyway.

  • thats not to bad I know your young but -8 is bad fuck lasik its fail glasses and contacts ftw wait in the future they will have to make a cure for eyes casue to many blind ppl and glasses users

  • I'm trying to research eye surgery for my boyfriend, who has terrible vision in his left eye and is worried he won't be able to drive a car.

You are a very brave man, and this video has helped a lot. You might not realise how much you've helped a number of people. Congrats!
